Title: What is the trick to winning sea battles?
Post by: The Caucasian Cubist on April 11, 2003, 07:16:46 AM
I feel like I am missing out on something. The only thing my guide mentions about beating the other ships on the sea is "Take out these ships" er something. But it's not that simple. I go and aim my cannon at the guys, Ill probably miss a few times, and by the time I aim it right, I'll get hit and knocked out of the boat. It's rather tedious and annoying. Is there some trick I haven't tried yet? This is keeping me from finishing the game. Help.

You have a guide.... and you still can't beat the game. That's kind of sad.

C'mon dude, you don't know me. I'm not "sad" ok. So just stop with your trying-to-put-down-others-to-boost-your-own-self-esteem number (oh I just did it my self; whatever )
The point is the guide says "Now you will need to take out the warships." and I'm like "Oh thanks, that helps a lot." That really needs to have like at least one paragraph of its own, but such is nowhere to be found.

get really close to the ships and cannons, and just fire away as fast as posible, they usually miss the 1st or 2nd shot.

I was going to offer genuine advice at first, and I even typed in the best way to beat them, but I thought of two things which made me erase it and write what I did.
1) You are using guides and still can't beat the game 2) This is the wrong forum for asking this.
Seriously, why do you even play games if you use guides? why don't you just watch a movie instead?

Back to the subject....
For beating boats, and easy (but not quite as fun) way to win is to get almost within touching range and blast away up close. But if you are too close you can end up damaging yourself.

Dude... if you can't destroy those ships, then how did you manage to defeat the first boss?

I have to say that getting knocked out of the boat when you get hit is really annoying. It's really bad when you are fighting like 3 or 4 boats at once. I don't really see why they just didn't make it so you just take damage instead of making you fly out of the boat too.
Even with that in mind though it's not that hard to beat them. Just aim your canon and shoot and if you can't hit them then it probably means you need to get closer to them. Also watch the bombs they shoot at you because you should be able to tell if they are going to hit you or not and if they are just whip out your sail and get out of the way.

1. I didn't want the guide. I don't typically use guides. My mom got it when she got the game for me because it was discounted. I don't like wandering around aimlessly not knowing what to do so I use it then. (In this case I used it for some of the side quests too, but whatever.)
2. How in the world is this the wrong forum. It is about Zelda, therefore it belongs in the Zelda forum.
And also, I don't know what it is about internet forums, but it really brings out the hostile side of people.
and the other guy..."Dude... if you can't destroy those ships, then how did you manage to defeat the first boss? " Huh? the first boss? the first boss didnt require beating those ships. I'm confused

It's true that forums can be a little hostile at times, but you have to remember that it's very irritating when someone shows up and blatantly disregards all the rules, and ignores every other post on the forum.
There is a big sticky on the top of this section of the forum requesting that people ask for gameplay help in the appropriate section. That's the reason I said that this was in the wrong forum. I realize that mistakes do happen, and I have done stuff like this myself on a few occasions. However, I do believe that the rules should be followed, and this one does make sense, as it keeps the forums nice and tidy.
