Imagine Mario's consternation with Bill's lack of participation! In lieu RAB's cross exclamation, I might just sign this declaration.

If all my friends are feeling rotten, then online play will be forgotten; and online play is pretty bleak, if I can't use the new Wii Speak.

lolol @ people who rally against animal crossing for being more of the same.  yet, the average reviewer will gobble up anything with the rock band/guitar hero brand name on it.  and those are released annually.

It's not that Nintendo lowered its standards, it just hasn't raised them for this gen.

But then there's Wii Music. . .

I wonder if I'll go for it.  I haven't made up my mind yet.  I think I'd get it if I got my sister to, but I'd avoid the microphone, because I don't want to have to make idle chatter with her.

If you want a relaxing game and like obsessive compulsive collecting (a billion things, including furniture, fish, fossils, and bones), then yes...If not, then don't bother...

I only collect things that feel like getting something new (e.g. equipment in an RPG changes the game, at least minimally), how much of a difference does collecting in AC make?

None at all. Items just sit there in your house. The maximum possible enjoyment you can get out of an item is going up to it and pressing A, and it'll make a sound. The game is embarrassing. It's completely destroyed Nintendo as a company in my world. I can't support Nintendo in public anymore because someone can just say to me "yeah but Animal Crossing City Folk" and i'll have to sit down. It's something Sony would try and pull off. I never thought Nintendo would try and deceive people this badly, and out in the open like this. If it wasn't for Disaster: Day of Crisis i'd boycott Nintendo as a whole. It's such a sad state of affairs, it truly is the surprise of the generation to me. They're going to sink like Sony next generation, they've already lost focus and quit putting effort into things, a mere few years into the domination. It's like a fat person losing a few kilos, he's over the moon but he's still a giant greasy fat ****. It's pathetic, they have no idea how to handle and control things. It's not just an issue of their own game quality but being the market leader, the entire gaming industry is in their hands and their responsibility, and they are just laughing and counting their cash and flushing it down the toilet. It's so frustrating being an outsider and watching Nintendo literally destroy themselves. It's like some guy is leading a marathon  halfway and just starts pumping his fists in the air and singing, then he faints. This is something that will become more apparent with time, trust me. Brand loyalty doesn't exist anymore, it's every game for itself. And the more copies City Folk sells, the worse off Nintendo is. It's going to kill them down the line, it's going to cripple their reputation. The game will break records, as the most returns ever issued for a single game, and the people doing this, will think the same way about the ENTIRE Wii system lineup.

Animal Crossing City Folk is REVOLUTIONARY. Never ever has something like this happened before, not just out of Nintendo, but any major game developer in history. It's the biggest scam the world has ever seen, and that's NO exaggeration, the gaming industry is HUGE right now, and this will be the spotlight of this holiday season, everyone is going to be looking at this game with a massive magnifying glass, and the truth is going to come out and SPREAD. This is going to be THE thing on everyone's lips when gaming pops up, everyone will be talking about "wow that new Animal Crossing is so crap, it's exactly the same as the others", "yeah what's Nintendo doing"?, "I dunno i'm glad I didn't buy it". It seems like just another game release, but this will go down in history, and the most significant release ever, and one that COMPLETELY turns the tide of the industry against Nintendo, and towards an open space of uncertainty, at this CRUCIAL time. This is Nintendo throwing their responsibility of the industry in the garbage, and EVERYONE is going to suffer. The saddest part is that the door was open for Nintendo and City Folk, it was WIDE open, all they had to do was walk through it, but they completely tarded out and started eating icecream. It's depressing and I hate thinking about it. From a personal standpoint I find myself in an awkward situation, should I still support Nintendo's other endeavors knowing their TRUE nature? I just wanna forget about it all. As much as I hate to say it Nintendo would be better off without Reggie and Cammie and the rest of those fuckwits and be replaced with people truly into offering consumers the best experience possible. This entire part of my world has been turned upside down with this one piece of software and I don't like it one bit.

I'm joining the whiners. There was so much potential for this game. And listening to IGN's podcast today ruffles my feathers even more. Nintendo is making soooo much dough. You'd think they'd invest some of that in a game that delivers new and exciting adventures. Instead we get a new coat of paint and the ability to make foot paths in the ground. And to report a word that was taught as offensive so the game can delete it.

Nobody come to my town cause you might give my animals cooties.

Meh, I own a computer capable of emulating NES games but having them in the AC world was pretty neat.  It provided a quick distraction between catching fish or while waiting for Nook to open, and having them in there created a great sense of immersion.  Plus they were fun to collect, which is really what the game is about!  AC is so much worse without NES games, and it's all because of Nintendo's silly virtual console.  It would have been AWESOME if they had created a feature that let you access VC games that you purchased from inside animal crossing, or at least the NES ones.  Damn you Nintendo.

Also, here's something about playing a video game inside a video game that was just awesome.

Guys, there's a perfectly acceptable Animal Crossing thread in the Wii section that's more the appropriate place for bashing it.  You're all confusing me by having it here.

Anyway, signed.  Though the original AC ate my life up so much that I vowed I would never play any AC game again anyway.  When you neglect real world holidays so you can experience them in a game world, there's a problem. :)

Isn't it great that Nintendo's "core game" for this Christmas is essentially a Wii-make?  And when I suggested that Wii-makes take up valuable resources that could be put towards new games so many people claimed I had no proof that that was happening.

A boycott is useless.  WE are not who Nintendo wants to sell Wii-makes to in the first place.

I see what you did there.

Count me among the weak. I don't officially OWN the game yet, but I've been renting it.

Actually, [Ian posting in the Funhouse] has happened before (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=26171.msg455273#msg455273).  There was also that other time.

This is the other time. (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=13766.msg193223#msg193223)

Also, I just want to say how much of a pain in the ass it is to find these posts when the search feature is totally borked.
