Title: Unreal Tournament 3 Demo
Post by: KnowsNothing on October 14, 2007, 04:19:57 PM
Pirate Bay torrent (I prefer torrents to just about anything, don't worry this one's legal)
I don't know why I spoiler tag'd that
No topic on this? For shame! SHAME I SAY.
So yeah, Unreal Tournament 3 demo is out. I had a moderate amount of fun with the 2004 demo (lawlz no need to buy the game amirite), but I'm not sure I like this one as much. Maybe it's just that my taste in games has changed in the last few years...a huge frag fest seems almost...pointless to me. I guess I like to take things slowly and think things out in my shooters, which is the exact opposite of this game. I feel so incapable when I say it's just too freaking fast for me. I get more kills based on luck than skill, which just isn't fun. Granted I've only been playing for a day, but I think the demo has actually deterred me from buying the game.
I guess the main problem is that I just plain suck at these types of games
Anyway, DISCUSS or something. I don't know.

I refuse to discuss unless you post more.

Hey KnowsNothing, haven't seen you around much lately.
I tried it out. It seems very similar to UT 2003. I like the walker crawler vehicle though.
I think your right though, the pure frag fest has really been outmoded in the modern FPS. UT3 Deathmatch seems as mindless at Space Invaders.

Can't install it, I'm getting "Error -112: Out of disk space". Already tried everything that was suggested for dealing with that.

I was going to post about an installer bug on their forums but the stupid forum didn't send me an activation mail.

ah yes, but i'm pretty sure my hiatus didn't involve continuing to post, which kinda goes against the whole "hiatus" idea
but that's ancient history stuff, makes me feel so old that i forget that sort of thing

I wanted to go back and play some UT (original) a month or so ago and needed the latest patch, but for some reason every freaking link would take me to the UT3 info page.
Even though I loved UT that royally pissed me off.

Unreal Tournament 2000 was so awesome back in the day, and even Unreal Championship on the XBox. I wish every FPS game had the Unreal Tournament voice over guy.

Touche.
I've been playing some more. Whee! Vehicle capture the flag is grand fun, definitely better than regular old death match. I seem to remember something about 'nodes' or some nonsense in 2004 being pretty fun too, so I'll have to wait and see. Still on the fence about buying it.

2004 had Onslaught which was their take on the Battlefield gameplay.
