Title: Another Code: R, Kioku no Tobira
Post by: Bill Aurion on October 02, 2008, 10:03:42 AM
Literally translated as "R, The Door of Memories," CING has returned and blessed us with a Wii sequel to the fantastic DS game (known as Trace Memory in the U.S.)!  If you don't know what Trace Memory/Another Code is, then you are BANNED from NWR until you go and play it...

We will be controlling Ashley once again in a 3D environment, this time with camera set down behind the back instead of a bird's-eye view like the original.  Character models and backgrounds have a stylistic shaded approach, which is particularly nice on the eyes.  We will also most likely be using the Wiimote to manipulate objects in puzzles, and the DTS looks to be returning yet again.

MORE INFO AS SOON AS I CAN GET MY GRUBBY HANDS ON IT!

I like the look a lot.  I hope they take advantage of the added system abilities and give us even more variety in the gameplay.

I'd love to see some button event things similar to RE4.  :)

Another Code on DS was seriously one of my most anticipated titles ever, I was SO EXCITED for that game. AND NOW I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS! My pants are already on the floor. Oh wait they've been like that all day. Still!

Art style is lovely, and Big Nose McNostril the Cowboy Cop is the best new character ever.

Looking at the on screen interface, it looks like we have a mini map on the left and on the right a compass, a backpack, and a card of some sort. I'm guessing the backpack is inventory and the card is save/options, but what about the compass? Also, guessing from the arrows on each side of the screen, you go from scene to scene and move around in that area, just like a traditional PC adventure game.

=)

As for the compass, the positioning of the needle doesn't change in any of the shots, so it may just be a usable item...

What is it about people with prematurely white hair that is just awesome?

Anyway, I can't wait to be looking at things and pokin' stuff.  Adventure games need to make a serious comeback, and Another Code will carry the torch!

That deputy is hitting on Ashley, and making her uncomfortable.

Oh goodness!

~ Story takes place two years after the original game (Ashley is 16 years old...)
~ Ashley is invited to Lake Juliet, where her father's research facility is...
~ Ashley is looking for information that will lead to answers concerning the death of her mother...

Been way too busy to even post news...

Anyway, the official site is LIVE (http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/rnoj/index.html#), with four beautiful new clips hidden in the gameplay system section (the third button)...

How often does Ashley blush in this game?

What can players and NPCs do to make her blush?

It's side-scrolling? Wow..

Also, the forensics part looks fun. A Wii game based on that would be great.

maybe i was the only one but i thought the DS game was BORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRING.

I played maybe and hour or two when I rented it on gamefly and i thought it was ok, but not compelling enough to continue playing. The puzzles were just to vague and story felt bland.

big fat meh.

I told you the game was too big for you...

You have to think and it isn't racist enough for ya.

Hee Hee Hee.

Another Code was very bland, but that has its own charm. I reminds me of the books I read as a kid.

I...I don't get it... >=|

No real story details out of this besides Ashley's bag being stolen at the beginning of the game, and that it doesn't all revolve around Lake Juliet...Outside of that, Ashley is trying to recover memories of her mother, who Ashley remembers going to Lake Juliet with in the past...

Then she'll be trapped in a haunted light house and teams up with BARRY BURTON to make a daring escape.

I was going to say something to the effect of: Chills? Like the time you had that dream where you woke up in the middle of night to the fluttering of your window curtains. But wait, you didn't leave your window open. That's when you notice Link, naked. X-D

But really, does this game play like Mist or is it more casually oriented?

Why haven't you played the original?  You deserve Greenie... (http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc48/BillAurion/Assorted/groanface.gif)

Puzzles required the player to think about and utilize the DS' special features, and this game will probably be no different in respect to the Wii...Casually-oriented?  Some hardcore weeaboos had trouble with some of the original's puzzles, if that's what you want to know...

Opposed to the other times where I wasn't? Did I just stumble upon a gold mine?

I didn't know the original was a good game! And yes, that's exactly what I wanted to know.
