Title: Business Oppertunity
Post by: animecyberrat on June 19, 2008, 04:52:51 PM
So I finally decided what I wanted to do with my life since things fell apart on me a couple of years ago. In 2005 my sister and I were so very close to opening our own store but then my parents decided to move to KS on us and lured us away with promises of a better life. Stuff like "the housing and food costs are so much cheaper" and "gas prices are lower" and "all our family is out there" and crap like that. Plus my other sister had just moved to Texas that same year so it was also closer to her.
So I move to Salina KS, hated every minute of it. Don't get me wrong I loved my job, made tons of friends, **** loads of money, started up my own record studio, was doing pretty damn good. Then it happened and life fell a part. I won't saw what happened thats not important, the point is I had to leave KS and return to NV.
Anyways so what was it three, fours years ago, when my sister and I had done all our savingup, researching, buying business licenses and **** like that we went through the SBDC who pointed us to the SBA and helped us get a lot of information on how to start up a business. In the mean time I completed a course of study in Business Management and worked as a Shift Manager for Pizza Hut and Papa John's Pizza. Not to mention ran my own , semi-profitable website and learned a great deal about running a business back when I had the record studio. Fast forward to now.
So I wrote a letter to Washington DC and got a response saying that with my past experience, current education and a bunch of other stuff they talked about, I might be able to get a secured loan from the SBA to start up my own Pizza restaurant. Now first things first, I know the risk involved is pretty high and I know that the community I am looking at, well theres 3 choices right now, all are pretty small but fast growing and very close to larger towns. Plus everything here is growing fast.
Anyways so my sisters both like the idea and tell me that their maybe interested in helping me out. So I am going to write up a business plan today, go down and talk to City Hall in 1 of the 3 towns I am looking at tomorrow and head on over to the SBA sometime next week. If things go as planned I will be opening my own Pizza place in the next six months or so. So cross your fingers, sya your prayers, whatever it is you do to help make this happen.
Also I will gladly accept donations by any person who believes in my dream and wants to help me out. So I wanted to share this because it's about time I do something besides hang out online all damn day long.
The first location I looked at is not only affordable, but sites right across the street from the middle school, which is prime location for a pizza joint.

Word of advice: DO NOT name your restaurant The Rat's Pizza.

Having a classic arcade game in the corner is a must.

that was the plan all a long. Actually the original business my sister and I were going to start was a part video arcade part comic book shop/used video game store. But I used all my inventory I had set aside for that to start up the website and sold most everything off now. My mom, who is a manager at the casino and knows a lot about running a restaurant, is going to help me get this started. She is also kinda tired of me not having much of a plan anymore. God I hope this works out though.

It's just an idea right now, the SBA said they will work with me but that is not a guarantee they will make it happen. Right now I have to find a good location then go from there.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr >:( Town number 2 already has almost the EXACT same type fo store I am wanting to open. My options are dwindling. There is still hope though, cuz they do pretty good business so my idea is not so far fetched.

What's your stance on white sauce?

Is that slang for ranch?

Shyguy is making a reference to Geoffrey Chaucer, (middle english poetry, correct?) who, in the course of his canterbury tales, writes about a cook who is famous for his white sauce... and has a wound oozing (white) pus. The implication is unsavory.

Garlic and chicken on a pie with alfredo sauce is delectable.

Well my sister won't be going in with me on this but she said she will help me with recipes. Also I might not do it after all, no surprise. My friend who helped me start up MGR, wants to get back into making music, since together we have all the equipment and he knows some people who can actually sing, I might get back into that. Either way something is going to happen damn it.

So I am in the process of writing up the proposal. Well two proposals. I will take the primary proposal, the pizzeria to the SBDC, and a few banks of choice, the first half of this week. Upon completing that task I shall have a fairly good idea of where I stand on the chances of making this happen.
Before I do anything, I am first going to have my mother read the proposal, since she is a big shot at the casino she should have a good idea what needs to be altered to it if anything. Aside from here, if anyone here has any background in business, owning/running a business or education, and might be interested in reading my proposal to offer their input, I will gladly take any suggestions I can get.
Next order of business is coming up with a name. Since I want something catchy that not only describes the business but also the atmosphere I desire to create, I must take this seriously. So I might need to do some brainstorming before I come up with anything. I will gladly take any suggestions offered up to me and put them into the running should any of you people have ideas worthy of this concept.
Please God let this work out for me. :Crosses Fingers:

Good luck rat, hope it works out. Just remember when you write up your proposal, it is "Opportunity" not "Oppertunity."

Word of advice: DO NOT name your restaurant The Rat's Pizza.
I don't think that's a bad name, actually. It's ridiculous but ridiculous is good. Ridiculous is memorable. The Wii wouldn't be doing as well as it is if it had a normal sounding name. Also, thanks to Ratatouille, people think of rats as lovable and associate them with food.

Funny, when I think of rats, I certainly don't think of food (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plague_(disease)).

Not around here especially. We don't even have a Chuck E Cheese.

You should make one then, just with better food and real arcade games instead of the crap most Chuck E. Cheeses have.

that is kinda sorta my plan but not really. See video arcades don't work at all around here. Never have in fact. I tried to get into one of their franchises once back when I still had lots of money, and the said no to our area.

Ok so this is on hold as of right now. I plan on working up north for the rest of the summer and see if I can get a feel for Couer D'Alene and decide if I wanna try something like this up there or do something else with my life. Man things got like so much better once I got my car back.
