Title: Radio Free Nintendo: Episode 83
Post by: Jonnyboy117 on January 23, 2008, 06:39:17 PM
The new team settles in for another big episode with tons of game discussion and a brand new old character.

James, Greg, Jon, and Jonny are back for another extended New Business covering many games and several tangents.  We also dipped into the listener mail for some thought-provoking questions; please keep those coming!  There's even a bit of news discussion in which we manage to avoid ranting on NPD numbers for too long.

With this episode, we're also proud to introduce a new old character, who will hopefully be returning often with updates on his kooky gaming exploits.  There's a whole new old generation of gamers playing the Wii, and Grandpappy Gamer is here to bridge the age gap and bring a new old era of peace among our tribes.  Or something.

This podcast was edited by James Jones.

"Grandpappy Gamer" skit was written by Jonathan Metts and performed by Jon Lindemann.

Music for this episode of Radio Free Nintendo is used with permission from Jason Ricci & New Blood. You can purchase their new album, Rocket Number 9, directly from the record label, or download it from iTunes, or call your local record store and ask for it!

I didn't mention on the show, but Jason Ricci's new album was finally put on iTunes, so that is now the cheapest way to buy it.  Ten bucks for the whole thing, or a dollar per song.  I added a direct link to it in the credits of the article.

Even tho I edited I didn't listen attentively to the final product.  PM me if you think I should change something in future podcasts or if there is something horribly wrong in this one.

6 hours man, I can't stand to hear it no mo.

I think Kairon should be a guest on a podcast!

You beat last week's record for longest RFN ever!  Was there seriously 6 hours of unedited audio, or is that just how long you spent editing it?

LEAVE LUCK TO HEAVEN  I can't believe not one of you knows that.

Also, the Lume that you feed stars bits to in order to move comets does just that--he moves them.  He doesn't create them, so if you don't already have a comet in one of the galaxies, nothing will happen after you feed him star bits.  Comets only appear after you beat a level--I think they appear randomly at the beginning of the game, but once you beat it the first time they start to appear every time you beat a level if there's not already one present somewhere.  It's somewhat annoying if you played like me and collected every single star (except for the purple coin ones) before you beat the game the first time.  I found the best thing to do was to beat a really short stage (like Flipswitch Galaxy in The Terrace) in order to get a new Comet to appear.

You guys seem to have a lot of disdain for the members of your forum.  My feelings are hurt.

The podcast wasn't six hours long!  That's just how much time it took James to edit it.  I think you can expect our four-person shows to last from 60 to 90 minutes.

We have no disdain for the forums, it just happens that the thread James picked out was kinda stupid.  Don't worry, we'll be looking for all sorts of threads and will give due credit when someone makes a good post.

I wanted to pick a thread that I thought would be amusing to talk about.  The fact is there wasn't much in the way of new threads unrelated to news last week.  At least, not so far as could be discussed.  I love these forums, hence why I've been here as long as I have.  That thread was just funny.

Crimm - The "Final Fantasy stylized, practically Pikmin game that's supposed to be coming out relatively soon on Wii Ware" doesn't exist.  You're combining two other games--Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Young King and the Promised Land, which is by Square Enix and coming out for Wii Ware, and King Story, which is developed by Cing (the makers of  Trace Memory/Another Code and Hotel Dusk) and coming out via the traditional disc-based method.

If you guys want a game with a varied difficulty mode you should play Crysis which changes quite a bit depending on what difficulty you are on. (BTW still haven't beat MP3)

Well at least I can state that I didn't really get involved in the Halo killer thread, my comment wasn't even related to it, but for NOAs stupid delay.

1080 was and still is an excellent game.  Who is that guy bashing it?  He seems to not like Nintendo games at all much... he doesn't have anything good to say about any game!

When you try to put a negative spin on December U.S. Wii sales (comparatively disappointing compared to DS sales?  Come on, man!), something is just not right!
