Alright, I'm postponing Mafia and Sign-ups for two weeks, in an effort for helping more people have more time to play and all that.
Yep, it's that time again. Time for another game of mafia. Hosted by yours truly, this game of mafia is going to have a special theme: Food! Fast Food, restaurants, Iron Chef, the food network, Chef Ramsey, anything goes, as long as it's related to food. Want to be Ronald McDonald? Go ahead! Play as Martha Stewart? Sure. Yeah, it seems strange, but I'll do my best to make it fun.
The game begins at the beginning of EST Tuesday, as soon as I get the roles out.
There will be no new roles. Everything you see will have been seen before in most mafia games. This will be straight-up mafia. The difference in my rules? I'll summarize it for you:
In the event of a tie, all people who brought that tie to be will die. That means that if you voted for one of the two (or more) tied people, you die, unless there is explicitly something blocking your death. The tied players die as well.
Every single day, you must at least vote, or you must make three posts in the mafia thread. Yes, this is more than normal, but I'm also someone who hates the "stand by until they forget you're playing strategy." That's not strategy, IMO. DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOU CAN NOT PLAY! THIS GAME, THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE ON EACH SIDE, AND THE RULES ARE BALANCED BASED ON ALL PLAYERS PARTICIPATING. IF YOU PLAN TO SIGN UP AND FORGET ABOUT THE GAME, THEN JUST DON'T SIGN UP AT ALL!
The roles will absolutely be given out at random. If I believe that the I have created too many townie roles based on the size of my mafia, one player is going to be a "mafia sympathizer." Essentially, this player is allied with the mafia, has a role on the townie side, and will not know who the mafia is. This player will be chosen at random, as well, if this role exists.
Additionally, there's one final thing. I've promised a "no twist" mafia game, but I'd like to do something more fun for the townies: I'd like to give each player a secret task they must complete before the end of the game. Sure, that could be a twist, it may not be. It could be something as simple as "Live for four days," or you could get something more complicated, like "Don't be the target for any night actions for 3 nights." I don't want winning to contend on these tasks, but I would like there to be some sort of reward for most. If I can't come up with something decent as an in-game reward, then this certainly would not happen.
So, to sign up, you need to pick a character and vote "yes" or "no" on the secret task option. If you'd like, please suggest a small reward for completing the tasks, I've got a few ideas, but I'd like to see what others think. I'm not announcing the roles yet, but I assure you, there will be no surprises.

I also vote yes to the secret tasks, but I think they should just be for fun and have no affect on the outcome of the game.

So you're suggesting that I give player's "Secret Suggestions?" Things they could do for fun, but with no bonus if they do them, no penalty if they don't?

Only props at the end. Otherwise, balance issues come into play and through no fault of the player's, he'll get screwed and then cry foul.

Well, I'll say one thing I was thinking of: A free vote/free -vote. You could spend it once, and secretly add a vote or reduce a vote once, at a time of your choosing.

:^) Yeah, I am sure...because even though all I have to do is vote every day...I always get sucked in...or rather, I would want to.
I have been playing Mafia the same way for too long. Avoid conversations, and hopefully fall into an alliance. I want to start learning to play more proper...but that takes time. I don't want to feed my bad habits.

That's too bad. I am thinking about delaying the game a few days, though. I wanted a slightly better turn out than this. Would that help?

thatguy: I think the problem is finals. Next Week is finals for several people. It is for me. If the game started 2 weeks I would have no problem playing. Or even Wednesday or Thursday or next week.
But with finals coming up and final projects due it is becoming difficult to even think about giving Mafia the proper time needed.

Alright, I think I'll cancel this on, and wait a week to go one. My finals are just about finishing up, so I didn't think much about it. I'll start the game not next Monday, but the one after that, then?

Right, so if we start next Wednesday, you'll be in a good position to begin the game. That's perfect for you, since you won't be distracted for your final before then by a game starting tonight.

Cool cuz I was out of town for a couple of days and thought I missed it.
THATGUY: Since it's food related does that mean our characters or roles or whatever have to be food related, cuz I may have gotten confused on that part.

Yeah, I'll post a new sign-up, but yeah, that's the idea. Everyone plays as a food-related character.

I was going to have to cancel because of my move, but since that got canceled in stead I am now back in. Put me down for Dex from Attack of the Clones if he hasn't been called already.
