As many of you probably remember, I'm all about the free legendary Pokemon events at Toys R Us. This week marks the first (legitimate) time North American Pokemon gamers can get their hands on possibly the cutest monster ever; the grass hedgehog Shaymin.
The good news is, Toys R Us finally seems to be getting it. Unlike the awkward start times and massive lines of past events, us Pokemon fanatics are now given an entire week in which to leisurely mosey into a store, inconspicuously pull out a DS, and initiate the Mystery Gift transfer. I did it today, and I'm very proud of my brand new Shaymin. I can't wait to let him visit my ranch.
Is this the first time you are hearing about this event? Don't worry! There's still plenty of time to go in and grab your very own hedgehog, assuming you live near a Toys R Us. All the info is up on the official Pokemon Site but it is far from complicated. You walk into the store, fire up your copy of Pokemon Diamond or Pearl, select "Mystery Gift" from the main menu, select "Receive Gift", and finally pick "Get Via Wireless." This should then initiate the process. When it's complete, all you have to do is talk to the man standing in the Pokemart from within the game. Be careful though, if you've done events in the past, you may have to clear out some of your past "cards". This is done by selecting the "Check Card" option from the Mystery Gift menu.
If all of this gets you excited, you'll also be interested to know that Toys R Us stores will be giving away Regigagas in March as well. These are all leading up to the release of Pokemon Platinum. When you transfer either Shaymin or Regigaas to that game, it will unlock some neat new locations and Pokemon forms.
Oh, and, in case you were wondering, here are the stats of my Shaymin. Is yours stronger than mine?

Everytime I see one of these Toys R Us events, I think of picking up my copy of Pearl and delving back into Pokemon, and then I usually talk myself out of it.
I also wish that I was young again; I had such a zest for this series when I was 12.

mine is a total of 580 not coutning hp
Hp : 171

SP A : 108
Sp D : 125

and still need to apply the carbs and whatnot.
I did apply all 10 zincs to the sp defense though.
did you apply anything?

I see this pokemon on journals and cups here in Japan. I just don't get it. I feel like Pikachu is the only pokemon I recognize any more.

I also was impressed with the guy working the counter because was up selling everything Wii related to other shoppers. It was totally the 'Do you want fries with that?" thing. He got one lady to upgrade her Wiimote purchase to WiiPlay and another guy to buy a WiiFit with an accessory kit within five minuets.
I just wish people would suggestive sell de Blob, Zack & Wiki and Okami to consumers.

No, Regi will be available in March was what Nintendo said as a build up for the release of Platinum.

From what I understand Regi will be needed to unlock areas in platinum in order to transform shaymin and some other places.
Does anyone know if transfer from pearl to platinum will be easy or a pain. Easy = some large box swap kinda like the old 64 game, or Pain = going around and catching 400+ bidoofs to transfer over 6 at a time..

I think it's just normal trading. So you will need an extra DS (if you don't have one and don't know anyone else with one) and just do lots of trading.
