Title: Spectate?
Post by: kraken613 on March 09, 2008, 11:06:58 PM
How do you spectate a match? I can only figure out how to play one!

Click on the speculate button beside brawl.

It will prompt you to do the other stuff chose who you think will win and gamble coins.

You will have to wait for the timer to count down and it can take 30-60sec.

Spectator and Smash Service simply don't appear in the menus for some users, including me.  We're investigating.

As far as I know, spectate has always had some issues.  When I first got the game, I couldn't spectate, and then a few days later, I could.  I thought it was a problem, since my Wii is not NTSC J, but now spectate isn't on my roommate's Wii, also.

It could be that you have to unlock a certain number of characters, that it's on the second layer and the Wii doesn't read it right at first, that you have to beat or get a certain distance in SubSpace mode, but after a few days, it should appear.  It did for me, at least.

Along with it, the WiFi Options menu should appear after you log on.  If you can see that, you should have SubSpace mode.

FWIW, I had spectate mode from the very beginning.

Well, in that case, it should show up sooner or later.  Has your Wii gone through every update?

Edit:  NVM, the Wii I have it on doesn't have the latest update and it still worked.

I'd email Nintendo.  I think it's a problem with the Dual-Layer stuff.  Do all the cutscenes work on yours?

So it worked after a little bit of time?  I honestly think the game was released unfinished, and it picks up a little bit through Wii Connect 24.  Did you get a message sent to the Wii about the dojo?  I got that, and then it worked afterwards.  I thought it was funny that it took so long, but this could be why the game takes 128 blocks of memory.  That size of a file is ridiculous, IMO.

A quick way to fix this, apparently, is to delete your save file and make a new one.  No big deal if you just picked it up, but if you've done some things, I'd wait for it to just pop up some time.

I am very confident the wifi options menu has nothign to do with reading the disc.

I had an american review copy and this information did not show up until Sunday morning (after regular launch).  My guess is that those that don't have it should just connect and reconnect to the online service a few times so that whatever the server has to tell your game happens.

I played 2 missions of Subspace Emissary, beat Classic Mode once, and a few Vs CPU matches, then decided went to check out spectator mode with no problems. S

Are the matches live or are they recorded? Because I'm getting virutually lag free reception. I haven't tried playing with Anyone yet, but it seems too good to be true...

I'm almost certain they're recorded and you're downloading what happened while you're bidding coins and receiving bonuses.

You don't get the Wi-Fi options menu untill you can spectate, so that's a non-issue.

It's the same deal.  Just like spectate is gone, Wi-Fi options is gone.  They pop up at the same time.

The Lactate button's not showing up.  Nintendo can't fix their servers?

Just because pro passed up my post I will ask once more.   Where do you download the level of the day in Brawl?

Nintendo claims this is now fixed, but they don't say what was wrong.

It automatically downloads as the first level on your custom list (if you have the option turned on), but you have to log in each day to get it.  And it automatically overwrites the previous day's level.  Both of which suck.

Ok, I had WiFi options and spectator mode previously, but now they're gone. Sort of the reverse of what has happened to everyone here. I turned on the option for downloadable content and I still receive the levels, replays and whatnot even without the option to turn them on or off.

Has anyone encountered something similar?

All of the issues you're having is guaranteeing it's continued delay. I must insist you all stop playing.

It's not a bug or glitch. Nintendo can turn off/on spectator mode to prevent their servers form be rape by hoards of data under heave server load. ~Instruction Booklet p22,58 (Am I the only one who bother to read it?)
