Title: KORE a canceled Xbox1 game moved to Wii
Post by: Flames_of_chaos on August 17, 2008, 12:23:20 PM
Trailer here (http://next.videogame.it/kore/video/1474/)
The game looks pretty neat and gives off a big psychonauts vibe and yes it's a platformer.

ZOINK Games and SnapDragon Games have announced the development of KORE, an original platforming game based on the premise of three different characters stuck inside a robotic suit that enhances their abilities.
KORE has a bit of history, having originally been in development for release on the Xbox under the name The Kore Gang. With the game's developer going out of business the project was taken back to the drawing board. In 2007 ZOINK partnered with developer SnapDragon Games to bring the game to Wii. This process saw the game redesigned, with many new features added, plus a visual overhaul.
KORE sees players taking control of Pixie, Madboy and Rex as they explore a magical and whimsical world to fight back the Krank brothers who are attacking the centre of the Earth.
"KORE stands out not only for its rich gameplay experience and signature art style, but also for its wacky scenario and sense of humour," said Klaus Lyngeled, Creative Director at Zoink. "During the last years, a vast amount of work has gone into the design as well as into the story and cinematics, and I am sure the audience will appreciate the way we poured our heartblood into it."
ZOINK is currently looking for partners to publish the game worldwide.

My thoughts exactly. Do want.

The gameplay looks surprisingly pretty solid considering that they have no publisher yet. The only problem I saw in some areas the lighting is bad and the gameplay could be polished up a little bit more. The level design looks pretty solid. I like how the 3 main characters are inside the robot and you can switch between them whenever you want and there is a dog's scent mechanic which is pretty cool.

Bah, that timed jumping sequence looks problematic. It didn't feel like the camera was very helpful...

I love some of the comments for that gameplay video, such as:
Quote
i MUST type it in: IT IS SUPER LAME. there you go, i've done it. nintendo does not care about the core gamer anymore. very sad indeed.
If there was ever any doubt, Nintendo "abandoning the core gamer" is going to become the new never dying mantra for those who don't care about the Wii (How is Kore not a core game? ... at least they could have made a play on the name, but no...).

In the words of Elvis.
"Little less action, little more platforming"
He said that, I heard it.

Cool, there has been a dearth of platformers this generation on all platforms. Galaxy, Death Jr., Ratchet and Clank.... um Kameo maybe?

Isn't this old news? I'm sure I heard about this coming to Wii months ago.

Me too, I think I've seen the trailer before too.

I like it. It has this ratchet&clank/banjokazooie feel to it, and the music is also delightful. It seems to me like a fun third party platform that I will be willing to spend my $49.99+tax. Oh, oh, I also like that we control a character that controls a mechanoid suit with a few interesting tools to have fun with. I don't think there's a release date set for this game, is there? This fall would be great for its release.

New Kore Gang trailer and a segment on X-blades for PS3/360 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_woXp2Rhso)
Everything is in German so any fluent German speakers care to help us out on what they are talking about?

Basic gist of it: The game doesn't have a publisher. The rest seems to be about the exact movements of the game (consoles and developers, seems it originated from Shiny Entertainment (you know, Earthworm Jim, MDK, Enter The Matrix)) and of course a short description. I think I've read one in English already but anyway: You control a robot that has three pilots (another article said each has diferent abilities) and fight against an invasion from the center of the Earth. It's just as outlandish as you'd expect from something originating with Shiny. They're citing Tim Burton and Psychonauts as well.
As for X-Blades, it's crap (completely mindless button mashing with lock-you-in-a-room-while-spawning-waves-of-enemies gameplay) but who didn't see that coming? To complete their equation, Devil May Cry + Heavenly Sword + Russia = guaranteed disaster.
Bah, MTV is fucking annoying to watch, why the **** do they cut back and forth between two interviews? No wonder attention spans are shortening to Fahrenheit 451 levels.
