Title: Battalion Wars Series
Post by: Spinnzilla on July 21, 2008, 05:39:55 PM
One of my personal favorite more recent Nintendo francises.
Personally, Battalion Wars 1 was a helluva game. Even without multiplayer, it was still a blast to play.
BWii, finally impelmented multiplayer, but did use it to it's full extend. BWii is definately the better of the two, IMO, but the developers made somethings a little more awkward. I'm mainly talking about the aircraft controls, they just felt never quite right to me, but they're servicable and far from ruining anything. I alway wish the online was a little more robust, with allowing more than just two players.
any opinions of these games?

I bought BWii and I've enjoyed what I've played. I've still got a ton of it left to play though, I should go back and do that.

I love this series. It's a lot of fun. I wish it would sell better and I'm really really hoping the series isn't done with. But we'll see...
It's a great series and it deserves to continue. But it doesn't sell well.

DAaaMan64, do you know the sales figures for the game? (i'm just curious)
I think Nintendo barely even advertised this game. Sad, because a third game with a more robust online and wiispeak would be awesome.

YES PLZ. I agree HS. I agree.
3 player online(optional co-op) with wiispeak, TEH JIZ MAN, TEH JIZ.

That'd be a little tricky cause it might overrule the other players decisions. But you could always give each player control of specific units. One gets infantry, on gets heavy weaponry (tanks, artillery) and one gets aircraft/naval.
I would also love to see like 2/3/4 v 2/3/4 player battles.

It's my favorite series of the last two generations next to Metroid Prime.

Glad to here there are people who like it! It's a great fun game. Just a good feel to it.

Online co-op might be awkwurd without voice/chat, but I find it remarkably serviceable.
Why? Because the units are divided, which means 1 player has different duties than the other. When one player properly applies its units and takes an initiative, it should be obvious the other player must act to coincide and complement the first player using the different skill set.
Well it worked out well enough between me and Deguello.

i seriously want a 16 on 16 type battalion wars, less focus on the strategy, more focus on simply running around in those big goofy shoes and shooting each other.
that is all.

So you want something like the Star wars: Battlefront series?
I could probably dig that, but it would sacrifice the game's identity. (although the strategy is very light in the game)

Should missions have an A-rank minimum difficulty for completion, then? I'd love that.
My favorite aspect is taking 3 seconds to order 5 different units to attack 5 different targets, and watch them destroy everything around you. More interesting than running-and-gunning with deadbeat AI in "modern" shooters.

oh i definatly want starwars battlefront but that isn't what i was thinking.
i played warhawk on a friend's PS3 and kept thinking how much it was like battalion wars in style and game play, cept one was strategy (only one on one) and the other was more melee (16 on 16)
having that option in BW would be awsome.

I uh... I own both games and don't get what's so special about it. These games just don't really speak to me... they're too... well... unaccessible nichey in their game design and difficulty.

You have no killer instinct, no desire to defeat the enemy.
Which is why you fail at RE4.
