And yeah, Denis used to post here. Maybe he'll come back now that he can't go to GAF. What would you all think if the next SK game was announced for Wii and Denis started to post on NWR's forums?
I've been friends with Denis for a long time (we have a standing agreement to play Too Human together, and I know for a fact that he is playing his own game even after the reviews), but he did a lot of provoking at GAF and ultimately did a disservice to his game and all the other people who worked on it. The tale of Too Human's development is dripping with his mistakes.

I'd love for any developer to come hear and show that our little voices are heard. HOTD Overkill and The Conduit are good examples of listening to the crowd.
I like what I've read from Denis. I've enjoyed Legacy of Kain, ED, and Metal Gear TS. I don't agree with his stance on a 'one console' future, but seeing how I'm not in the industry I only have as much say in the matter as what is in my wallet.
I believe though that game makers can tell interesting stories on the Wii, and have compelling art direction, and provide graphics that are clean. I'd like to think that Denis sees the potential of the Wii and is looking forward to announcing Eternal Darkness II next year exclusively for the Wii. Because story telling and gameplay do not rely on a cutting edge graphics engine.

I remember the days in which he used to post on the IGN boards. He would come in bring updates regarding Eternal Darkness, ask for opinions and ideas and I thought it was pretty cool of him.
I honestly admire developers who take the time from their busy schedule to come and talk to fans and offer their thoughts on the game.
However, what both Dyack and Luc Bernard did wrong was challenge your potential customers step down to their level.
The reality of the situation is that many gaming forums are filled with immature pricks who do nothing but troll, and believe that when a developer visits their community they have the right to insult him or her to hell and back.
Both men did the mistake of challenging them back. If they aren't contributing to the discussion and are there to gain attention ignore them. In fact, the minute someone says "F*ck you, Dyack!" ignore it. Challenging them is stepping down to their level and you lose a lot of respect points for it.
Regarding criticism, though, they should pay attention. Its understandable that they have been working on a game for years and feel immense pride and love for it. However, you sometimes must swallow your pride and admit there's something wrong and that you are willing to change it. Accept what people are saying and keep that in mind when making the game. Saying there's nothing wrong just makes you look arrogant. It may be their game but WE are the ones that decide if its worth playing.
As cliche as it may sound humility, honesty and maturity go a long way, especially if you are talking to your customers.
I personally don't feel bad for Dyack. Yes, I loved Eternal Darkness and MGS Twin Snakes, and think Silicon Knights is a talented studio. However, they need stuff like this to make them realize who they are working for and set their priorities straight.
This has marred Dyack greatly. Even if his studio creates a masterpiece worthy of praise people will remember the "Too Human"/NeoGAF fiasco and don't give him the respect he deserves.

I want to extend my heart felt praise to Dyack for insulting the NeoGaf ocmmunity, if only more would do it! Maybe he can go after Gamefaqs next.
As much as I enjoy the roast of annoying internet types doing that means being as immature as the trolls.
Yes, they can be annoying and the first thing you wish to do is to insult them with every swear word possible. However, being a better man means not stopping that low and handling things in a mature manner.
Does anyone have links to the roastings and the apparent bashings Dyack received? If he pulled a Luc Bernard then the ban was warranted. But if what he did was calmly state his disgust at the community roasting him over a game he didn't like, then I'll take back what I said about him.

Like I stated, that is basically becoming the troll. And once again, even if you have deep love for your project you have to wake up to the realization that IT MIGHT SUCK!
Since both the game is getting mixed reviews and he was banned by NeoGAF does this mean that he has been officially pwned by Gaf? :p

I wonder that too. I remember them mentioning like a month ago on the podcast that he was no longer on the staff, but I don't recall seeing it ever mentioned on the site or here in the forums why he left or when.
