Title: For a section called "Smash Boards and everybody on it"
Post by: ShyGuy on March 17, 2008, 11:42:30 PM
...we don't troll the smashboards nearly enough.

Here's a good place to start: Brawl meant to be a party game? An in depth analysis considering both POV's http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=152180

Another gem: Stages that are "banned" when you play Brawl http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=154255

LET'S START A FORUM WAR

This is a joke post, unless SUPER takes it seriously

Should I poop on them?

Any thread about how Brawl > Melee or Melee > Brawl should be trolled, no matter what. I know people have preferences, but some of these threads are downright ridiculous, and there are far too many of them...

When in doubt, troll everything

I like to troll Smash_Brother's posts over there, I created an account just for it. His threads and posts are almost worse than half the stuff over there anyway.

I love the topic about "banned" stages...  What's worse is that all of my favorite stages are on people's 'banned' lists... 75m, Mario Bros., Mushroomy Kingdom...

Guess I'll never play in a real tournament....

"1.) ZOMG THIS ISN'T MELEE 2.0: We realize it isn't melee 2.0. However it is smash 2.0. It's a sequel and sequels are meant to be expanding and to increase gameplay. Not to deteriate a complex game into a rolling scrubfest."

Umm... Wouldn't it be Smash 3.0?  Am I the only one who remembers a special little N64 gem?

Did the list look something like this:

Allowed Stages:
Final Destination

Ban'd Stages:
Anything that isn't Final Destination.

Ugh, don't get me started on the "banned" lists. Its one thing to ban a couple of stages, but nearly all of them? And now they are thinking of banning characters...CHARACTERS FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!

They find an exploitable trick and the character is banned. They are seriously thinking of banning Olimar and Dedede...

Its stupid. I'm with you, UB. I'll never play a tournament if crap like this goes on...

Might as well make everyone play as Mario.

I'm still absurdly happy that a post I made became a forum title.

On the subject of stage bannings:

Quote
Nothing's been banned as yet (though there's a few that are pretty safe to assume, looking at you Hyrule, Poky, Warioware)

So basically "BAWWWWWWW BIG LEVELS, BAWWWWWWWWW HAZARDS"

EDIT: Someone should make a post in the levels discussion, and give reasons why Final Destination, Battlefield, and all those other generally acceptable levels should be banned.

Someone should make a post in the levels discussion, and give reasons why Final Destination, Battlefield, and all those other generally acceptable levels should be banned.

That's easy.  Final Destination should be banned because it has no floating platforms, which creates a disadvantage for characters who are best at vertical fighting.  Battlefield should also be banned because it doesn't have anywhere without a floating platform over it, which creates a disadvantage for characters who are best at horizontal fighting.

I think the "banned stages" and "no items" rules are silly, but at the same time, they make sense for tournaments. If I were running a tournament, I'd use the same stage for all tournament matches. Probably a custom stage.

I disagree.  A tournament should be about who's the best at playing the game - which includes the possibility of every single level within the game and adapting to the items within the game, both using and avoiding them.  A tournament played "under certain conditions" doesn't tell you who's the best.

For example, for the official NWR tournament, let's play by the rules I set up.  All matches will take place on Rumble Falls.  Items on - but I'm the only one allowed to use them.  Oh, and the other players aren't allowed to use their control stick.  They can jump and attack though - as long as they don't use the control stick or pick up items.

I bet I would win the NWR tournament... but it wouldn't change the fact that I'm not very good at the game. :)

I don't want to play on Rumble Falls, I can't use Pikachu's Down-B/Lightning Strike move, and that makes me sad. :'(

It's the level I lost on in the WalMart tourney :'(

Well, you wouldn't be allowed to use the down-B move anyway, since you're not allowed to use the control stick.

Wait - The only Brawl stage that was played as part of the tournament was the Star Fox one... right?  What'd I miss?
