But it wasn't the shell that failed, it was the kid that failed.
and what an expensive failure that was.

If that's the set I think it is I know that the boxes advertise good grip.  Clearly...not so good.

I think this is a case of user incompetence, not the peripheral's fault.

agreed, the wiimote never came out of the shell or anything.  He just lost his grip, and could have been avoided if he had worn the strap.  On the plus side at least it was just the glass doors on the entertainment system instead of the bat going threw the TV

At the end it did launch out of the peripheral but that was after impact. And yeah if it hit and cracked the CRT TV there would be smoke coming out of the TV.
