Title: Good Idea.............. READ!
Post by: THE ONE on April 06, 2003, 06:36:03 PM
This just an idea but its a good one. wouldn't it be cool if nintendo put all the mario games for nes and snes on a single or double disk gamecube game. like what sega did with their sonic game collection..... i forgot what it was called. but i think you all know what i mean. Wouldn't be great to play SUPER MARIO BROS. 3 again ...... you all know it would be awsome. so my idea is that we get a bunch of people to ask nintendo to try to do something like this for us kinda like how they brought that zelda bonus disk to the U.S. because the fans asked for it......so if any body has contact information let us know how so we can try to get this plan to work. Even their sale would go up!
Oh yeah im also sick of having to download super mario bros from animal crossings.

It wouldn't take 2 discs. The biggest Mario prior to sunshine was N64 (not counting stuff like Paper Mario, just main line), and it was like 4 MB (maybe 8 MB). Regardless, Ninty could fit all of them, plus emulation software, plus a bunch of extras on a 1.5 GB disc easy.
Hell, all of the old Mario games could fit in to the GC's RAM, no sweat. You couldn't actually do anything without an emulator, but still, it just shows how much bigger the GC is.

You need an Action Replay code to unlock Mario and Zelda from animal crossing. That of have someone trade it to you. I hope Nintnedo releases the code for it so all of that will not be needed.

Why would Nintendo do that when they can sell us "Advance" versions of the games for thirty bucks a pop?

Why would you want to buy 5 different marios games for the GBA for 30 bucks a peice (which comes to a grand total of 150$) when you can spend 50$ and get 5 or even more mario games on a GC disc.

Sigh. That's not what he said. He's saying Nintendo would rather sell us the games seperately and make more profit. I highly doubt anyone WANTS to buy a lot of GBA games instead of one GC game.
On another note, can we please stop naming topics with "NEW GAMECUBE GAME" and whatnot when all it ends up being is your own little opinion over what game should/should not be made. It makes some people think that you have learned new valid information, when in reality it's just your opinion.

He said "Why would Nintendo do that when they can sell us "Advance" versions of the games for thirty bucks a pop?"
Nintendo knows people would buy the GBA games. They make more money making ports than slapping all the games on one disc. Also, they already did something like this, it was called Super Mario All-Stars.

The One why do you start threads like that, you know, making us think theres a new GCN game on the way but instead your just talking about your own game ideas. Very dissapointing.

Im sorry for making it seem like their was a new game on the way but i thought more people would read it if i called it like that.
AND IT DID WORK!!!

It might have worked, but that's a far cry from it being right.
You should get one chance to pull a stunt like this at most, and then all zig should be moved. For great justice.
Why? Because it sucks. Just like the post by wikedskraper or whatver and the outwar crap.
There's no excuses.

So are people traumatized now because what the thread was actually about was different than what the author led them to believe? Sure maybe it's not right, but is that big of a deal, to get all worked up JUST because someone used a ploy to get you into the thread? I'll admit I thought the thread was about a new Gamecube game, too (exactly as the title reads), but I also have to admit THE ONE raises some interesting points and I like his idea. I'm not saying everyone should trick people into reading their threads, but it's not really worth the effort complaining about it.

Ok, so I'm going to start topics like GTA 4 ON GAMECUBE!!!!1 and then say in the thread "Wouldn't that be cool?" and people would be ok with this?

Of course people wouldn't *like* it, but I severely doubt it would cause them so much mental anguish they can't stand it. It's only a minor inconvinience at the most, at least for me.

Ahh, much better.
Now then. Yes, I agree, a compilation would be excellent. In fact, I'd love for Nintendo to take a hint from Midway and Activision, and release an "NES Allstars" disk. It could have all the Marios, Zeldas, Metroid, Fire Emblem...um, any other notable Nintendo games from Nintendo, and then go and get the better third party/second party titles: Final Fantasy, Tecmo Super Bowl, Dragon Warrior 1-4, etc etc etc. I think you get the idea.
A followup to this would be an SNES Allstars, the likes of which would more or less make everyone soil their pants all at once. Imagine the possibilities. Mario World 1/2, Mario RPG, Super Metroid, Zelda: LTTP, Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, FF 4/6, Lufia 2, Star Ocean, Seiken Densetsu 2/3 (Secret of Mana to the us USA ppl, along with its not-stateside-released counterpart sequel)....the list goes on an on.
If they wanted to make a decent profit from these, they could divide them up and put maybe 5 games on each disk, and then sell them as sets. So you'd have an "NES RPG Set," a "Mario Set," etc etc etc.
But yea, knowing the general economics of the situation, Nintendo would rather packege their games through Animal Crossing or the GBA.
BTW, this idea isn't all that new, just to let you know....

Animal Crossing is Nintendo's Idea of a Compilation game and thats all were going to see out of them. But it will be interesting to see what new minigames will be in AC2 and if any super NES games will make the cut.

I just wish the made a sequal to mario BROS already, im tired of these games devoted to mario. I want luigi, 2 player mario. What happened to the good old days where these brothers could save the princess from the evil bowser together. With yoshi as their faithfull aprentice. What happened to the beloved sock, racoon suit, and p wing. I want another mario brothers. Why can't myamoto do this. Doesn't he realise we all want it. The greatest duo of all time. Don't you all agree. Plz nintendo bless us.

If Nintendo were to persue making a Gamecube verision of Mario All-Stars, hopefully they will look to the underappreciated Sonic Mega Collection for some of the neat features. For those that have never seen the game, SMC features character and box art and even scanned copies of the original Genesis instruction manuals. It would be nice to see all of the small details, even interviews with Miyamoto-san or Kondo-san detailing their involvement with the series. Chances are that if the Big N were to ever seriously consider the project, they would hand it to Nintendo Software Technologies here in the US or get a 2nd party developer to bring it together under their supervision. Here's to dreaming...............

You've said that numerous times. Now you're going to have to tell me why it was so bad.

This certainly isn't the first remark you've made like this. Quit posting flamebait. You know that your opinion is in opposition with the vast majority, and that tossing out comments like this is just going to get people upset. You can dislike a good game without causing an uproar about it.

They already did on SNES. SNES owners could also purchase the 2 games on that platform, and then there's Super Mario 64. Considering Sunshine is still for sale, there are only 3 games that they would be able to add. I doubt you'll see it.
On top of that, they also ported Super Mario Bros. and Lost Levels in Mario DX. They have ported Super Mario Bros. 2 in Mario Advance. They have ported Super Mario World in Mario Advance 2. They ported Yoshi's Island in Mario Advance 3.
That being said, by using my Gamecube and GB Player, I am able to play all of the Mario series except Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario 64. Hardly enough to warrant a compilation if you ask me.

Well couldn't they include some of the Mario spin-offs? I mean the two RPGs, Yoshi's Story, some of the mini-games from the Mario Party series, I'm sure they could work in some cool features, I mean Mario does have a huge history.
And quit bragging about your GB Player...

Not a bad idea. I say Nintendo should do it like a month before releasing a new Mario (that follows the series). If they can afford it, make it similar to the Wind Waker/Ocarina of Time preorder thing. That would be cool. Then again...people might get too spoiled and expect preorder deals for every big Nintendo game.
