Playing as your Mii in M&S: Olympics was actually pretty damn neat, and the same experience in SSBB would just be awesome.
I expect a Mii character with a uniform size/weight and moves based around Wii Sports.

And yeah, the Mii has a big chance of being in the game.
1. Miyamoto ADORES the Miis. In his GDC keynote he said that he spent YEARS working on a caricature program so that players could insert themselves into the games. So, when a team came up with the the Mii idea he EMBRACED it with open arms.
2. The Miis are extremely popular right now. They are pretty much an icon for Wii gaming. Not only that, the Miis are the stars of 3 of the biggest Wii titles; Wii Sports, Wii Play and Wii Fit. They also have a channel dedicated to them.
Since Brawl is a celebration of everything Nintendo it would be silly of them to just make them save file icons.
So yeah, Miis have a good chance of being playable.
Bill: I admit I may have counted wrong when I posted my prediction. When I checked the site I didn't count ZS Samus and Sheik since they are part of a main character, so maybe that messed up my count.
Luigi: I admit that I see Ouendan being ATs, but can't a guy dream? :p

Ouendan has two votes on Sakurai's poll, same as Lucas and only one fewer than Olimar.
I admit I expect them to be an AT, but I'm not ruling them out as playable since they ARE on the poll with multiple mentions.

The problem with that is...
1. Sakurai wanted Lucas to appear in SSB since the 64 game. Even if Lucas got 0 votes he still would've been in the game because he represents the latest Mother game and because Sakurai wanted him since day one.
2. Olimar comes from Pikmin, Miyamoto's baby and one of Nintendo's popular IPs. Once again, even if people gave a crap about him he would've ended in the game.
It all depends on Sakurai and what he thinks of Ouendan.

Now that DK has his sidekick Diddy Kong its only natural that they gave him his nemesis.
Like its been mentioned K.Rool has many moves Sakurai can use. Hell, they even have boxing K. Rool from DK 64!
EDIT: One thing I find interesting about DK and K.Rool is that their hatred and rivalry is a metaphor towards the theory of evolution and the existence of mammals and reptiles.
The kong family consists of gorillas, apes and monkeys. They are mammals and supposedly played a big part in human's evolution. They have also shown signs of intelligence and human like behavior.
The kremlin clan consists of crocodiles and lizards. They are cold blooded and many of them became extinct when the Dinosaurs died out.
Its like their hatred is fueled by the order of nature! XD

Starfox is racist! Aside from being in my top 3 games of all time I noticed Falco is racist. Thats right, I said it! Remember that Asteroid level, the second stage in 64? get to the boss and you beat him half way, the ape inside goes "...im no match for you" and Falco goes "You gonna listen to that monkey!?" He said it in a horrible context!
Also once you reach Venom, they all fly down to the planet.... hmmm either that or Area 6(is that what its called?) You here falco go, "time to show the monkeys whos boss" To me thats being racist, and teaches an aweful lesson to kids. Not to me though im a smart kid, and became really open minded when everyone went nuts over Wind Waker.
Anyway im glad a few of you believe Ridley will be in the final roster. Now that Olimar has grown(I know Kirby has to, but most people arent really aware or care about how small he is) And Bowser has gotten alot bigger as well, I don't see how Ridley would unthinkable because of his size. All I need is him and Sonic. And my dream characters are done!
And come on Tookisuit, Wind Waker Link would be so much more awesome than just typical young Link. The moveset alone would be killer. He will look just as drasticly different like Mr Game & Watch, and thats cool, all kinds of veriety. The same as using a super detailed realistic looking character like Snake or Shiek on a stage like classic Mario Bros. Let the worlds mesh together!
I can't really make up a final roster, mainly cause I know something like Game & Watch will pop up and I will be absolutely clueless as to where he came from.
But I am betting on Ridley, and Dixie as secret characters.

He might be the biggest wild card in the entire roster, as in Sakurai is sane enough to leave him out of the game or insane enough to make him the most powerful floating head in the universe.
The reason is because he is listed on both Sakurai's list and on the most requested characters list. People must want him because he has 2 votes on that list. Not only that, the Brain age theme song plays on the Pictochat stage.
Its more than likely that he will NOT be in the game in any form, but considering the game lacks that WTF character like Game and Watch was in Melee don't be surprised if either Kawashima or Sukapon end up being a character in the game.

Oh, but of course, there is the Dojo icon issue to go back to...According to the Dojo, unless they mistakenly passed over a number, there is still another franchise to be revealed...The characters above all fit into known Brawl franchises, so what's left?
Isaac - Golden Sun? Sakurai mentioned the series on multiple occasions, and I believe Isaac's Psynergy could provide a unique move set...
Lip - Panel de Pon? Lip's Stick returning as an item appears to dampen her chances, but there is the Screw Attack item, after-all...
Takamaru - Nazo no Murasame? The one thing that hurts his chances is that he's not only from a unknown franchise, but he's fairly generic as a character as well...Hmmm...
Ray MKII - Custom Robo? I recall being surprised that he was not in Melee, with him being a unique character (a robot!) and having an excellent working move set...
Sukapon - Joy Mech Fight? Another unknown franchise, Sukapon has the benefit of actually being a unique character and being from a fighting game himself...
???Other??? - There is always also the possibility of something completely random! =)

Isaac - Golden Sun? Sakurai mentioned the series on multiple occasions, and I believe Isaac's Psynergy could provide a unique move set...
Lip - Panel de Pon? Lip's Stick returning as an item appears to dampen her chances, but there is the Screw Attack item, after-all...
Takamaru - Nazo no Murasame? The one thing that hurts his chances is that he's not only from a unknown franchise, but he's fairly generic as a character as well...Hmmm...
Ray MKII - Custom Robo? I recall being surprised that he was not in Melee, with him being a unique character (a robot!) and having an excellent working move set...
???Other??? - There is always also the possibility of something completely random! =)

Actually I could see mystery icon 19 being for Geno. Similar to how Donkey Kong, Yoshi, and Wario all have there own icons to separate themselves from the Mario series, the same could happen to Geno as well. Geno and his icon could be used to represent all the different Mario RPG series. This way his stage would contain music from all the different Mario RPG games and Assist Trophy's of characters from the Mario RPG games would have Geno's icon instead of Mario's.
And if it isn't for Geno, then I'd say it'd be for Isaac. The fact that Isaac's game was released all around the world automatically gives him an advantage over Japan only characters like Lip and Takamura. Then there's the fact that both Golden Sun games did really well in sales worldwide as well, the first one which Isaac was the star of sold over 1.5 million copies. This fact then gives him an advantage over characters like Ray MKII who's games didn't sell very well.

Either way, I really really want Isaac, Ray 01, and Krystal to make it into the game. All three of these guys would have extremely fun movesets, and would be a total blast to play as.

I played all of them and she never stood out as anything special...to be honest, she she just felt like an irritating character that Rare pulled out of their asses. She just never seemed to fit in.

She stands out more as a character than Falco or Wolf do and using the staff is better than another character with a blaster. And movesets don't have to correspond completely with in-game moves (see Fox, Captain Falcon).

Here is the big reason, IMO. The game needs more characters of the opposite sex, as so far the only "new" female character in the game is Samus sans Power Suit.
I'd love to see one of the female COs (like Sami), but at this point I don't see it happening sadly. However, I do hope there is at least one more female character in the game, beyond Krystal, that we aren't aware of.

I should also note that MarkMan has recently said that Fox, Falco and Wolf are all playable, and that he knows one of the people that is saying this list. So as of right now, this seems to be the most likely final character roaster.
Well if this the final list, then it's not that bad. No Ridley and Geno makes me sad, but Wolf and Wind Waker Link are nice. Of course I don't get why Sakurai would include 3 Star Fox characters when there's other series in the game that are much more popular. I guess Sakurai most really love Star Fox 64 then which if that's the case it's OK with me. Star Fox 64 truly was an amazing game.

I guessed 35 because its an even number plus one that makes sense, so I find it surprising that while their characters change a lot the final number stay the same.
Not to jump into conclusions but I have the feeling some of these people are leaving characters out on purpose just so they can make people upset and troll.
I mean, they change the Starfox characters more than their panties!

I've heard rumor that David Hayter asked Sakurai to add Alex Roivas to the playable roster, but even if that isn't a rumor, there's no guarantee he'd do it.
She'd make for a fantastic WTF character as I haven't seen her on nearly any of the prophet lists.

Now that would be a brilliant choice. Alex is a pretty normal character... but through using various sanity effects she could be extremely unique and fun to play. I would love it if her Final Smash was something completely random (shifting effects) that really messed with everyone.
However, I doubt it will happen, given the game in question (which I don't think made any impact at all in Japan), but that sure is one of the more ingenious characters I have heard pitched.

With the original hidden 4 being hidden again, we have 25.
With Sonic and Snake, we have 27.
Finally, with Lucario being confirmed we have a total of 28 known characters.
If the final number is going to be 35, that means we have 7 characters left to discover.
EDIT: The starting roster number has also doubled. Melee had 14 starters, Brawl will have 21.
Will they go for broke or keep it at a modest number?

Before anyone says anything, yes I know SSB has cute characters beating each other senseless, but these are fictional characters that hail from games where battle is common places.
The Miis, however, were made just so you could insert yourself into fun activities like sports, fitness and music.
Also, Nintendo DID remove the GB camera feature from Perfect Dark because they feared that people might accuse them of promoting violence.
So add those things and it makes the Mii an unlikely character.

Well this is also a Nintendo that allowed and even pursued Rockstar to release a game like Manhunt 2 on their system. The Nintendo from the N64 era is not the same as the one now.You may have a point about the Mii being used for sports/fitness though.
