Correct, but this is because Miyamoto doesn't want characters to have voices in his game because then it wouldn't be how the player imagined Link's or Mario's vioce sounding.  It makes sense, but I don't know how I would want Link's or Mario's vioce sounding.  I think this is what keeps it a role playing game versus an Adventure game like Ratchet and Clank.

Link doesn't talk in Zelda anyways. I think it had more to do with ease of bringing the game across teritories. If they had to translate all of the text in Wind Waker and rerecord it plus do some sort of lip sync, we'd still be waiting for the game.

Link talks in The Wind Waker, but only one word: "COME ON!"

I would rather not anyone in those games speak their text.

Also, Mario Sunshine does indeed have full voice acting, except for things like villagers and such.  FMV sequences have voices, but regular gameplay has text because it would be annoying to listen to their jabbering all the time.  I was very dissapointed with Bowser's voice.  Wasn't how I imagined him at all.

Link doesn't talk, anyway.  He's a silent hero, like Crono or Serge.

I prefer them not talking.  And the voice acting in Mario Sunshine was one of the few disappointments.  Someone would be upset, no matter what, about the voice they gave them, even if the majority thought it was good, and it was good.  Like the WW graphics.

And Mario talks in Mario 64.  "Thank you so much for-a playing my game!"

Absolutely. But can you imagine him carrying on a dialogue with that cheeseball accent? "It'sa me, Mario! And I'ma gonna savea you, Princess, as soon as I keek da Bowser's assa!"

Keep it to a short phrase or two (ie "Itsa me!")and sound effects and all is good.

It would work if, perhaps, it weren't so exaggerated.  That's funny, though.
