Title: Crisis on Infinite Earths The End...and Prize Polling Thread.
Post by: Spak-Spang on June 22, 2008, 10:20:53 PM
On Earth Beta:
Now that the townies have entered the weekend they are getting lazy. Now is the time to strike now that they our with their families and friends. Dasmos and Stevey jump into action and kill Crimm in front of his Bowling Alley Buddies.
Crimm was a poor Townie.
Next, they stormed the home of Pyropizm and killed him in front of his Dog and Fish...it was brutal and the Fish cried tears of sand.
Earth Beta:
Pyropizm crimm Both townies are now dead.
On Earth Alpah another body was found.
Pyropizm was found murdered with 12 coats on two pairs of pants.
"What sort of monster would kill somebody like this...we must do something?" We are going to invade Beta and save them from the Mafia Monsters.
As the townies steal a NASA Space Shuttle and fly to the opening of the Rift...another Storm began to form....It was a fierce storm that forced the shuttle to land...and Alpha was stuck in their land.
When the storm ended...the rift was sealed and the two Earth's were separated.
Finally, the Townies were safe in Alpha, and they mourned for Earth Beta, and then celebrated their victory with mojitos.
On the Earth Beta...now that Crimm and Pyropizm are dead the Mafia now have a lead of members and will rule Earth Beta with an iron fist of iron Chef goodness.
In Earth Beta the mafia win.

Everyone left on Earth Alpha are Townies.
Those left alive on Earth Beta are:
Earth Beta:
ALIVE
Dasmos- Godfather for both Earth Alpha and Beta Easycure Townie Stevey Mafia Agent
The rest of this thread is a voting thread for who you believe played the best game. You can not vote for yourself and the person that wins this poll gets a game of their choice.
You can also post a single post arguing for why you desire the prize and how you played the best...I will be reading this thread and picking who I believe played the best game...and awarding them a prize as well.
That means there are 2 prizes up for grabs. This thread will be open until Wednesday, so that means you have plenty of time to make your cases and to decide he you believe played the best game.

You know that is how this game works...you had the ENTIRE weekend to vote, which wasn't my original plan...and you could have voted right when the previous day ended which is why I always start the new day soon after closing.

MVP: Dasmos
Engineered a mafia win on Beta and pushed Alpha hard. The lack of townie organisation on Beta (and to a lesser extend on Alpha) certainly helped him, but full credit to him for playing both sides well.

It wasn't an excuse, there is no excuse, merely pointing out that people would have voted had it still been during the week. They got lucky, but as they say, sometimes being lucky is better than being good.

I nominate myself for MVP because I named all the remaining mafia members on Beta on Day 5 (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=25357.msg434410#msg434410).
If the remaining townies (and Alpha) had just listened to me, townies could have easily won.

Maybe. I'm about 70% sure I had EasyCure voting my way, if it came down to it. In the end he didn't need to, but still.
Also gonna vote DAaaMan as MVP, he did well as the Killer. Took out two mafia members and the detective, although maybe he shouldn't have been so vocal about having a role, but who knows.
Also I was kicking myself after Day 2 when the escuse for voting out Khush was because he was killed by mafia overnight. I WAS going to kill him, but then he told me about his mafia dimension swapping ability and though he could be useful. I also admit that killing Beta RAB on Day 1 was a mistake, he was aiming to use its killing power to help the Alpha mafia. I couldn't help but wonder what side his alliances would be with killing a role that would help us win in Alpha, but meant killing someone from Beta.
I'm also pretty miffed that I got the Shifty/UncleBob hits mixed up on Day 2. Although I really liked the whole two world dynamic, it wasn't just as simple as UB's the doctor, kill him. I had to try and deduce which world he occupied first.

I am not going to pretend like I knew what the hell was going on. I figured that since I died on day one and DaMaan kept claiming he wasn't mafia I would mention that I was mafia and say that nobody would believe it and see who else admitted to being Mafia. That was my one trick I had up my sleeve. It kinda backfired but I lost track of what was going on at that point.

I am going to throw two votes into this game.
DASMOS He led the mafia very well...and was one misfired hit away from defeating not only Beta Townies, but also Alpha Townies. The second day hit was against Uncle Bob and Shift Key, which both had roles, and the Mafia knew them, but had the wrong Earths...if they would of had the hits correct the game would have been 100% different.
At the same time, there was poor townie organization, because the two Earth idea was confusing, but the information was available for the Townies to have a VERY STRONG and solid alliance, but it never formulated.
Shift Key, finally got enough information to pull out a win for Alpha, and I believe he deserves major props for that.
But, I believe the second best played person that truly led to Alpha winning was: DAaaMan64. This Killer had some brilliant hits that crippled the Mafia in Alpha. He was able to get 2 Mafia Goons...and hit and killed Stevey as the Detective which prevented the Mafia of Beta to use Townie surveillance to find roles.
For that reason I am also throwing a vote for
DAaaMan64
Without him Alpha would not have won. And he was able to hide his role from the Mafia for a pretty good time.

Dasmos: And that is what I liked about the game...is trying to bring back the lack of trust in the game...and questioning who to trust.
When I got your hit for UncleBob and Shift Key I cracked up laughing for 5 minutes...because I knew you knew.
By the way, how I split the roles was different than you would think. I didn't give each Earth a protecting role, and a detective role.
I gave Alpha both the Detective and Witness role, and Beta both protective roles of Tough Guy and Doctor...the idea was to see which roles were more useful.
Then I wanted the Killer and Bounty Hunter, but they needed to be in separate Earth's, and I made it so the Bounty Hunter had to seek out the Killer in Alpha. Originally the Bounty Hunter Role would have been killed that person in both universes, and that is why he needed to be careful, but decided against that power at being too much.
The Brother and Sister Role were last minute additions because I needed 4 townie roles, and couldn't think of any other roles. The Brother and Sister had to be townies in both Earth's and KNOW that they were both townies, so that they can trust each other. If the mafia had not gotten rid of them so early they would have been a huge threat to them I have no question about it.

Because i had him fooled even though i always said i was a townie. Oh and also because as a newb i managed to survive both earths till the end. I thought i'd get voted out by the 2nd day simply because i was new at the game and everyone knew it. I think dumb luck deserves to be rewarded.
My second and less selfish pick is:
Vote Dasmos
because it sounds like he knew what he was doing. i still don't understand everything that went on, but i'll just go ahead and take your word for it that he's a good player. Oh and Dasmos, i actually DID vote for who you wanted me to vote for (Crimm i believe) but i dont know if my post ever went thru! You were the only player that even tried to pursuade me to vote a certain way, which i'll admit i didnt trust but decided to go with it because i had nothing else to go on.
oh and if i dont win a prize can i atleast get some of those Mojitos the Beta Mafia is having??? thnx

Though, now that I think about it...I can give one prize to Earth Beta and another prize for Earth Alpha...that could be better.
What do you guys think?

well everyone else was casting multiple votes, or was that just nominations? OK then I will change my vote to Shift Key for the entire game then. Easycure did last a long time for a newbie but Shift Key was pretty good also.

Title: Re: Crisis on Infinite Earths The End...and Prize Polling Thread.

Vudu's claim is no big deal. I could have told you the remaining members of Beta's mafia before the end of the first day. It should also be pointed out that the sides I was on won in their respective universes. The townies in Alpha and the Mafia in Beta. The Khushrenada effect perhaps?
But in all serious, I would say the two most deserving people are Dasmos and Shift Key. There are many moments you could point to as being turning points in the game but they were pretty much the leaders in each world. Of course, it may be that I am rating Shift Key higher because I felt the effect of his game more than anyone else, but he played pretty good. The biggest knock on Shift Key was that he was killed in both worlds and Dasmos lived to the end on Beta.
In the end, my vote goes to Dasmos. I think it was by far the best game I've seen him play and he was the godfather of two worlds. There's no reason to take the victory away from Dasmos today. Shift Key's a great player and will have his day of MVP.
I just wish Dasmos had told me who the mafia of Alpha was. Since I didn't and didn't want to lose my ability to flip to their mafia in the future by being hit, I figured it best to spill all the info I had like DaaMan64 most likely being the killer and my suspicion of Doctor Unclebob as well as claim to be mafia to make myself look guilty. Dasmos knew I could switch mafia's. I even told him of my role and it's ability but he didn't let me know then that he controlled both worlds. I would have changed my strategy completely if I had known. That's my biggest knock on Dasmos. But I think I can get over it.
VOTE DASMOS.

The biggest knock on Shift Key was that he was killed in both worlds and Dasmos lived to the end on Beta.

Shift Key played a great game...
I don't know who he got in contact with...or if those players believed who he was...but the Townies had a very strong chance to form an unbeatable alliance, and it just never materialized.
I don't think this was to the fault of anyone...this game I think beyond all others led people to doubt and distrust people more than any other game....partially that was my fault with designing a confusing game...but the other part is that with 2 worlds it was doubly more risky to reveal your roles.
Anyway, in the end...I think that hurt the townies the most...yet they were still able to win in one Earth...which is really good.
Shift Key deserves credit for that...
However, that win was also due to DAaaMan64.

Dasmos: If you can not receive a game, send a PM to DAaaMan64 and me and tell us who you would like to award it to.
Also, if you can receive it send DAaaMan64 a PM with your request for a prize.

I know my opinion means nothing in this matter, but I just want to say how stupid it is that DaaAMan can win MVP for letting the townies win when he wasn't even on the townie side. It's would be like if in '94 the USA gave Andres Escobar (http://youtube.com/watch?v=MUW8wFOytiY) the MVP.
Yes, he played a very good game, but he didn't do what he did for the townies' benefit. He was playing for his own well-being and it just so happened that the townies benefited as well.

Vudu: Too true. But the Killer Role is often a role that can never win the game...however, they often can effect the game in very radical ways.
Often the kills that the Killer partakes in lead one side to victory...but this is not always the case. Sometimes the killers don't kill anyone important, and they themselves are exposed and killed.
It is a role that can be played in many different ways. Side with the townies or mafia realizing you won't win, but you can help the team of your choice win. Or you can try for the ultimate win and go against the odds.
Anyway, killing the investigator, and 2 Mafia members were great hits.
As well, Dasmos whom would have been the MVP could not get a game...and was already winning the popular vote for best player...so I decided to choose someone else.
