Title: We Love Golf and Camelot loves N. America/Europe by including ONLINE PLAY!!
Post by: Flames_of_chaos on February 08, 2008, 10:14:39 AM
Capcom is localizing We Love Golf and wants fans to pick 2 bonus US characters.

Choices are:

Cammy (Street Fighter), Morrigan (Darkstalkers), Rouge (Power Stone), Roll Caskett (Mega Man Legends), and Ashley Graham (Resident Evil).

Frank West (Dead Rising), Balrog (Street Fighter), Guy (Final Fight), Ken (Street Fighter), Dhalsim (Street Fighter), and Captain Commando
I chose Ashley "Ballistics" Graham and Ken the Ryu Clone.

Hm, both the characters I voted for (Morrigan and Captain Commando, I chose them because they seem to be the most interesting costumes) are in second place now.

Man, Capcom has a crapload of...crap characters...And why Ashley out of far-more-iconic RE characters? =|

I'm going to vote for Morrigan, and I have no real care for the male list... ;_;

(Looks like an even split between Roll and Morrigan, but Roll does look like she'd fit in the game better...)

I want to vote for Captain Rose for the female character, and Viewtiful Joe for the male. And replace Apollo with Phoenix Wright.

I wrote in and asked them to add Gene Starwind, Naota Nandaba, and Gendo Ikari.

Percent chance of awesome goes up 70% percent when you add those characters.

I picked Cammy, because she is super cool, but I would of rather had Sakura or whatever her name is.

Then I picked Dhalsim because how funny would it be to see the animations for him golfing...it could be a complete riot.

I picked Roll and Ken. I think they would fit in best IMO.

For the female character, I went with Morrigan because I love the Darkstalker games and frankly, she's the character I like the most out of all the characters in the list.

For the male character, I voted for Frank West. I know his game was on the 360, but I loved the guy. He made "Dead Rising" a very memorable game. He is also INSANELY strong for a middle aged photographer and is a great character to mess around with (you can either have him run around in his underwear or in women's clothes XD).

Plus, he looks like Ben Affleck with a big nose and a wide forehead.

I picked Morrigan, as she's the most iconic for me of the female characters there, and I picked Dhalsim of the male roster... as that would just be awesome. He doesn't get nearly as much credit these days as he should.

Arbok: She is more iconic than Cammy.

To me when you say 2D fighting game females the first three names that come to mind are: Chun Li, Cammy, Mae (From Fatal Fury)

Morrigan and...Captain Commando. Shizz, that game is FUN, if largely because of the baby-controlled robot machine.

I always liked picturing Mega Man to have his arm canon but then he also had a hand for that arm that disappeared in combat.

Do we know Megaman isn't in the game already? What Capcom costume does this kid (http://media.wii.ign.com/media/959/959941/img_5098025.html) have, if not Megaman? That's the only character whose alt. costume I haven't seen, so I assumed he'd be Megaman.

According to Nintendo Power's interview Camelot will include online play for the North American and European versions!!

NP: Is there any other new content for the North American version of the game?

Camelot: We are right in the middle of developing and debug testing for North American and European versions of We Love Golf! The major content newly added is the online gameplay, in addition to support for multiple languages in North America and Europe. Also, in addition to the new charactes, we tweaked the graphics a little in order to appeal to international players. Furthermore, we’re rethinking the swing speed as well.

NP: Among the modes, we think that the new online mode is the most fun! Now you can play with a friend in you neighborhood as well as anyone in the world. When you beat another player, their character’s face is added to your play sheet, so players will want to collect as many as possible

That can't be right, Capcom doesn't put any effort into the Wii and only churns out ports to pay for the real games on the real consoles.

How ironic that Tecmo's Super Swing Golf series has yet to receive online play, even though the series started out as an online computer game, while Capcom's We Love Golf, a game similar to SSG, has online play...

In all seriousness, that's really cool that Capcom and Camelot are putting effort into We Love Golf for the US. Even if I think we have more than enough golf games on the Wii it is a brand new IP, one that's being prepped up in the best way possible.

Oh and flames, insano is just suffering from Angsty Nintendo Fanboy Syndrome. Capcom is just one of the many companies that make the illness worse (Sega, Namco, Square, Konami among others).

Guys guys guys, the more we fight, the more like neoGAF we become!

Anyways, this is a shock. Didn't the game bomb in Japan? Has Capcom really given up so much on that market that they believe failure there is a prelude to success here?

Uh... This happens to be one of the games that ..sorta... puts me in the camp of "why couldn't they have made an RPG?"

If enough people get it, they may just have themselves a sale. Better than what EA decided to do the last two games.

Huh? You're not making sense as usual. The games floppage in Japan meant they needed to do something to make sure some people somewhere actually buy it, and give it more buzz. This fantastic golf game just got better, and NOW you don't want it?

This would be a bit of a bummer for Japanese people though, but only about 4 people there bought it so that version almost doesn't even count, and the only thing that would make people actually notice the game exists there would be to include Mario. Such a sad state the Wii market is in at the moment.

I'm not getting too excited though, the Aus version probably wont have the online mode like MoH Heroes.

Well at first they are giving us 2 more character costumes done by a fan poll and optimizing the game with online and somehow graphics. And plus Capcom can always re-release the game in Japan with the new features. S-E always got away with it by making the international versions FF and KH.

Why is this news overwhelmingly positive?

Did Wii just win the console war or something?

Oh, right, it did. Brawl came out.

While part of my post was sarcastic you have to agree that there are some fans who have issues with third parties, no matter the effort they put into their games.

The fact that it uses a meter instead of motion for swinging kills any interest I had in this.

I don't own any besides Wii Sports but I've read reviews for most of them and it doesn't seem like anyone's managed to get swinging as good as Wii Sports. Tiger Woods 09 is getting good previews, though, it's sounding really good.

I have the game and it's worth 50 because there are a lot of modes and a lot of replay value at 30 it's a steal. The online mode is good. I got it for 25 because of a Amazon.com giftcard for 25 dollars. The Wii remote controls in this game are very good. It's not a 1:1 golf game since it uses the Mario Golf way except the meter is judged by the wii remote so really the back swing is taken to account the most and then you swing forward when appropriate.
