NWRers are having a hard time setting up matches for games. I think we can make this better with a superior chat vehicles.
This is what I propose, a new chat protocol. Remember every new feature that actually works well, loads fast, you don't have to host it, and it can make this forum more popular and the site over all.
This is called Chatango. They are chat rooms that can be embedded into a page. They load quick and don't have to take up a lot of room.
Look at this example, you see a normal forum, with the chat embedded at the bottom:

It works great. I think we should implement it. And NWR doesn't have to host it. Plus it's free. Here, I made one:
I'll be in the chat room. But if you wanna make one for NWR forums, go to chatango.com I know a few matches were already made, I'd like to see more.

I was yesterday for like 4 hours.
They need to embed it. It'll be way better, because your obligated to be in the chat.

Ya I think it would be really cool. I mean, lets say you are surfing the site, if you've signed up with chatango, it will remember who you are. And say you are just surfing the forums, and someone in the chat you notice keeps saying they wanna brawl. Well you had no intention of brawling, but the chat made you curious.

As you can see, it didn't work out so well.
He tried it with mafia. Not the whole site, plus it would still better because the chat box literally EMBEDDED into the forums.

Just tried it out, no pressing enter to send a message is pretty lame.... hmm.
Funny enough, pressing enter did send the message on the first day. Daaaman must have changed the settings of the room since then (without realizing it).

You actually have to register or something I think. I don't have that problem. Pro, do you still experience this?

I experienced it as of yesterday (SeaMonkey/Mozilla browser).
Another issue is once a temp user creates a name, it's only good for that session, and is permanently inaccessible afterwards.

I'm in the chat room right now, and enter sends the messages just fine for me. It's like the site can't make up its mind.

Besides, vudu will never use it because he can't fix his typos.

I checked it out. Pretty cool. So, enter is supposed to work? It looks like mine was in some sort of larger editing mode, in which Enter was just a carriage return instead of a Send.

We'll have to look at this and see how it fits in with other changes we plan on making to the site. Instituting something like this requires a bunch of us to sit down in a virtual room - filled with internet magic - and look at it from all angles, and that hasn't happened yet.

There, I replaced the Java chat with a CGI chat. It still goes to the same IRC room. I also added a link to it in the forum news box. Tell me what you think.

It's an improvement! Unfortunately, it's still dead in there (unless you're a hot chick).
I think DaaAAaAAAaAaHhAAaAaMan really wanted a chat at the bottom of the main forums page that you automatically logged into when you visited the forums.

Well look a little progress is still progress. But that is what I want, check out the links I posted, they should examples of what would be perfect. And you'll see the performance is fine too. And you don't have to host the app.
