thats pretty hard to believe i have a feeling that nintendo will be developing and working on a new console for when the ps3 launches i think they will try to stick out with the gamecube as long as possible and when the time comes, they will release their next console with ps3 thats just how i feel though maybe if they got a couple month jump on everyone they could sell more, but i think they still want to work with the gamecube for a while

I just hope the next Nintnedo system comes out in the same 6 months as which ever system ends up being first.

Actually, Nintendo has already stated that they will release by this point. They want to launch alongside the PS2 and XBox too.

Nope, i think nintendo will try to beat everyone to the market. The playstation beat the n64, and the ps2 beat everyone this round, so... I think nintendo will probably make a console similar to the gamecube with getting a cpu from someone else, and they already have ati on board. Probably have a HD, and built in ethernet (maybe modem too).

yea i have read several official reports, but dont remember where, i think on ign and in EGM. But i am positive it is coming out first and in 2005. Positive. almost.......... Anyway, yea.... umm... I believe it. I think nintendo is not gonna drag out the systems life, but try and use it to spring themselves onto the new system.

They for sure have ATi on board??? rock hard man, solidly rock hard. I just hope Microsoft doesn't get with ATi so that maybe Nintendo will realize that having great graphics is something people consider these days, and maybe they'll have the BEST. Who knows, but I love Nintendo and ATi, so just hearing the 2 being together rocks everything.

While true, being first to the market gives you great inital sales, but being first to the market doesnt always mean you win. The Dreamcast had a year headstart on Nintendo and Sony and look where they are now.

Ace said it all. I think being first can be helpful, but it doesn't guarantee anything unless you're already the leader in the market. I believe that Nintendo will try to put the next console out around the same time as the "Playstation 3", but I don't believe Nintendo will beat them by more than a few weeks. Remember when the "Dolphin" was supposed to come out at the end of 2000? Nintendo just can't release a console on time. Having said that, I think the company sees the importance of going head-to-head against Sony, and I think it will try to release within a reasonable amount of time of Sony's machine: a few months rather than a year.

Yeah very true. Being first out means nothing. I think these days, since the video game systems are no longer just for "dorks" (no offense, but it's true, we were called dorks once, now everyone plays these things), but for everyone, and most of the casual gamers just follow the crowd and the hype. Best graphics usually equals alot of sales, plus anything with Playstation tagged on it gets sold. Hell if Nike made a pair of Playstations, it'd be the best selling shoes ever. But I think Nintendo really and truely has to do something about its image to the general public. See, just because of the 3 or 4 "kiddy" looking games on the Cube, people automatically label it kiddy, but they don't realize that being the market leader, Playstation 2 actualy has probably 5 to 6 times the amount of kiddy games under its wing, so why not it be the kiddy system? It's clearly the least powerful, but I guess the name says it all. Seriously, I think that Nintendo needs to end the GameCube's life with a bang, not from a gunshot, but with something huge, perhaps 6 months to a year before they let the new system loose. Something huge. Not anything to do with GBA connectivity, altho it was a novel idea, I was very disappointed by it. I hope either Sega or EA brighten up and give us the ability to select plays via the GBA's screen, which would ROCK ALL KINDS OF HARD. I hate it when my brother knows exactly what play I'm picking, so having that at my disposal would seriously open the difficulty door to football games. And Nintendo, if you see this, score some MAJOR MAJOR deals no matter what the cost. Something along the lines of GTA III. Although the game gets very boring after awhile, it sets the tone for the image of a system.

the only thing nintendo would have to worry about if it was released too early is that if its consoles was grossly out powered by sony and m$'s next console...other then that they have nothing to fear. i just hope that they fix the disc size problem, and make the controllers a little more durable.

Actually its true, as other reliable sources have claimed it also.
In my opinion and I will always have this opinion until the launch of the console is that the Spaceworld demo version of Zelda fighting Ganon is a actually a sample of what the Zelda launch title will be like. Yes 2005 next-gen platform will launch with a Zelda of that nature. Nintendo in my opinion will also have a newer handheld before the 2005 console as Nintendo wouldnt dare let the PSP to attract too much of the 3rd party developers wanting to use a bigger data format than the current GBA for more creativity.
Nintendo President has even made 2 crucial announcements: -Nintendo wont kill off the GCN like they did with the N64 and next-gen platform will be GCN compatible (and in my opinion because the GCN wont be killed-off it will be like the psone where games still get developed for it many years after and you will see heaps of ports come around after 2005, but the majority of future focus will be on the 2005 console which can play GCN software anyways). -Nintendo wont launch after the competition's next-gen platforms (sure Big N have a history of delays for getting projects right rather than rushing them out for the sake of market share before competition, but Nintendo have been researching and contracting in the past few years while M$ has been busy publically bashing Nintendo, because M$ has no answer to attracting the console markets away from $ony.
In my opinion with improved Waivebird technology using ceramic componants as previously announced by Nintendo, a newer handheld (rumoured to be based on a beefed up FX chip which was used in SNES carts, so it can create 3D models and do whatever the PSP will do), and a next-gen console that uses the same realtime loading architecture the GCN uses but the proprietory disc has larger capacity, is nothing short of industry leading. Anything else is just unsatisfactory futile.
I wouldnt mind seeing Nintendo create some Mario Paint software for GCN and further consoles. Not necessarily using the Mario characters but an Interactive Game that allows you to create 3D models without stress even which utilises the SD adapters and Nintendo could hold serious competitions where fanboys create their desired characters where the winner gets to see their character get a guernsey in a full-on Nintendo published game. Thats what I call innovation, while on the current times topic of Mature characters Nintendo is currently researching for us. Im sure M$ will copy this idea.

I don't ever remember Nintendo saying they will be "mature" just trying to update their image which will still steer towards the family friendly motief.

Judging by this generation being that the competition seems to more fierce between PS2 and Xbox trying to one-up each other, rather then either of them and GC, I believe one of them will probably be the first one out the door.

i heard the new nintendo system was dubbed nexus, the name seems more likely to stick than dolphin did (although someone told me that was just the PROJECT name) a friend of mine told me it looked kinda like an ericsson (yes i know that division got bought out and is no longer called that) cable modem cept bigger, anyone know where and if i can find pics and/or stats nintendo should do what sony did with PS2, and keep BW Compatibility, but go for fullsized dual-layer DVDs this time

I've read from GMR (that biast again GC mag) that the N5 (tempory non-official name) is comin out in 2005 or 2006...then i read that it was comin out in 2006 from some site on the internet. ...from GMR i got a real good pic of the N5 it's looks like the SNES but round....it's got the 4 little round parts comin off the "corners" but the center of it is a flat, slightly domed circle. and it looks COOL! it also has NO controller ports cause it's controllers are completely WIRELESS and it's 8 PLAYER. it can play DVD's which is what the GC should've been. it's got a bunch of stuff for online capabilities too which will hopefully be USED unlike GC has been so far. it didn't have a controller pic but the system was enough to make me come here and tell you about it and thas sayin a lot...i'm lazy hopefully comin soon and if you don't beleive me check the magazine racks for a GMR mag.

Did you even read the article? The "N5" that GMR has pictures of is an artist conception of what they think it'll look like. The specs were even fake and reek of outsider overcompensation (DVD playback, analog and digital AV out, USB, ethernet, etc...).

You do realize you can pick the plays from the menu above AND below the plays in the middle, right? That way, he'll never know what play you pick, and get burnt quite often.
I think the N5 will be out for christmas 2005 in the U.S., but 3-6 months earlier in Japan.

well i have heard this theory on planetgamecube as well as in certain magazines, but i agree with them. i think nintendo should team up with apple on its next gameboy to give it more features. we have seen that people will pay more for more features. and with sonys and nokias hand helds having so many features, nintendo might want to add a few themselves to keep up with the group. this goes for their next console as well. i believe that nintendo should put out a joint project, like the Q, between themselves and panasonic for their next console. they should at least allow it to play dvds. although it may seem totally usless, what do u have to lose by putting one in there. no matter how much i would like them to stick to games, times are changing and if they dont change as well, theyll be gone soon enough. nintendo has what it needs to succeed, they just need to follow up on it.

If Nintendo's next system launches with Zelda,Mario, Smash Bros, and Too Human they cannot almost certainly not fail. If they make the system look cooler than the Q and the Platinum GameCube that wouldn't hurt either.

the Q certainly looks better then the ps2 and xbox....this really wasnt a good looking gen if u ask me. the cube is too cubeish the xbox is too big and ugly, and the ps2 is kind of weird but kind of cool at the same time. but i think u can only make it so cool. i think nintendo will be alright...i definitely like the look of the gbasp....someone over there has been doing their homework lately. and despite all my negative feelings towards nintendo, i really think things will work for them in the end. i just think that their new president knows what he is doing, and it seems that he is repairing old relationships as well as making new ones with other companies. nintendo just has too much going for them to roll over and die.
