Title: Amazing Customer Service (from someone besides Nintendo!)
Post by: UncleBob on September 28, 2007, 02:25:52 PM
What can I say but "Wow!"
One month ago, I sent an e-mail to some random address I found on the FOX Music website. I had purchased the limited edition of the Simpsons Movie Soundtrack. It's an awesome CD in it's own right, with the musical score and all - but the limited edition came in a spiffy cardboard box with a fake plastic donut (with pink frosting and sprinkles, of course) and a fake donut smell.
I looked around at several different stored before finally managing to find the limited edition. It was awesome - but was missing something - Homer singing "Spider Pig"! While I loved the score from the movie, not having Homer sing the Spider Pig theme just seemed wrong.
So anywhoo, I had written in an e-mail - and today I got a reply with the usual "Thank you" blah, blah, blah... But attached... was an MP3 of HOMER SINGING THE SPIDER PIG THEME! And it's awesome! I haven't the slightest clue where it's actually from, as it's not the version in the movie... this one has background music and a chorus that really helps ham (heh) it up.
Seriously, this is awesome! Oh, did I mention the e-mail was from the VP of Music Publishing at FOX Music? That's pretty cool.
Anywhoo... just had to share...

Hmmm... On one hand, I've always been strongly against stealing the Intellectual Property of others.
On the other hand, this can't be bought or anything.
I needed to write an e-mail back (I wanted to ask where this track is *from*...). Perhaps I'll ask about giving it to a few friends...

At the very least put up a small sample clip of it please . . . this sounds too awesome to not share with the world.
And as you said if you can't purchase it . . . what's the harm in sharing it? =D "Share and Share Alike"!

It was going to be released on the soundtrack originally, but they decide to cut it, since it wasn't quite like that in the film. They're considering using it on the DVD and Blu-ray releases, in one of the menus.

No... that's the one that's included on the album.
The version I was sent is actually Homer singing the song...

What, I can't secretly be a Fox Music VP?

You'd have to change your name. It's incorrect.

Right, I'm secretly the VP, not overtly. Just for you, UB, my real name is Greg Curtis.

My point is, the VP of Music Publishing for FOX is a woman. Thus, your name would have to be "thatgirl".

Too bad. It was a good try, though. Greg Curtis does something there, and was quoted in an article about when their website went live, so I figured it was worth a shot.
