Title: My powerbook is emitting this awful burnt plastic smell

Also, the screen keeps flickering out.

I should probably start thinking about getting a new computer.

How old is it?

If you bought it less than a year ago, it's still under warranty and they have to fix it at any Apple store.

Maybe it has a Sony battery in it. You should probably check before it burst into flames while sitting in your lap.

Yeah the powerbooks did get Sony batteries for a while.
