I found out earlier this morning but never posted since the Nintendo Category is typically the last one I visit on PGC; most of my time was spent typing up the other categories.
I'm not surprised at this since Stage6 was bleeding millions of dollars out its high-bandwidth arse.
I'm looking into other video hosting means, mainly streaming DivX junk off my own webspace. I just need 15GB of space for the entirety of my DivX game media archive.

3/4 of mine have been since I got the LAN adapter. (or smooth enough to not kill my game).
The bigger problem is getting random matches initiated AT ALL, cuz this onrine popularity brings GameSpy servers to their knees.

There's a disconnect error code # directly related to high traffic/inadequate servers. Either I wait MINUTES to engage a random match, or they kick me off NWFC within 30 seconds of seeking.
Brawl is already back to outselling MGS4 on amazon weekly charts. And if Nintendo/GameSpy hasn't done any upgrading (very likely, cuz they are the suck), the increased user traffic defintely doesn't help.
I've had more trouble getting random matches lately than I did back in April.

With a $400 capture card I imported from Japan that receives 720p/480p component video over Japanese D-Terminal connections. Even the capture sofware is in Japanese =O

Holy **** that's awesome. $400 is pretty expensive, but doing 720p as well is a huge plus. You got a pretty good deal, I suppose. It would probably be pretty cheap to buy/build a component-D terminal converter, since it's the same signal. I used to do video capture for a GameCube fan site I was part of, but nowadays I would just want to hook up a digital cable box (HD) at home and watch it at work over Orb.

Not even that video was 480p.
Only the people who worked on the House of the Dead: Overkill trailers had consistently good video quality, tho they did the weird thing by scaling 480p footage to 720p so they could mix them with 720p live footage, then i'd take everything and crunch them back down to 480p for uploading.

OK, after watching many awesome videos I decided to bookmark your site, Pro.
What I do wonder, though, is how do you get trailers in their original resolution, aspect ratio and frame rate? I never thought the "Samba de Amigo" trailers ran at 60 FPS.
I seek out press kits, promo DVDs, game demos, store display videos, stuff like that. I collect promo media, sometimes spending $$$, effectively making my site a museum. If I can't get a particular article, I'll request a rip/copy of the article's contents. The Samba trailers are 60fps because the videos from Sega's press site happen to be 720p/60fps. The Zelda 2005 trailer was DV NTSC-interlaced, so I spent a night to manually clean it up. Source quality varies. Soon I'll have captures of the N64 VHS promo tapes, and the TGS 2002 Resident Evil 4 Progenitor trailer (recent $130 eBay purchase).
In nearly all cases I end up cropping and resizing footage to fit my formatting specs. I want them to make sense to our eyes, make sense to display monitors, not waste space with black borders, and accurately represent the source within reasonable bandwidth tradeoffs.

OK, after watching many awesome videos I decided to bookmark your site, Pro.
What I do wonder, though, is how do you get trailers in their original resolution, aspect ratio and frame rate? I never thought the "Samba de Amigo" trailers ran at 60 FPS.
I seek out press kits, promo DVDs, game demos, store display videos, stuff like that. I collect promo media, sometimes spending $$$, effectively making my site a museum. If I can't get a particular article, I'll request a rip/copy of the article's contents. The Samba trailers are 60fps because the videos from Sega's press site happen to be 720p/60fps. The Zelda 2005 trailer was DV NTSC-interlaced, so I spent a night to manually clean it up. Source quality varies. Soon I'll have captures of the N64 VHS promo tapes, and the TGS 2002 Resident Evil 4 Progenitor trailer (recent $130 eBay purchase).
In nearly all cases I end up cropping and resizing footage to fit my formatting specs. I want them to make sense to our eyes, make sense to display monitors, not waste space with black borders, and accurately represent the source within reasonable bandwidth tradeoffs.
Fascinating. I never expected anyone to collect game footage, especially official press releases and such.

I may be the only one. All this junk isn't worth much to someone unless they have the means to convert everything from anything.
My host says the server will get some downtime starting this Tuesday and ending Friday. The hardware is being relocated due to an infrastructure-wide flaw.

It's a bandwidth-saving measure to prevent leeching, web search bots, as well as page masking/hijacking (i have run into this already). It also forces visitors to notice other videos that are available.

It plays fine. Try the direct link under the Web Player window, begin saving, and close that tab with the Web Player to see how fast the transfer is. Your ISP might be having problems this moment.

I tried it a work in Opera under XP Pro with an older version of Divx, no go.
I then tried it at home in Firefox 3.5.8 under Linux Mint with Gecko Media Player 0.9.8 still no go. Even if I downloaded it.
They used to work, what gives?
