Title: Classic Film
Post by: wandering on August 05, 2008, 01:29:37 AM
It's not my pick, but I'm one of the few people I know who genuinely enjoys watching Citizen Kane and doesn't find it boring.

I picked the only one I've ever seen.  (I'm pretty sure you know which one that is.)

Isn't Citizen Kane supposed to be the best movie ever made or some such bullshit?

When Ernest sees the Christmas tree on the freeway and starts weaving through traffic in reverse to save it. CLASSIC. Plus, I had a crush on the girl in the movie when I was a kid.

I propose that we all overwhelmingly vote Earnest and await Svevan to come in and **** a brick.

Citizen Kane is beautifully made and, at the time, rewrote the rules of filmmaking.  The story itself is interesting but not exactly captivating.  I think the film has some entertainment value but is more valuable as a historical marker.

Seven Samurai is the only Kurosawa samurai film that I can stay awake through.  Really enjoyed Rhapsody in August, though.

Casablanca is not only impeccably made but still highly entertaining.  I loved every minute of it and can't wait to see it again soon.  However, for pure entertainment value, I prefer The Maltese Falcon.  It blows my mind how some movies could be so intelligent (and some people might say vulgar) in the 1940s.

I've never seem Modern Times.  Ernest Scared Stupid is better than Ernest Saves Christmas.

I'm upset that I couldn't pick the other 3 options.

I haven't seen any of those and still voted for Ernest.

I don't know what I'm missing.

Ernest Saves Christmas is the best of the Ernest movies I've seen, but it's been revealed to me that there are some I never even knew about, like Ernest Scared Stupid.  A couple of others showed up in my TV listings a while back, and they're waiting on my DVR until I'm in an Ernest kind of mood.

Citizen Kane, i could go for the expected troll answer, but i thought Citizen Kane was a phenomenal movie. Seven samurai was pretty good, and so was casablanca.

We all know that Ernest Goes To Jail is by FAR the best Ernest movie.  He can fly and shoot lightning and ACT.

I remember the lightning, and I remember him being magnetic, and I remember a funny scene involving the destruction of a ball point pen, but I don't remember any acting.

Like UltimatePartyBear said, My favorite part of Ernest goes to Jail is when is he is on the jury and is chewing on the end of the pen which breaks and he ends up getting it all over himself and eating paper to absorb the ink in his mouth. Fantastic stuff!

I voted 7 Samurai and Modern Times.

Both are unbelievably awesome movies.

Jim Varney pulls off some nice acting by playing the escaped convict who looks exactly like Ernest.  You can identify the other character at a glance just from the way he carries himself, his facial expressions, and his tone of voice.  It's a lot more interesting than the silly alternate characters that Varney usually plays, like the old lady.

What about Sunset Boulevard? :(
