Title: Soul Calibur 2 - More Link Action!
Post by: NewsBot on March 28, 2003, 10:30:13 AM
We've got even more movies of Link kickin' ass.  Now in MPEG and Windows Media 9 Format!  Hiiiiyaaahhhhhhhhhh!

We just got our shiny new import copy of Soul  Calibur 2 from our good friends at Video  Game Depot (order now!), and put Link to the test.  We've got the full  intro and Link playing in a bunch of different battles.  Warning:  If  you don't want to see the final boss in Arcade Mode, don't watch Movie #8.

We've decided to encode these videos 2 ways:  Windows Media 9, and MPEG.
Don't forget to right click and save this file to your computer.

*You will need Windows Media Player to view the Windows Media Files.

Thanks for the MPEGs, Billy!

I appreciate the extra work that you put in to support those of us that can't seem to make Windows Media Player work.

Yes, cheers guys. The Mpeg's actually run and look fantastic! The downside - bigger file size. Oh well, they're worth it.

Ok, I just won't give this one up, as no staff member has told me why they aren't using Divx, I have gone ahead and converted the first movie to a http://members.shaw.ca/rebirth2/sc1.avi.

I only have 10MB of webspace per account, and I have devoted this account entirely to serving this movie, but I had to cut a corner to do so.  The original movie for the conversion was the MPEG version of course, but the audio was too big.  As it stood, if I had kept the audio quality at the size it was, it would have taken 4MB, and I wasn't prepared to sacrifice THAT much video quality for a barely perceptible gain in audio.  I think the end result is fairly good considering that I don't have the original for the movie, and compression artificts exist for both the MPEG and Divx formats.  Nevertheless, I still think it's better than the WMV version, and if the audio was at full quality, it would be at about the same size.

Audio format:  128kBit/s, 44100 Hz Stereo.  2 channel MPEG Layer 3.
Video format:  380kBit/s, 352x240, 29.970fps, Divx 5.03.

Video was rendered at almost 60fps, total time being ~1:30 on an Athlon XP 1800+ at stock speeds.

Anyways, I hope I don't get into trouble for this, but I would appreciate staff comments.

Links don't work they way they should in Fuse Talk.  ARGG!

Anyways, since I can't edit my post, the link for it is here.

Yes, mad props for putting them up in MPEG format.  I'd like to see some more throws by Link though, I believe I've only seen one but I know that in the original each character had at least four throws.  Anyway, thanks for putting them up for all to see free of charge
