Title: Would it better / worse to see ImaginationLand and not see Woodland Critter Xmas
Post by: AV on December 04, 2008, 08:51:43 PM
My Girlfriend agreed we would watch "South park: ImaginationLand movie" next wednesday after the finals.

We have been watching allot of more action / adventure movies lately (We watched Twilight, and Superman Returns) so now we watched some comedy before and after Finals.

She watched "Futurama: Benders Big Score" today and enjoyed it.

Anyway I own the DVD of the "ImaginationLAND movie" and it has the episodes of "Woodland Critter Christmas" and "ManBearPig" on the disk.

We have the time, so that is not a problem.

I'm thinking would it be more funny for her if she didn't know about ManBearPig or Woodland Critter Christmas and it be a total shock and surprise or would it be better to go ahead and watch the episodes?

i think its funnier to know their background, or else those characters will seem a little out of place in the context of all the other already established make believe characters. In fact, for my, thats what makes it funnier, seeing so many recognizable characters. If there was one i didnt know immidiately it wouldnt be as funny/special.

I agree with EasyCure. Watch both of the others before the Imagination Land special, as it will be significantly funnier after knowing the two sets of characters from the other episodes.

Blood Orgy!

Al Gore would come across as even more of a lunatic if he started going on about Manbearpig out of nowhere, but the earlier jokes "i think he's haf bear, half pig-man" wouldn't make sense.

I actually saw the Kyle Sucks Cartman's Balls trilogy before Woodland critters xmas and while I quickly picked up on what was going on, probably best to watch the xmas one first.

Imagination Land isn't good.

Get her a good background on the characters, then show her the South Park movie. Then if she likes all that, show the dissapointing Magination Land.

Hmph, to each his own. It sure did grab me, I loved how they imitated certain action movie moments in it and even little things like the terrorists beating on butters were hilarious to me.

My favorite seen in the whole movie is the scenes with Jesus and Aslan in the counsel. As well as, the part where they are interviewing the movie directors.

Don't get me wrong, South Park is probably my favorite show ever.

I loved those episodes.  Just watching it and picking out the characters is great.
It's not the best thing they've done, but it's still a fantastic trilogy.

agreed, amazing trilogy (though far from the best thing they've done). I'm actually glad they released it as a three part episode and NOT a second south park feature film like they had planned.

I agree. The movie is awesome, this is joke compared to that.

We watched the two episodes before the movie, so she got it all. She enjoyed it.

I haven't seen her since.  :(

I miss my girlfriend. She lives 3 hours away right now with her mom, so I can't visit. I should see her again in about 3 weeks give or take. She gave me 2000 wiipoints and whenever I play World of Goo I think of her.
