Title: Alone in the Dark Wii

I didn't see a thread for this game, so I'm starting one. (if there is an old thread, please merge)

The highlights/notables of the games so far seem to be thus:
- realworld objects/physics based combat and puzzles - Set in a accurate rendition of New York's Central Park - Levels are skippable like DVD chapters - Inventory is handled by opening your jacket and looking down.
It looks intriguing and I hope the graphics aren't too downgraded for the Wii version. I heard there are some gameplay differences between the various platforms, but I don't know to what exent.

I honestly would be surprised if the game didn't get severly mangled, they'd be better off just creating a whole new game from the series rather than porting anything. I really don't want anymore Guitar Hero 3 incidents where the build I got was obviously hacked together just so it's on the system.

Does anybody else have the Nintendo Power issue. I want to put up some more photos but I am not sure if I can. The issue is number 225 Sonic Rpg on the cover.

IGN has the new trailer up for it and the game actually looks pretty good, maybe some framerate problems in places, but still it looks good.

Wow, the new Wii trailer is.... well, it's a trailer! If you poke fingers into both your eyes, then put on some glasses smeared with vaseline, it looks decent.
It's not that horrible, but the textures seem bad.

It sucked enough that Atari is angry over early reviews.
The made a casual adventure and forgot to test it for bugs and playability.

I have to admit that I canceled my pre-order for this due to not being in town to pick it up at the GS... and now I'm seriously tempted to not pick it up anyways. I could use the money...

Atari is trying to sue everyone by claiming that an early--leaked and pirated--version of the game was reviewed. Even if true, the situation still seems pretty pathetic.

the game doesn't have to look amazing, but the trailer on the nintendo channel looks especially terrible. If the game looks better than that, either put up a good looking trailer or don't bother with a trailer at all.
This speaks to a larger issue, all the games they show should have trailers, but the trailers should be marketing tools, not 1:07 of random images and moving pictures.

Kairon if you ever were in NJ I could show you where the Majesco office is. I actually met a really nice game tester that works there.

What a turd so far.
- When you die twelve times before the intro title, it's not a good sign. - The enviroments are actually well rendered. The character models are ugly as crap though - Jeez, they change the rules so often. Sometimes you can walk off an edge, sometimes you can't. Sometimes you can put out a fire, sometimes you can't. Sometimes you can grab a ledge, sometimes you can't.
- HOLY CRAP THIS GAME IS STUPID - Who designed the controls for this? I personally hope that Atari goes out of business and this person loses their job.
- Suprise, suprise, the driving sucks too. - I don't know how much more of this I can take. I think this is the worst game I have played on the Wii. Worse than Cooking Mama.

third parties really dunt understand wii development. makes sense if they didn't understand gamecub development the first time around.

Thankfully I didn't buy it, just rented it. Only $7 wasted.
I tried to play it again this morning
I am convinced that nobody play tested this game. So many controls are badly, BADLY broken that no gamer would sign off on this. - The inventory system works only 10% of the time. - Not only are the textures muddy, but then they blur out the screen for multiple reasons. You literally can't see enemies because the screen is a gray blotch. - I never did figure out how to heal myself, so I just randomly die in various places - The skip a chapter feature is nice, complete with a "Previously on Alone in the Dark" intro. too bad it's required to get past the absolute crap you have to deal with.
Part of me wishes I had bought this game so I could smash it with a hammer.

Atari's failure bump!
I just tried the demo on 360 to compare it to my horrible experience on the Wii.
- The camera is just as bad as the Wii version. On the plus side, it's not as dark so you can see a few more things. Not much though - The controls are still hideous. HIDEOUS.
