Title: Just Podcasted with Billy
Post by: Karl Castaneda #2 on October 12, 2007, 04:08:28 PM
A couple of you guys know I do a podcast over at Game Informer. Recently I got our old buddy Billy on the show, so if you guys feel like listening to a multi-plat show (with a fair amount of Nintendo stuff, to be honest), then feel free to give it a listen.

Sounds good, I'll definitely check it out. Is there a way I can subscribe to it through iTunes? That would be awesome.

Jeez, how many podcasts do you do?  What's your major--journalism?

Its always good to hear what the O.G Billy has to say.

I have to say that a two person podcast feels a little empty for me. Maybe because I'm used to NWR's 3-4 person format, and I that's only podcast I listen to, where the banter goes back and forth with little dead space. Were all the other GI-staffers busy?

I like that the news was more recent. Its one of the knocks I have against RFN, since I listen to it on weekends, when most of the speculation about various news bits have been confirmed or denied. But with this, its on the level.

It is with great irony that Gabe Newell has a lot of disdain for the PS3, but doesn't mind taking their money when Orange Box hits that system, yet his Wii preference doesn't yield any software. Well, there's always Wii Ware.

I wasn't a hardcore Thundercats back in the day, but I definately enjoyed it. I haven't seen it in years, but I'm betting it hasn't aged well. CG seems to be a right fit, I shudder to think about a live action format.

I think you're mistaken about Tobey Maguire in Battle Tech. Don't you mean Robo Tech? I'm sure some people will have their memories of that series...

I'm also one of the few who didn't get into Excite Truck when the demos were making their rounds at GS/EB. I was more excited about playing the Wii so I just went in gung-ho. I wasn't 'excited' about the game itself, but I understood the concept of the Wii was all about.  With Mario Kart, I can imagine better racing mechanics overall. But what's with the hate for the Wii wheel? What has this hunk of plastic done to you?

Good podcast overall, Karl actually gets treated with respect . Is the podcast available on GI's site?

Last week we had two staffers (Joe Juba and Nick Ahrens), but this week it was all about t3h Billeh. Next week's show will probably go back to three people. And I should have an RSS feed set up by then if you want to subscribe.

The news was super-recent, yeah, mostly because it was recorded on Thursday and got put up Friday night. I can edit with a quickness when need be.

Yeah, like Jonny, I wish Orange Box was available in some form on Wii. It's a bummer.

I guess I just don't believe in Thundercats as a brand. It was always kinda low-tier.

You're right. It is Robo Tech. My mistake.

I just think the Wii Wheel is kind of stupid. I'm not hating on Nintendo, since they're not raising the price at all, so I guess it's better to have it than not at all. I just don't see it as an immersion tool.

And yeah, I FINALLY get some respect.

I finally listened to this. It was odd, no mention of 'Noles OR Killer 7 in whole thing! And you had a perfect opportunity with talk about the Capcom 5.

Well, GI Radio is sort of a different beast than RFN. I think it's got its own strengths, though.

I don't know. I'm still undecided. I will need to know his policy on health care and Smash Bros clones before I make my decision.
