Title: Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword
Post by: bosshogx on March 27, 2008, 03:09:02 PM
I just picked it up today and am looking forward to putting some time into this weekend.  Anyone else planning on picking this up?

Me! It looks incredible - this is the sort of support the Wii and DS should be getting.

Well, it looks like a friend of mine is going to be playing it first, so my review will have to wait.  He's letting me borrow Professor Layton while I wait.  Brain puzzles vs. Ninja slashing action.  Either way, I win.  :D

Prepare for a lot of touchscreen swiping. I was playing it today and it's a pretty cool game if you like the genre.

I've finished this game already. It took me a little more than 6 hours to finish.  The game was fun, for the first couple of hours.  After a while, everything starts to get repetitive.

I was very disappointed with the fact that the only weapon in the game is the sword.  I know that the title is called Dragon Sword, but having at least one different weapon in the game would have helped take away the repetitiveness of everything.

After getting further into the game, I started getting the "been there, done that" feeling.  Most of the different worlds or "dimension" that you visit are variations of the different locales from the xbox game.  I'm not sure how I feel about that, aside from the fact that I don't really like it.  Seems like the devs didn't put that much thought into the game.

Another thing about the worlds is that once you finish it, you cannot go back.  Couple that with the fact that the stages are too short, Dragon Swords starts to feel like a collection of minigames.  The enemies are few, and it seems like fight the same enemies over and over again.

I have always like the original trilogy, and thoroughly enjoyed the xbox game.  Having said that, I bought this game with high hopes of it being good, and went away from it feeling very disappointed.

Overall, I'd give the game a 7/10.

I bought the game and have been impressed so far with the controls, they work so much better than PH and since the DS is held sideways the action doesn't get as blocked.

I heard from the 1-up show that Normal is ridiculously easy and the best way to play the game is hard mode which is sadly locked until you beat Normal.   They recommend you give it to your younger sibling and let them beat it first and then get it back so you can play it through hard mode.  Anyone agree with this?

Whose stupid idea was it to make hard difficulties require unlocking anyway?

I tried the demo from the DS downloads on the Nintendo channel. Fantastic graphics. Not sure about the game play though.

The demo was fun, but I don't know how long I would be able to keep that up.
