I saw Chad Kroeger from Nickleback at a restaurant in Langley BC (my hometown) once. He was talking on a cel phone the whole time and laughed at me when I walked by him "on the way to the washroom". Considering he laughed when my friend did the same thing I don't think we fooled him. The coolest thing about it was that usually any celeb will be in Vancouver. The odds of seeing one in Langley (which is like the furthest suburb from downtown) is very rare.
Aside from that I've only encountered famous people in situations where I'm supposed to see them like at an autograph signing or something.

I played a round of golf with Phil Mickelson and Tom Lehman a few years ago. I have also spoken to Chris Pronger on several occasions as he and my wife are old school friends. Also once when getting groceries we saw Kim Bassinger in the store (she was in town filming a movie), we never approached her however.

I met Kevin Smith at a lecture. and Jason Mewes at their comic book store here in jersey.(Clerks,Mall Rats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay amd Silent Bob, Jersey Girl) Kevin Smith is real down to earth, and Jay, is, well Jay...
I also met Michael Keaton years ago, during the making of 'Clean and sober'. The house in the movie was in my development in southern Jersey. He was real cool, and signed a bunch of stuff.
Also, Allen Iverson hangs at TGIF in Philly, so I walked up to him once, ..once. He had alot of big dudes with him, but he too, was extremely cool. Thats about it for me. Oh wait, I was on the 'Al Albert show'(if anyone knows what that is) when I was like, 4. I lost the joke contest, so i hate mr. Albert.

I met Mandy Moore when she was in Bankstown Square, even got a kiss off her! No kidding! She is VERY tall though. I actually saw Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen at Bondi. I was on the bus though. So it would have been really something to put on my website! He's not really famous, but Tim Bailey, the weather man (when he was still a presenter for Totally Wild) came to our school when I was in year 5, cause my teacher's son was a magician who worked with animals (Totally Wild is a show about wildlife and such).
Oh, and let's not forget me, Mario and Infernal Monkey with Jade Gatt and Ryan Lapp from Cheez TV a couple of weeks back!

God called me once - it was the wrong number.
The only famous person I've ever met is Susan Fletcher, who nobody has heard of anyway - I have a signed copy of her book, Dragon's Milk.

The past two year, my school's Beta Club and golf team members got to carry the score signs during a Legends of the PGA (Senior PGA...) tourney at the nearby World Golf Village in historic St. Augustine, FL. I'm sure everyone else who I went with was famous, but my best match up was with Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus (who also designed this particular golf course they played on). I got autographed golf balls from all of 'em. Every so often the golfers would make a little small talk with me.
I think the photographer/camera men make an effort not to get us score-sign-holders in the shot because I watched the tourney on TV and looked at pics in the newspaper and didn't see any of the other people. However, people tell me that I did manage to make it in to a shot on ESPN.

I was sitting right behind Alan Rickman at the Royal Court Theatre in Sloane Square a few weeks ago. I guess he likes hitting up the theatre. Everyone kept saying "look! Its the professor!". I'm sure he was annoyed.

i...
...sold Joe Dumars (ex Detroit Pistons player) a computer. ...ran into Jeff Bridges. He looked like a bum (not meaning to be an insult), but he seemed to be a nice guy. ...almost sold Snoop Doggy Dogg some Dreamcast games. One of his bodyguards tried to get some free (and unreleaed) games off of me. ...actually sold some games to an NSYNC member. i didn't know who he was until one of my coworkers told me. ...talked to Tim Allen about some games. He hand't shaved and looked pretty rough. i guess i was expecting the "Tim" from Home Improvement... ...saw Eminem in our store (then Babbages) back in 98 (?). i didn't know who he was, and when someone told me, i still didn't know.

As a former Winnipeger and huge Jets fan I saw Khabibulin get his first NHL shut out. Reminds me, I was drunk at a party with Keith Tkchuck (he has totaled btw)

i used to work at a Gamestop in Dearborn, Michigan. Dearborn is right next door to Detroit, and so a lot of celebrities are in and out of the area. The mall where Gamestop is is the closest to Detroit, so i assume they come there from downtown Detroit, where a lot of events are held. Also, celebs like Tim Allen and Eminem are Michigan natives, so it's not completely odd to see them there.
Before working at Gamestop i worked at a Best Buy, but there weren't near as many famous (and near famous) people there as in the mall.
As bitter as irony is though, i don't really care to meet any of these "famous" people. i'd rather meet Tetsuya Mizaguchi, Shigeru Miyamoto, or Yuji Naka. Or members of this forum, Rick Powers, Louie the Cat, etc. There's really very few people in the mainstream US media that i care to meet.

I feel honoured and priviliged to have met Billy Berghammer and Rick Powers on two separate occasions. They were both nice and interesting people. Most of the other PGC staff were agreeable as well. A+++++ WOULD MEET AGAIN!

I saw Sergio Aragones (artist and co-writer of Groo) at a small comic convention here in Vancouver a couple years ago. He drew me a 3-second sketch of "lil-Groo" which I gave to my sister. The guy's amazing. He really can draw almost anything in a matter of seconds, and apparently gives these personalized sketches to any and every fan he meets. I also bumped into him a bit later in the lineup for the hot dog vendor. I was amazed to learn that he eats hot dogs. I don't know why that amazed me, but it did.
I got an autograph from Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson on Stargate SG-1) when they were filming across the street from my house.
I saw Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang from Smallville) at the same place (it's very popular) signing some autographs, but I didn't stop for one because I was on a form of autopilot and walked right past her. I figure if I wasn't on autopilot I would've forgotten to breath or someting equally embarrassing. I have to get her autograph next time!
Nicole deBoer (Ezri Dax of Star Trek DS9) was presumably filming The Dead Zone in that same spot, but I didn't know anything about The Dead Zone at the time, and didn't go see what they were up to.

I live in LA so I've seen so many I've forgotten. I used to work in Brentwood so I saw tons of stars / celebs. Among the top of my head are I once sneaked into a theater as a teenager & saw & got Tom Selleck's autograph ( they let him in early so he could sit down & his son & wife could sit around him to hide him ). Once in the Virgin Megastore in Holywood I was the only non-celeb in the laserdisc section ( about 10 years ago )... it was the Hughes Brothers ( the directors of Menance 2 Society, Dead Presidents & From Hell ) and Carey Elwes ( The hero from The Princess Bride ) and me. I was once in the same movie theater as Quentin Tarrantino & Micheal Moore ( Guns & Columbine ). Supposedly I was right in back of Jack Nicholson in a line at a newstand but I didn't look up until he left & the cashier said so. I've seen Arnold Schwarzenneger at the True Lies premiere. I worked in a gourmet market in Brentwood in which movie stars & tv stars came in every single day. Once I saw Janeane Garrofallo in the Virigin Megastore and she must have noticed I noticed her because she kinda stalked me a bit.
BUT the coolest memory is Scott Glen ( played FBI director in Silence of the Lambs, firefighter in Backdraft, etc.). I saw him in Westwood while waiting in a long movie line.... I saw him walking toward me, I couldn't remember his name but I knew it and as he passed I remembered and whispered to my friend ' hey thats Scott Glen ' in a small whisper.... he was like 12 feet away and he turns slightly around and gave me a smile and kept walking. He was cool.

I'm kind of related to "Uncle Jesse" from full house, ya know John Stamos. My cousin married his nephew. We met him at the wedding. He was nice. Well, he doesn't really count as a celebrity, because, well, its full house. I don't even know why I told you this. I'm ashamed.

But you must admit at the end of the day Billy and probalily everybody else working for PGC is more nuts than your contest entrants. I mean you run the site everyday. You guys are tha pinicale of Nintendoism(Term used loosely). PGC goes through financial, food, server, navigation, langauge, Xbox/PS2/Nintendo fanboys, plain old fanboys, celebs and other unimaginable problems so I can turn on the computer and say "Hey Louie the cat wrote something". But out of you guys he must be the most nuts.

I stand by my previous assesment. Trust me many of the contestants are far more obsessive about this stuff than many of us. You'll see soon enough.
