Peter Moore of EA Sports lets Wii owners know what's coming.

Peter Moore, president of Electronic Arts' EA Sports division, has revealed that EA currently has eight games in development for the Wii.

Speaking on his EA blog, Moore talked about the new properties his company is bringing to the Wii, such as the recently-announced Facebreaker boxing game.  EA is looking to capitalize on the expanded audience Nintendo has created and "expand" the EA Sports brand to accommodate them.

"I can tell you we now have EIGHT titles in development for the Wii," said Moore in his blog post.  "[It's a] testament both to the global impact of that console currently in the global marketplace, as well as to our desire to attract more consumers to experience EA SPORTS games, no matter their experience playing games nor their prowess with a traditional controller."

Moore did not make it clear whether those eight games in development all fall under the EA Sports label or if those games are in development across all four EA divisions (EA Games, Casual, Sports, and The Sims).

How could you not see that this is talking specifically about EA Sports?

"[It's a] testament both to the global impact of that console currently in the global marketplace, as well as to our desire to attract more consumers to experience EA SPORTS games, no matter their experience playing games nor their prowess with a traditional controller."

Assuming we get follow-ups to series we've already seen on the Wii (Madden, Tiger Woods, NBA Live, FIFA) and games that have already been announced (NCAA Football, FaceBreaker) that leaves 2 unknown games. I'm going to be stupid and get my hopes up and assume this means we're getting hockey.

I think NASCAR is the most likely, I'd be very surprised if that weren't one of them. After that you'd have an entry in the Street series. Then comes hockey. EA's NHL games are as good as they've ever been on the other consoles, I'd love to see what they could do on the Wii. I'd also love to see them somehow release one or more of the Genesis NHL games in some form on the VC or WiiWare.

If I see a hockey game I only be interested if you played as a single player through a career and where able to have the Wiimote mimick a hockey stick.  Plus maybe a little more arcadish.
