Title: Serious games (Edu-gaming)
Post by: Stogi on February 12, 2009, 10:00:21 PM
Remember when I asked you if you had any suggestions about videogames revelant to health and medicine? Well with collaborations and some hard work, we finally got a new department up and running!

Now I'm not really part of it. I was just part of the presentation about how the Wii,, in concert with other instruments (e.g. EKG's), could be used to teach students complicated things intuitively. Other than having to replace the Wii batteries on the fly (how embarrassing), I think it went really well.

It was overall a nice ceremony with lots of interest. Wish the department the best!

Wow that's cool.
It is interesting the different applications that can be used when the Wii is used with other things.

We've asked Nintendo for a development console. I'll let you know if we get one.

Man, I should be involved in this.  I'm the father of serious gaming.

Would you care to elaborate?

I think he's kidding around about his serious games stance =P.

Stogi, we just landed a serious game contract at Second Ave working with Wheeling University on a Moon creation game.

Sadly, it has nothing to do with the Wii, but it will still be a pretty cool project.  Let me know how your stuff goes, and let me know if you need some development help from an outside company. ;)

Edit: Just reread that you aren't really a part of it... either way though, if you get a chance to drop a company's name and want to drop Second Ave, I'd appreciate it. :)
