It can make even the most rudimentary action fun.

I'm STILL waiting for someone to make a "coffee break" fly swatting game for the Wii.

When I first saw the title I thought it was a topic about reasons why the Wii is great.I am pleasantly surprised it wasn't about that.
I like the idea of these Let's games.Trying out different ways of doing things with the controls. Let's Tap will likely overshadow Let's catch but both of them will be enjoyable.

Actually, let me add Let's Tap to my list of 2009 Games I'd be interested in pre-ordering...
Yeah, from the second I heard of this game's concept, i was hooked. It's doesn't hurt that the music is sooo wonderfully catchy as well.

For some reason I read that URL as "Let Scatch" and I was trying to figure out what odd Japanese thing it would be this time.
I can't read any Japanese on that site, but if this game is cheap and utilizes Wii Speak, it'd be a pretty bad ass way to have a conversation.

No doubt. I downloaded it onto my media player and it's been played 50+ times. Crazy catchy.
I wonder if Sega is testing the waters. As dumb as Sega is, they must have seen the success of the "Touch" brand and wanted to do something similar. The "Let's" brand could prove to be a powerful moniker.

Do you have a child? Are you the world's laziest father?

Well I would have to agree the music in Let's Tap is catchy.I sometimes open the Let's Tap thread just to listen to the music.
Let's Catch will be pretty fun.

with wiimotion plus this might be fun, but not something worth paying for. As a mini game in Wario Ware or Wiisports resort, not as a full featured game.
I guess Japan this might work since they don't have open fields of land to toss the ball with somebody. In America who doesn't have a football or baseball to toss around, and a backyard or field or something.

There's a game you can play if you click the far right tab. It's pretty neat, but really easy.

This is only supposed to cost 500 Wii Points right? I'd sooo get this.
You know... catch IS a weird little childhood pleasure that I haven't indulged in in a long while. Actually, my throwing motion right now is horrible, in real life I've degenerated into letting my arm cross my body when throwing so that throwing a baseball is horrible... it goes 20 degrees to the left of where I'm looking... what's happened to me since Little League? T_T

Why not just use Wii Speak Channel then?

Because you can't do anything to stay active? /sigh. I was trying to say it'd be a cool way to recreate the casual conversations that happen during a nice game of catch over a long distance. =P

I get what you're saying Pale. I mean, it makes tons of sense... but it's also sort of creepy ain't it?

It doesn't have to be creepy. I imagine a father away on business would seriously love doing this (and talking) with his 8 year old son.
I think that if it's cheap and has Wii Speak, it's a nice little idea.

Anyone else think of the episode in "Friends"?

You can share pictures and spam people with voice/picture mail on people's Wiis.

Since I should be getting Let's Tap for review, I'm going to get it. Gotta see what special things are unlocked by it!

I'm gonna copy-paste some impressions I first posted on IGN, since no one there is reading them. I'm a lazy attention whore. ;)
Let's Catch is pretty interesting and original, perhaps not in terms of gameplay, but certainly in concept.
I got interested in trying it after listening to an old Destructoid Retroforce Go! podcast: the girl describing it totally sold me on it. She likened the story mode to Phoenix Wright, in that beneath the cute, casual wrapping are some serious stories and issues. Let's just say she had me at "Phoenix Wright", though perhaps I wouldn't make the same comparison.
Anyway, the gameplay itself is nothing too special: you flick the wiimote to throw a ball, you press A and B at the same time to catch it. Flicking the wiimote with just the right amount of force nets you more points, whereas when catching, your timing determines how well you're doing and how many points you'll get.
What makes the game interesting, however, is the story mode. In it, you throw and catch a ball with your neighbours and get to know them. Play well and they'll keep opening up to you about the issues they're facing. Do poorly and they'll stop playing with you. The more you listen to them, the higher your "friendship level" gets, and eventually you unlock new characters to play with.
And so you throw a ball while listening to a widower dad who thinks his daughter is emotionally shutting down, or a woman who's thinking of cheating on her boyfriend with a married coworker (!).
I don't want to say too much because really, the enjoyment you get in this game is in the discovery, in listening to these characters confide in you and in piecing together the puzzle.
The Story mode is about 3 hours long, and I'd say it's the main draw of the game. Beyond the Story mode there's a bunch of score attack modes that could appeal to fans of arcade action, except I'm not sure if the game gives enough feedback when you're doing it wrong. It might frustrate some players to feel like they're throwing consistently the same way, yet not always getting consistent results. You can see on screen if you've thrown the ball too hard or too softly by looking at the character animation, but it's hard to get a feel for it when you're actually doing the motion.
If you're new to Wiiware or are into more traditional games, there are quite a few games I'd recommend before this one. But if you can easily spare $10 and are looking for a pretty original game, I say go for it.

Question is, does it have Let's Tap's KICKIN' soundtrack?

I haven't played Let's Tap, but if I had to hazard a guess, I would say: absolutely not. There're these calm, soothing strings in Story mode; there's this very repetitive, aggressive, short loop in the one minigame I tried.
Nothing KICKIN' about it. Sorry!

Thanks for the impressions Pandareus. This seems like a really weird game, the interactions sound interesting but the gameplay seems very repetitive, so I don't think I'll bother.

No prob!
Yeah, I erased the channel as after exhausting the Story mode, I have no desire to go back to the game. It is pretty damn simplistic. And it's pretty hard after a while to not feel self-conscious about the fact that you're just flicking your wrist and pressing A+B over and over again with your arm raised up.
