Anyone else going to a cocktail party? You know, champagne, gowns, ties, and h'ordeurves?
Cocktail party? Do people actually throw those for MLK day?
I went to a MLK bash yesterday; two kegs and some football. It was pretty hilarious. But I'm talking about the inauguration if some of you haven't figured that out. And yes, people definitely have cocktail parties for such things; this being one of them.

Oh cripes! Maxi mentioned MLK day and I just assumed you created this thread yesterday. Now I feel foolish.
I celebrated back on November 5. I don't know of anything going on tomorrow.

Isn't the swearing in at 9:00 and something else is earlier?
I think the oath is taken at 12 noon (est) "by law" according to what i heard on the local news today. My job has CNN on all day so I kinda HAVE to watch it... on the plus side, my office is having a small party and we have some chips and dip and a hidden bottle of champagne! :)

Just watched the speech. and DAAAAMN!
That was touching. I especially liked his words towards foreign countries.
Now it's time to light up a joint.

Funny I think this qualifies as a political thread.

In the spirit of the day, I'm going to let this one slide. But if it gets partisan at all, I'll be locking it down.
THANK YOU.
The inaguration was barely brought up in this thread, in fact most people thought it was about MLK at first. Then GP had to bring the P-word into it. I know Stogi tries to make these type of threads in secret, and debates start forming on the left and right but this ones pretty innocent. Thank you for letting it slide Pale.
MMmmm these chips and dip are good, so are the tomatoes and baby carrots!

There's plenty of room, Maxi!
Just finished my letter! I congratulated him and talked about some real ****. Like, for instance, the sanctions on Sudanese trade. Specifically, how Sudanese businesses can't use the US dollar as well as a blockade on imported goods. Hopefully someone gets back to me, but I very much doubt it.

It brought tears to my eyes too, but probably not for the same reason.

Oh GP. When will you just stop and give me a hug?
When will you unclench your fist and shake my hand?
