Title: FFCC: Echoes of Time
Post by: Pale on October 01, 2008, 10:10:34 AM
Apparently a new crystal chronicles game/games  for Wii and DS.

Color me confused.

Also, that Mii integration is laughable, but I'm quite excited.

Wait, Wii and DS playing the same online game, at the same time?

Did I get this right?

I have no idea what it is.  I can't read either of the languages in that link. =P

Whoa...

This would be 100 times more awesome if it let me use the same character in my Wii and my DS. Can you imagine? Playing at home, then playing on the go?

This is like, a milestone in videogaming history.

That sounds exactly like what the PSP promised to do for games like Gran Tourismo and back then we were all complaining about how they expect people to buy a game twice...

Grand Turismo...? I never liked car games, but come on. What's there to do in a GT game? Unlock what, more cars? This is an RPG. Leveling up, getting armor, items, weapons, continuing missions, etc.

You do not 'have' to buy the game twice. If its the same game, you can just buy one, either Wii or DS. But, if you get them both, you get the extra play time. It's an option and a really good one IMO.

I didn't know that this had been attempted already, excuse my "whoa" reaction :)

Can Wii players play online with other Wii players?

DOES IT SAY THAT?

So ummm... Is this the game that I have been waiting forever for? The one where we got that trailer of the kid flying around and everything? Those screen shots all look like DS shots so maybe the Wii version is that CC game?

No, Wii players can only play with PSP players, DUH!

Ehh... I thought this was what Ring of Fates and Crystal Bearers was supposed to be in the first place. I wonder if the Wii version is going to look like the DS version. If that's the case, why would I buy either version for $50 (assuming that's the price since this is Square Enix we're talking about here)?

Crystal Bearers and Rings of Fate were always meant to be separate products, with Rings of Fate focused on multiplayer and Crystal Bearers focused on a single-player experience...

Yeah this is what I hoped the original FFCC would be.  A game you could continue at home or on the go.

I'm not too sure if I'm going to be happy with this game.  It feels like it's going to be the same thing as Ring of Fates, and while Ring of Fates was a little bit of fun, it got a little old by the third stage or so, and never livened up, unfortunately.

I hope I'm wrong, because I loved the first FF:CC.

Glad to see Crystal Bearers is still alive and well!  I've been anticipating that game for a looong time.

One question, now that we have Wii Speak for Wii and voice chat available for DS, will this game have voice chat?  This type of gameplay and lack of a keyboard on the DS version for communication just seems awkward.  I wonder if the Wii version will support USB keyboards?

I'm not sure Gylldas.Maybe NWR can do a interview to find out some things. We hardly know anything.

If anybody is gonna import this could you show the Crystal Bearers Video when you get it.Maybe our Japanese Correspondent can let us know about it.

Game has a release date for the US.March 24th 2009.
Price for both games are $39.99.

It seems March is going to be a great month for Wii owners.

I assume you mean $39.99 each.  GAWD I hate how Square inflates their DS games prices however the Wii version is a nice surprise.  Is it confirmed that it is online capable or just local play?

Yes I mean both games are $39.99.
I'm not to sure about your second question. There isn't much info.
We need a NWR interview!!!

I believe both versions are online enabled here's the Faqs from the PR email:

* Play anytime, anywhere with anyone! Multiplayer connectivity reaches new heights in FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: Echoes of Time, where players can team up or compete with friends and players around the world
* The intuitive control scheme introduced in FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: Ring of Fates® returns, now adapted to Wii for double the action
* Players can switch between single and multiplayer modes at any time while playing, enjoying two great gaming options in one integrated experience
* A personalized hero can be generated from a choice of the four familiar races of the series; Clavats, Lilties, Selkies or Yukes. Players joining from the Wii can also introduce their Miis to the world of FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES
* Create and customize materials, armor and equipment for characters with tailored appearances and abilities -- no two heroes will be the same!
* Players can continue to enjoy the game even after completing the main adventure, as the New Game+ feature provides increased difficulty and better items with every new round
* A vast selection of quests delivers hours of fun!

They don't inflate them in Europe but then again games cost 39.99€ here anyway.

At this rate it almost seems like FFCC will overtake the main series... I wonder what would have happened with these games had Nintendo not done that Fund Q thing back in the day.

I'm going to assume a character is tied to a system though... So while it would be really expensive to do, it's probably impossible to buy both versions and play the same character at home and on the road.

Some have reported that the DS-Wii linkup has game-delaying lag.  Anyone prefer onrine Brawl instead?
