Title: Nintendo Power Subscribers
Post by: BeautifulShy on August 22, 2008, 01:24:58 PM
Do we have any here?

I do, only because it was 3 dollars for the year.  I get slightly excited when it comes in the mail, only to set it next to the toilet after 3 minutes of reading.  Then on follow up visits to the pot I rarely pick it back up.

Can't be much more useless than GameInformer. Someone had bought a subscription for me some months back and I barely even read anything in the issues. Outside of the more recent write ups concerning Guitar Hero 4 and Wolfenstein, it's all old news by the time it comes in the mail.

I subscribed to PC Gamer years and years ago, but that was when the included demo disc meant something to my broadband-impaired computer.

Agreed, GameInformer is absolute garbage.  Personally, Edge is the only current video game mag out there I can sit down with for my then 20 mins and enjoy.

I get GI and EGM and they both suck balls. GI was a biproduct of getting my Edge card as GS (Which has easily paid for itself 100 times over already), and EGM just started coming, not sure how.

I usually skim through every issue when they come and after 10 mins I never pick them up again.

I used to be an NP subscriber for a long time a long time ago. I've considered resubscribing but then realized that they never have anything to say that I don't already know.

I stopped subscribing to Nintendo Power when I started noticing verbatim reprints from nintendo.com.

I subscribe to Nintendo Power. They do enough previews of things I care about to be worth it and there are times when announcements I miss or ignore on the web catch my eye in the magazine.

I stopped subscribing when it was apparent they'll never provide cool subscriber gifts and DVDs forever.

Same.  I find it an enjoyable enough read while I eat my breakfast.

I've been subscribed to Nintendo Power since '98 (I think the first issue I got had Ken Griffey Jr. on it); it was probably best between the reboot in 2005 and the switch to Future US (the new guys aren't as good), but I still enjoy it.

I've also been getting EGM for the last six years or so, but they cover games I don't care about (namely PS3 games) too much to be invested in it anymore. Plus, like so many people on the internet, they take video games way too seriously. When I read about stuff like "civil rights for gamers", I throw up in my mouth a little bit.

I get Nintendo Power and EGM, the latter for free.

I miss the newsletter Nintendo used to publish before Nintendo Power existed.

Oh yeah, I get EGM too. That magazine has gone way downhill. The subscription ran out about 6 months ago but it's set to auto-renew and I couldn't find a way to stop that so I'm still getting it despite the fact that I haven't paid the bill they sent. I wonder when they'll stop sending them; I don't even read the issues anymore, they sit in the mail pile until I put them with the recycling.

I had been a subscriber to Nintendo Power since the SNES days, but I ended up not renewing last year because I just didn't have the time to read it anymore... =(

As a UK resident the official Nintendo magazine for the UK really is awful so the only magazine I read these days is Edge.

I'm a subscriber and I love it.  Good mag.

Just got the new mag yesterday, I was pleased to find a few new reviews not yet done by the major site.  I'll give them credit for that.

I'm a subscriber since last year and saw the migration to Future and I've decided that I won't renew again. There's little I don't know by the time the mag gets to me although it is nice to read interviews.

I thought the Sonic Chronicles one in the most recent issue was pretty good.

Anyone wondering of the big N still has influence over Nintendo Power, look no further than they're new issue.  They hyped Wii Music as one of the 15 best games from E3 coupled with many praises for it.

2.The Conduit
3.Castlevania:Order of Ecclesia
4.Megaman 9
5.Animal Crossing:City Folk
6.Rhythm Heaven
7.Chrono Trigger
8.Wario Land:Shake It!
9.Wii Sports Resort
10.GTA:Chinatown Wars
11.Major Minor's Majestic March
12.Castlevania:Judgement
13.Wii Music
14.Sonic Chronicles:The Dark Brotherhood
15.Facebreaker KO Party

To be fair, they should let their readers know they'd be better serviced with a $10 Casio Keyboard.   ;)

But, to give credit where credit is due, the rest of the list is ok.

They filed it below Cv:J which as I understand completely sucked at E3.

What praises? The text under Wii Music is 100% facts, mostly describing how the game is played and some of the included songs.

Is anyone planning to crash their party at the Nintendo World Store? I was going to go and ask the staff insane and valid questions, but I may just show up to grab free swag.

Including it on a top 15 list.  Show me one other website that would include such an abomination on a most wanted list (except Gonintendo).

Well considering that was all Nintendo showed at E3 they had to write something about it and stick it somewhere. I also saw Wii Music on a top 21 Wii Games from GamePro.

They are going to stop adding entries tomorrow, so jump at the chance.

There's a million other games that could have taken that spot, hell, I'll even take "The Price is Right" over that!

If only Miyamoto brought Bob Barker onstage instead of that horrendous Nintendo Tree House crew all would be right with the world.  8)

What scares me is that both Wii Music and Castlevania Judgment are ranked higher on that list than Sonic Chronicles.

That press release is so devoid of Oxford commas... which makes my brain hurt...

...severely.  o_O
