Title: Wiimote Charge Station Help!
Post by: Kadath062 on November 09, 2007, 12:54:10 PM
Hello everyone. I'm in need of some advice regarding Wiimote charge stations. There are two that interest me, but there are good points and bad points to both of them. If possible, could I get some advice or help from those who know a lot about these stations?

The first one is the Nyko charge station. it holds two Wiimotes and it's supposed to be really good and I've seen it in stores. However, I don't like how there's no room to store the Nunchuck attachments and I don't know if I like the gray rubber grips for the battery replacements.

Here's a link: Nyko Charge Station

The second is a charge station from Inspire. I like how it has room for a Nunchuck attachment and I like how it has the standard smooth white grips for the battery replacements. However, it only holds one Wiimote and Nunchuck (that's okay, I could buy two, but I wonder if there's enough plug slots for it?), it's gotten bad ratings, and I've never seen it in stores.

Here's a link: Inspire Charge Station

So could somebody help me out? Anyone had much experience with these? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have the Nyko Charge Station, and it's nice, also the rubber grips are awesome, but having to disconnect the nunchuck sucks. I recently saw a new rechargeable kit at Target - it's made by Psyclone. It's a rechargeable battery kit that charges via USB, which is awesome, because you can leave the Nunchuck plugged in, or even the GH3 guitar, if you use a USB extension. They're $10 each for the battery and the cable, I might get a couple, just for the convenience. The only downside is they are very, very light, either that or someone stole the batteries out of the pack (it was kind of open). It may even just run on regular-ass rechargeable AAs, and charge via USB (AA is 1.5v, USB is 3.3-5v, IIRC).

I can't not recommend Nyko products enough.

I got a Big Ben charger station, the plastic cover for the Wiimote is mismatching (rough surface, looks different material wise). Can't say much about the actual quality of the battery or the station, I haven't had it long enough to make my Wiimote run empty since then.

Kadath, have you considered the Penguin United Wiimote Charger Docks and Rechargeable Battery Packs? For just 27 dollars, you can get everything you need for FOUR wiimotes! Plus, they come Highly recommended by one of our forum members, Mashiro. So not only are they quality, but they're cheap! (I think there might even be a coupon code to use if you're buying from them for the first time ever, so you could save even more!)

Only catch is that they charge through USB port, but that's easy to find on the back of your Wii, or on a computer. Oh and it looks like there's only enough space to stand 2 wiimotes at a time though...

Are there any chargers that aren't necessarily stands?  I've been looking everywhere for them and I just want a battery pack charger rather than something that'll hold in place my Wii-Remote.

I don't consider charging via USB anything but a benefit. It eliminates the need to use an A/C outlet, and provides more than enough power for the job.
