Title: What is ThePerm?
Post by: ThePerm on September 19, 2007, 09:36:22 PM
Ask ThePerm
Alot of comment has been placed on my ability to make great posts. Which I must admit myself has been lately lacking. This has two causes:
1) I am not as up-to-date with my game news as I was in circa 1999-2003
2) I havn't had a working computer in 8 months.

To compensate I have been watching a crapload of movies. So if you want anything insightful from me it is going to have to be on the subjects of:

80s Pop culture
60s B movies
The stopmotion work of Ray Harryhausen & Aardman productions 70s and 80s horror movies
Quenton Tarintino and Robert Rodriguez movies
Greek Mythos and Movies
Anime
Philosophy
Art and Art History
Ancient Civilizations
George Romero movies that are not Zombie movies
Eli Roths movies
Stanley Kubrik movies
Early Nintendo history
Metal Gear Solid 1-4
Resident Evil series
and of course Zelda

What do you think of the song "The Final Countdown" by Europe?

Why did Ouranos prevent his children from getting born? (the same reason Kronos swallowed his children)

Which movies similar to "A Clockwork Orange" would you recommend?

Is Pulp Fiction better than Reservoir Dogs?

Why isn't Capcom bringing Resident Evil 5 to Wii?

Why on earth do you play Metal Gear games?

What is is?

Do you like the phrase "Post hoc ergo propter hoc"?

Why is Mario called Mario?

Isn't "Raft of the Medusa" beautiful?

2D Mario > 3D Mario > 2D Zelda = 3D Zelda (this isn't a question)

yeah seriously, those were my exact thoughts.

questions for theperm:

1. what are some of your favorite bands from the 80s so, in case i dont have them in my collection already, i can add them to mine.

2. have you ever read george a. romeros original script for the Resident Evil movie? and , if so, What did you think of it? Was it as bad as capcom/sony pictures claimed it to be, should he of been fired?

ill start with the easiest question since im Wii typing. I have read George Romero's Resident evil script and it's pretty good in my opinion, it follows the games alot better than the actual movies do. Despite the movies not following the games, I'm looking forward to the upcoming movie. It has a post Apocalypse feel.

What do you think of Marvel Zombies?
Title: RE:Theperms post usefulness
Post by: EasyCure on September 20, 2007, 06:52:40 AM
thats what i thought when i first read it, which was only pretty recently. i never knew he'd written a script for it and was pissed to find out he was canned because they thought it wasnt good..how? it followed the game pretty closely except for a few details, it was funny, had plenty of suspensful moments and a fiar share or action. much better than what came to be the actualy RE movie.

i never bothered with the second, nor will i for the third becuase the first was so bad

Did you think 2001: A Space Odyssey was terrible, brilliant, or somewhere in between?

I watched about half of A Clockwork Orange, then stopped. Convince me to watch the whole thing.

What do I think of Marvel Zombies? I havn't gotten around to reading it. I read Kirkmans other Series The Walking Dead, on the other hand I have had plenty of chance to read Marvel zombies, my friend has the whole series, it just finished. I'm just apprehensive about intelligent zombies as they are in Marvel Zombies. On the other hand the creator is one of my favorite graphic novelists.

bands from the 80s
Soft Cell, Tears for Fears, White Snake, Poison...there are so many of them to name.  like New Wave and I like Glam and Hair  Rock, i like 80s music because all the use of electronic instruments. Lately I like a new band called Black Audio, their song Stiff Kittens sounds like an old 80s song.

Pulp Fiction is great, but man Reservoir Dogs is intense. I think i'v seen Pulp fiction like 20 times, but Reservoir Dogs only like 3. They're my favorite Tarantino movies. If they were played together it would almost be like they were one movie. In other news im pissedo f f that they're releasing the Grindhouse features separately. It5 makes no sense, because neither movie is that great unless paired together.

On Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 5 will probably not appear on the Wii, thats not to say Capcom won't be putting games on the worlds #1 sold system. Wii.

Similar to Clockwork Orange, its hard to say. It has alot going for it, 3 act movie, with a moral overarch. Last night I just watch Citizen Kane and that was pretty kickass. No violent rape scene though. for violent Rape scenes watch Las house on the Left, or The house at the edge of the Park. Just kidding don't watch them for that, watch them for their content and social commentary.

On Metal Gear, My brother won a playstation at graduation night in 1999, since then my friend let me borrow his scratched copy of Metal Gear Solid. I didnt like the game at first, but once i realized the point wasn't to go and kill everything it became a favorite, unfortunately disk 2 was scratched so i never got to finish it. A couple years later Twin Snakes came out and I got to finish it. Unfoprtunately my GCN copy of MGS is either missing or stolen. Which pisses me off to no end. As for other Metal Gear Games, I had a different roommate a couple of years ago who was obsessed with everything Konami, he even collected easter Island heads because of his Gradius obsession. He had MGS2 and when MGS 3 game out we got that. I have a friend with a Playstation 3, and you can be that when MGS4 comeso ut I will be over at his house every day.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc, hmm I seem to recall our professor for english 101 talking about post hoc fallacies all the time, but just because she talked about such thing and she is an educator doesnt mean that by being there in her presence that I absorbed her information.

Jumpan Mario Mario's previous allias resembled Mario Segalli which was Nintendo's new york land lord.

Why did Uranus hate his children so much, because they were impotant, and they conspired to castrate him.

the Raft of Medusa does indeed kick asses, it has been the inspiratin for soem of my artwork.

George A. Romero movies that don't involve zombies. I saw the Crazies that was pretty good. I still need to watch Monkey Shines, Bruiser, I want to see Season of the Withch and a few others. I like Creepshow and Tales from the Darkside, but those both involve Zombies. Pretty soon I will have seen all his film work. I'm wanting to get a better copy of Night of the Living Dead, I was at borders and saw a digitally remastered version that looked pretty good(i have the dollar store version) and it was filled with special features and an Interview with Duane Jones.

Ray Harryhausen did not make King Kong, although he was very inspired by it. He did however make Mighty Joe young whichis pretty muc a knockoff. I havn't seen the original kingh kong in over a decade. I have watched Peterr Jacksons version and i liked it.  Its also been ages since I saw the King Kong with Jeff Bridges, but man did the Universal ride kick ass(im not sure, but i heard they tore it down) ;(

Clockwork Orange is not a bad movie...in fact it is a great movie.  BUT it is one of the most painful and despressing movies to watch.  I will not put myself through that movie again.

I have a list of great movies that I won't put myself through again:

The Passion
Welcome to the Dollhouse
Clockwork Orange

those are the 3 on the top of my head.

As for Marvel Zombies...I understand your issue about smart Zombies and I haven't read it either.  I have read the Walking Dead or parts of it and that is fantastic, so is Invincible.  Both are fun reads.  I finished the other day 30 days of Night and that was a great read, but not as scary as people let on.  It could be if you let it get in your head though.

Why does everyone think typing on the wii takes long? i do it all the time and i usually right my longer post on it because its much easier and comforting to browse the forum from bed, so i'm on it longer to post more.

as for the perms reply on 80s music, i'm saddened that you didn't post anything i don't already listen to but glad to know i'm not the only one really into 80s music. some of my french call me a homo for it, whatever.

i haven't seem Bruiser but i believe thats a film with some members of the Misfits in it (as well as some guys from ICP but they suck). I had no idea he directed that, now i really want to watch it. Speaking of george a romero and the Misfits, i believe he directed a music video for their song “Scream” not one of their best songs from that era of their career but pretty good and the video kicks so much ass! check it out on youtube, its like a mini zombie movie.

Do you like my avatar?

I made Septermber 'ThePerm' month. Does it please you?

Marvel Zombies can crawl in a hole with Stan Lee and stay there.

Tears For Fears' Pale Shelter is the most awesome song to come out of the 80s. Along with Def Leppard's Photograph.

Do you think the "Mad World" cover is better than the original?
Title: RE:Theperms post usefulness
Post by: bustin98 on September 20, 2007, 06:38:43 PM
Not at all. I'm not a fan of most covers. Its a decent cover, don't get me wrong. And I think of Gears of War everytime I hear that version (never saw Donny Darko).

The latest is 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World' as heard on that commercial for a town ran by children. And the cover of 'Shout' = ugh. But I'm not a fan of that song anywho.

The only artist who I think has done exceptionally well with covers is Trent Reznor. Too bad he's never done Tears For Fears. And if anyone is a fan of Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus, hunt down the Superstarved album by Gravity Kills. Hands down the best cover of that song anywhere.

and isnt black audio the "side project" from davey havok and jade pudget (of afi)? i've only recently heard about it but was wondering if it was any good, what would you recommend?

Title: RE:Theperms post usefulness
Post by: EasyCure on September 21, 2007, 08:16:27 AM
well i doubt their trying to go back to doing hardcore punk music with Black Audio, from what i've heard its supposed to sound techo-ish and industrial. maybe the new sound will fit davey's new voice better, who knows? but since theperm says atleast one song sounds like its out of the 80s, i wanna atleast give it a shot.
Title: RE:Theperms post usefulness
Post by: ThePerm on September 21, 2007, 07:58:15 PM
I downloaded some of AfI's videos on youtube, and didnt like it, but i like their black audio song. Just go to youtube if you want to hear it.

Romero did direct that video you guys are speaking of, because he wanted a misfits song in his movie. When I rented The Crazies they had a huge Romero Bio that talked about his upcoming projects, including what became land of the dead(dead reconing was its working title)

Bustin98..thank you for honoring theperm

The Gary Jules version oif Mad World was pretty good, i first heard it on Donnie Darko. Thats how i got to like it. I like the original one, but I can't say I like either better than the other. I like to have multiple takes on the same thing. For instance I have a copy of Night of the Living Dead 68, I just bought Night of the Living dead 90, while I was at borders I saw a better copy of NOTLD thats Romero approved..iand looking at the back it looks like that its a better transfer. Right next to it is a colorized NOTLD..which I would also like to have. Also, as bad as the Night of the Living Dead 3d movie is supposed to be I still want that one too.

my favorite most intense "Zombie" scene is the beggining of 28 weeks later, that was so awesome.
Title: RE: Theperms post usefulness
Post by: EasyCure on September 22, 2007, 07:57:20 PM
I knew the bit about land of the deads working title (dead reckoning). When i heard about it i was a little saddened to find out the title we got was mostly fanservice as well as marketing.
I can't wait for his next “Dead” project. Speaking of , what are your thoughts on the upcoming Day of the Dead remake? Or remakes in general?

i for one dislike most remakes because i'd rather watch something attempt to be original, but i've made a few exceptions. Dawn of the dead for instance as well as the upcoming Day of the dead films. I gave the recent Halloween a shot because it was trying to add the origins of michael myers evil psyche to the story (though i ended up being disappointed). Also gave The Hills Have Eyes (1) a chance because it was a good b movie that deserved to be retold, though i turned down the sequel because Nick Canon was in it (lol).

Then there are remakes that just tick me off. Bionic Woman, Disturbia, for instance, and i threw a fit when i heard Revenge of the Nerds was supposed to be remade. Luckily that fell through because the movie couldn't of been as funny as the original in this politically correct day and age.

One remake i'm on the fence about it Get Smart. I loved that show when i was a kid and i'm curious to see how the film does.

Just listened to some Blaqk Audio stuff, not very impressed. Its good and catchy but when i first heard of the new sound i was expecting some of Jades guitar laced over the electronica stuff, which they've been incorporating into their sound gradually with their last few albums. Instead i got nothing that bands like VNV Nation, Apoptygma Berzerk, and Bella Morte haven't already done before. It's a shame too cuz jade is a pretty good guitarist.
Title: RE:Theperms post usefulness
Post by: ThePerm on September 23, 2007, 12:09:27 PM
I was very aware watching Disturbia that it was pretty much a Rear Window knockoff, but on the other hand I thought it was a pretty good Rear Window knockoff. Going into the imdb forums you'll see alot of flack going to the new When a Stranger Calls, but i never did see the original. I have nothing to really hate on about, except the movies soundtrack scares the bejesus out of me.  It was good to me, ill have to watch the original sometime. Also may the great deities bless Casa Video in Tucson, iv gotten to see so many things that you wont find in Blockbuster or Hollywood video.

As far as the Political correctness of movies as Easycure puts it...ill agree. Movies are too pussy nowadays to push the boundaries, or as it were to be more real. When I was at the video store I overheard some chick talking to her boyfriend about how horror movies are nothing but torture porn, it was funny because he corrected her and was like "actually, that type of thing has been going on since the 60's" obviously she hasn't seen alot of horror movies, maybe nothing outside that Japanese pg13 fest the Ring cast upon us. Though I'll have to say no movie has ever frightened me psychologically as the Ring has.

also, there is alot of hate in the Resident Evil film series, the fact is the series isnt bad at all, its just that its tied to a great video game series very loosely. If they redid the trilogy and removed all resident evil references and called it Alice in Zombieland than nobody would complain.
Title: RE:Ask ThePerm
Post by: EasyCure on September 23, 2007, 02:27:23 PM
i dunno, maybe i was in a bad mood when i saw the first RE movie (and that dampers anything) but i really didnt like it, and i dont think it has much to do with the fact that they didnt tie it into the games better.

maybe i should watch it again and try not to think of it as a Resident Evil movie and just a movie, but as it stands i still think its pretty bad overall. As far as a movie based on a video game goes... atleast its no House of the Dead. WORST. MOVIE. EVER.

Title: RE:Ask ThePerm
Post by: EasyCure on September 23, 2007, 02:52:04 PM
thats exactly what i thought but was too lazy to try and confirm it, i was going to put it on my list of remakes but didnt in case i was wrong
Title: RE:Ask ThePerm
Post by: ThePerm on September 23, 2007, 03:28:33 PM
the invasion looks interesting, the whole idea of Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a provocative one, one reason why this would make it the 4th remake(or more?). original 56' remake 78' body snatchers 93' invasion 07'

invaders from mars 53' ill have to watch
invaders from mars 86'
have similar plotlines

I'll agree House of the Dead was the worst movie I ever saw. One wonders however is Uwe Boll a bad director, or does he not care. My mom got me the movie called zombie Nation by Uli Lummel and its in the same territory as House of the Dead. Its probably worse, but iv already classified House of the Dead as worse movie ever and its hard to change that.
Title: RE: Ask ThePerm

seriously that one takes the cake. I only saw it because my brother insisted renting a couple of scary movies. It was House of 1000 corpses, something else, then house of the dead. I warned him it would be terrible but he got it anyway. By the time the first game-over like scene came up, i walked away wanting to punch a whole thru my wall as well as laugh uncontrollably.

Why did you bump all of those posts?  Was it to be annoying or funny?
Title: RE: Ask ThePerm
Post by: ThePerm on September 24, 2007, 09:12:02 AM
I only bumped posts that I found to be ironic, alot of them were from the "Nintendo is Doomed" era that plagued the boards a while back.  One of them by Mode Red predicted what became Nintendo's strategy. Then there was the Acclaim one where Acclaim was making the claim that ti was Nintendo's fault they were going out of business and that they would cease to support them. Which is funny because back then I was like "well if you supported Nintendo exclusively instead of spreading all your employees thin than maybe you would produce a better product and get more sales(as they did in the nes/n64 days)" Ironically they went out of business. The fact of the matter is Nintendo is number 1 in market share(not that far ahead 360 though) and all that bitching was for nothing. Also some of those threads were bitching about the Wii's name which reflected in market data had no affect at all, in fact might have had a positive affect. I still giggle like a school girl whenever people talk about me playing with my Wii. Most have already forgotten the penis connotation. Its funny and Ironic. I was hoping others joined in the irony discussion on the boards but alas no one came on to comment on the threads between 8pm az time and whenever you closed the threads. I think its important to reflect back on things previously to give us a gauge of what the future holds. Which is why Sony is going downhill. They are the Nintendo of the n64 era, arrogant and disastrous. The sixaxis may have motion controll, but its no Wiimote. Cds are to playstation what the Wiimote is to the Wii. Having better (ingame)graphics didn't help Nintendo that
much when you could just stream prerendered cinemas off of Cds. just like better graphics doesnt help Sony when none of its games are that fun and Wii games are a blast to play. Sony has ceased to be the leader, suddenly. Its more like a competition between Nintendo and Microsoft instead of Sony and Microsoft as it was in the last generation. Ironic because everyone said Nintendo was going down in the gamecube era. Posting in old threads is like traveling through time with knowledge of the lottery numbers to come.

When Konami was having SK make MGSTS Kojima basically said they didnt have alot of people working on it. Maybe in the future we'll hear of some uber Metal Gear Solid 3 port, its hard to say. I would love to see however a new Mystical Ninja game along the lines of the first n64 one. I plan this weekend to record lots of n64 videos.

Dear ThePerm:

Why is it so many people are obsessed with loving my man nipple?   I hear there are even weirdos on the internet that practically beg people to ask then questions regarding my man nipple.  It's like those people on GameFAQs who start the "Ask me anything about [...]" topics.  It's crazy how much time those people spend studying their subject.  I fear there may be others on the internet who spend too much time studying my man nipple (anything more than 5 hours a week is over the limit folks!).  Mr. ThePerm, what should I do about crazy internet stalkers who just can't get enough of my man nipple?
Title: RE: Ask ThePerm
Post by: ThePerm on December 25, 2007, 11:52:27 AM
I think you should flood the internet with your nipple. Then it will catch on to fad status, after this has happened the fad will die down. Soon after a small cult of unclebob's nipple worshipers will still exist, but they will be a niche community that only talks among themselves, making nipple fan art, and writing fan fiction.

Another strategy would be to flood the net with another nipple hoping that this nipple eclipses yours in popularity thus putting your nipple into obscurity.

unclebob asked a great question, and raises a good point. I don't think we should limit our discussion on the above listed material. Ask me ANYTHING

Vincent Prince once said "A man who limits his interests limits his life."

speaking of Vincent Price
Did anyone watch I am Legend starring Will Smith. I thought it was pretty good. The next day after watching I am Legend I decided to look up The Last Man starring Vincent Price a previous adaptation of the book I am Legend. I found out they had it at wal-mart for only a dollar. Great movie, but godamn Digiview, there are audio clips missing from the movie and its a horrible transfer. Wish they would spend time remastering it. When I get back to Tucson after xmas break i'm going to check out The Omega Man with Charlton Heston, which is another adaptation of I am Legend.

speaking of I Am Legend. whats your opinion on the use of CGI in that film? i thought the mutated citizens of new york would of looked better if they were real people with some cool make up. When they are finally revealed its dissapointing becuase it sorta pulls you out of the atmosphere that was set.

aslo, this is will smith in another movie with a ton of CGI characters, do you think its possible he doesnt get along with other actors and demands that the majority of the cast be animated?

also, how was your xmas?
Title: RE: Ask ThePerm
Post by: ThePerm on December 26, 2007, 05:34:13 AM
I too thought the CGI characters were unconvincing. However, i read an article somewhere. In this article it said that they originally used people with prosthetics during the filming, but the director thought they were also unconvincing. I myself can imagine a better movie with prosthetic creeps. CGI is overused in films, film should have both. I have an associates in CG and I'm almost done with my bachelors of art. As far as Will Smith goes I don't think he has a problem working with other actors. Some actors are solely movie actors, but he comes from a television background. Goofing off on set is ok on television which is filmed entirely on video as opposed to on film with expensive film where its frowned upon. Not only that he has worked with some pretty good ensemble casts. He is the star in this movie, but for example within Independence Day he was just one of the stars in an ensemble. I don't think he's too big headed. I think with an abundance of cg characters comes with not having to pay alot of people. In interviews he comes off as real down to earth person. If you had a conversation with him you would probably stop thinking of him as a celebrity and more as a real person.

xmas was great. I got metroid prime corruption, resident evil umbrellla chronicles, and Zelda: phantom hourglass. I got a bunch of dvds. 28 weeks later, Hostel 2, 1408

Flight of the living dead has my approval. I will go to the video store to go buy notld 3d, hopefully it will have its 3d glasses. It is supposed to come with 4 pairs.

Haven't seen Gangs of the dead. As much as i like Zombie movies I sometimes avoid what look like C fair. However, because you said something I will check it out.

I watched Ngith of the Living dead 3d, as expected Sid Haig was great, the director was a tard though. When I watched the special features though, it seemed as though the producers were tards too. Bigger ones. Pot humor was apparently imposed.

If the characters knew about Zombies they would do way better against them. The word Zombie should never be used in a Zombie movie, unless promptly criticized. "Don't use the Zed word!"

I've always wondered why 99% of zombie movie take the virus route instead of going with the original voodoo theme. Thoughts?
Title: RE: Ask ThePerm
Post by: ThePerm on December 26, 2007, 04:40:56 PM
I read a book on this. As time goes by the audience will tend to accept certain ideas and ignore others. Voodoo is just seen nowadays as misguided belief. The Zombie movie appeals more to science fiction fans in general than horror fans. Viruses are real and they are scary. Alot of people are germaphobic. This doesn't mean  Voodoo zombie films don't appear out of nowhere. Also, most Zombie movies are based after Romero's conception. Post NOTLD zombies had no solid definition, zombies could be anything. There are surfing zombies in I was a Teenage Zombie. After Romero it became pretty clear to be a zombie a creature has to fall into this definition

Romero Zombie:
            Dead, Lumbering, Mindless, Cannibalistic, Viral
Russo Zombie
Dead, Lumbering, stupid and hungry, Cannibalistic, Viral
Snyder Zombie
Dead, Kenyan Fast, Mindless, Cannibalistic, Viral
Boyle Zombie
Living but infected, quick or slow, Mindless, murderously violent, Viral
Mikami Zombie
Dead and mutating, Lumbering, Mindless, Cannibalistic, Viral
Classic pre-romero Zombie
Totally Random, depends on individual movie
Voodoo
A mindless SLAVE, who has arisen from the grave, in reality is poisoned by a chemical which creates undead-like
symptoms. Partly related to the Vampire mythos, partly real. Giving someone Tetrodotoxin and giving them a
          dissociative drug.
Revanents
Dead, Lumbering, Cannibalistic, to some extent Viral

I'm not a pothead, but various of my friends are and they have all sorts of names for their weed like Mersch and Kine and whatnot, but to me it all sounds like marketing by their drug dealers. Like when Danté is marketing Frankenstein on Grandmas Boy.

Title: RE: Ask ThePerm
Post by: Stogi on December 27, 2007, 09:18:37 AM
Oh I wasn't talking about the names. Hell, names don't mean anything to me, I'm a veteran . It's all about the science now. Like whats the THC percentage? (15% normal dank; 30+% absolutely ridiculous; 99% "the essence")

I was talking about a drug inducing zombie like effects......

Does that count? Is it possible to get so high that you act like a lumbering zombie?
Title: RE: Ask ThePerm

Power drill is the greatest high ever, just tape down the trigger, position your temple and go to town! You could be a lumbering zombie for life! How sweet would that be?
Title: RE: Ask ThePerm
Post by: ThePerm on December 27, 2007, 09:56:24 AM
speaking of power drills. One time i went to the 99cents store and went on a spending spree and i bought every double feature dollar dvd they had. I got a ton of kung fu movies and a couple of horror movies. So anyhow i got this movie call driller killer. It was about an artist who goes around at night with a power drill killing people. Pretty interesting, he too was a pothead.

I have pondered the relationship to zombies and getting high. One time i saw this movie call camp fire tales, they got this crazy pot from some dude and they smoked it until they became zombies. Return of the Living Dead:Rave from the Grave has this as the premise. You take Trioxin as a drug, but the more you take the more zombie like you become.

Zombie is a very flexable word, its more of a state of mind; that it is the definition. To be a zombie is to be mindless, thats my definition. IE you could be spaced out at work and lumber around like a zombie, only a good shaking would get you out of that state. Drugs, especially dissociative ones would bring you to this state the easiest. I really hate it when i hear zombies talking and having conversations in movies, because if their talking then their not zombies. They may be undead cannibals, but if they talk than they can't be zombies. One movie that pissed me off in particular was Zombie nation, that movie was so frickin stupid. The zombies banded together and were like "Maybe we should start a zombie nation". I was like godamn Uli Lumell. Ghouls can talk, i give my exception to the Return of the Living dead series, because for the most part their logic is turned off and while they talk they are driven by their need to eat brains. Thier desire is so simplistic that it rules their whole being making them mindless.

Hell yeah, also if you liked The Princess Bride than you'll probably like Stardust, which isn't as good, but not a bad movie.

I was watching Robin Hood Men in Tights yesteday, and I have to say Cary Elwes needs to do alot more whimsical fantasy movies. He's great in them. I hope he's not too old.

speaking of Fido theres a point in the movie where the characters are like

suddenly jar with severed head glows
Robinson: Whats that
Bottoms: Thats my first kill
Robinsonh
Bottoms: He's my Uncle Bob

need to get a screen cap

I call it Alice in Zombieland

British Scifi
The X-files and Sliders destroy your notion, current scifi favors the Brits, but in the long run its pointless to compare.

Title: RE: Ask ThePerm
Post by: ThePerm on February 09, 2008, 04:05:26 PM
I am currently reading
World War Z
Y-the last Man

Beyond Illusion and Doubt-a book i grabbed from a Hare Krishna

you see there are these Hare Krishna's on campus, they have gotten better about being transparent. Iskon is an evangelical sect of hinduism. Anyways. You'll walking around anywhere in Tucson. Suddenly a little Indian guy will walk up to you and put a book in your hand saying that the book is free. Now i don't ever refuse free stuff, but here is what happens. They tell you its free, but they ask for a nominal donation, I never have cash on me..its the debit age. Usually, one party asks for monetary compensation in exchange for goods then that means its not free. This time one of them came up to me and he had a British accent. He did his routine and as always he snatches the book out of my hand when I don't have cash. 2 days later the same guy comes up, puts the book in my hand and is like its free, i with the book in my hand take 3 steps back and yell "oh its free thanks!", he starts to say the donation bit, but i go "I know, i know", but then he lets me have it. Saying "will you read it", I tell him yes and go on my way.

So far reading the book, it doesn't sit well with my philosophy. There are holes in its logic, but because I started reading the book, i went and looked up the wikipedia article on the Bhagavad Gita, the source document for the book and I have to say the plot line is pretty cool.

In fact I would say the whole plot line of Wind Waker(and thus Twilight Princess) is based on the Bhagavad Gita, which might explain the appearance of the fairies.

more on question 2 later

i'll tell you what NOT to be:

The Joker.

If i was better at stage make-up i'd love to recreate Two Face as portrayed in TDK but you know there will be a ton of guys doing it (probably with cheap pre-made costumes).

As you can tell by my avatar i like doing the Zombie thing for halloween. I've been experimenting with stage make up for a few years now and last year was the first time i ever brought pre-made prosthetics into the act (the cheek bone on the right and if you look carefully at the right side of my mouth i have a torn lip effect.)

i think this year i'll just do something more elaborate. Not sure how i feel about using prosthetics again, i might go for a more DIY thing. I have this idea of having guts spilling out by using colored condoms filled with goo. Lol we'll see if i can work that out.

I wasn't serious about wanting to dress up like Two-Face, but i would love to try my hand at acheiving that look but i dont think i'm that good with effects makeup. Even if i could get the textures right i'd never get the eye down the way they did it (for obvious reasons).

Who the hell wants to dress up like the commis. anyway?

i don't like Fad costumes anyway, it takes away the uniqueness of halloween.

Here's a question for you:
Where does the Nintendo 64 rank in terms of your favourite systems?
Title: Re: Ask ThePerm- Zombie Edition
Post by: ThePerm on March 05, 2009, 08:50:03 PM
top
#1 Nintendo 64
#2 NES
#3 Gamecube
#4 Dreamcast
#5 Atari Jaguar
#6 Sega Saturn
#7 Playstation
#8 Sega Genesis
#9 xbox 360
#10 ps3
#11 Wii

thats where the list ends
Super Nintendo is not on the list because i never had one, wish i did, i played several games on emulator, but i never owned one.

my brother had both a ps3 and a 360 so i enjoyed them Wii is at 11 because while as good as it is i'm not enjoying it right now. actually its easier to make lists of consoles that are old than new

thats simple load your men in Yakutsk, Mongolia, Siberia, and Ural. slowly attack neighbouring territories and at the end of the turn fortify the adjacent territory you attacked from. Don't forget to collect your card. Constantly build up your territory and make an alliance with whoever took over Australia. Allow them to attack from Siam to India to the middle east. When they reach the point when they are about to take over africa, than attack from Ural to Ukraine. Likely your ally will turn on you from Ukraine. What they don't realize is they are probably still weak in Siam. Turn in your cards and take over Australia. After this take over Japan and Alaska. Likely the next person youll be dealing with has South America and a good foothold in North America. They have likely mostly obliterated the original holder of North America. Take out that person and take their cards. They will likely have more than enough cards for you to take over the rest of the world before escalation.  Now its up to you to figure out how to conquer the rest of the world.

I love Risk! My brother in a drunken rage punched me in the face once because we were arguing over the rules in Risk 2210 AD. I was right of course and he apologized the next day. I played on a castle risk board, but not castle risk rules. We attempted to play lord of the rings risk but it was frustrating because the font is hard to read. Between my brother and I we have like 7 or so different risk versions. When I was in college my room mates and I played pretty much nightly for a couple weeks on and off for a semester. We have the new Risk, but have yet to play it.

The Perm,

Scientist have recently (in the west) used stem cells to enlarge womens breast naturally(real fake breast lol) & lower stomach fat in the process.
Do you think this is a procedure that can be replicated to enlargening a womans ass too? (i think the Japanese have been doing both of these for years)

p.s. When do you think they will do something similar for men only involving the penis?
Title: Re: Ask ThePerm
Post by: ThePerm on April 03, 2009, 02:44:06 AM
its hard to say, i can't imagine that sort of thing lasting long naturally. The procedure would have to be done over and over again because the women's body would change based on her predisposition genetically for small ass. On the other hand its hard to say what displaced ass cells will do,

as far as the penis goes, I'm quite satisfied with my own penis size and don't think of such things. Then again by logic the same thing might happen, but its once again hard to say what dick cells will do over time.

oh and back to the virus, i remember now, i tried to download Religulous, and thats when i got virtumonde

"Excuse me miss, but do ya suck balls?"

true true, but you missing my point. Its easy for the average joe to shave their stuff for the ladies. I know the last girl who took care of me didn't like body hair anyway, but she still took care of me. Now if I was smart I would have shaved ahead of time and i might have gotten it all the time instead of a once over. It would have been a better experience for her. On the other hand if your king Leonidas, your king Leonidas. Now he's a real man. Some girls like the rugged burly type and will do anything for them, but some girls won't. I had a girl once that loved my body hair, so in contrast to the girl who didn't. Its hard to know what they want when they're not all the same. Its really hard to say whether Leonidas shaves his southern regions. He has a completely hairless waxed chest, but he has a fucking ridiculous beard. Its a weird sort of balance.

Bill, Bill was that little red head anime avatar that always showed up in almost every thread for the last several years. Evan was always given alot of flak for things, but for as long as he was on here i barely remember anything. I miss Mario, and i can see why he acted out. 1 Convincing you the joke thread should have the name "the joke thread" in the ever changing title.
2. Russian threads, the idea was one of the first threads type in the funhouse forums
3. F-zero Mafia, before my suggested mafia section mafia games were in the funhouse
4. Zombie Crisis, i made a game up that was overly complicated based on mafia, it should be moved over there. One day it will be resurrected and played again with better rules. Hopefully with not me as the game master
5. ---more thought

maxi
to stay alive in mafia, don't be a target. In the last mafia game i was super quiet, it basically pegged me as mafia, but because i wasn't thought of at all I was out of sight out of mind. Mop it up got hit simply because we didnt have any townie roles pegged. I was like who should i eliminate? Rather than look at the list of townies, i just picked the first one that came to mind. Later i would just eliminate more experienced players.

spak spang
my brother lives in South Korea, he'll report to me, ill report to you.
check out his photos

5 things to have during a zombie attack

1 Food and Water
2 a shotgun - slow loading but effective long distance
3 a pistol - faster loading but not as much umph
4 a spear - long distance for when ammo runs out
5 a sword or axe - short distance

Great and full of life. I had some in Amsterdam and I was literally skipping down the street I was so happy.

What does the 'Y' in your name stand for?

Nothing really. One of my middle names is Yousif, but that's not the real reason either...Honestly, the only thing it doesn't stand for is "and". It's not spanish! Really, I thought it just made my name flow better, plus the acronym is pretty hilarious.

he doesn't like the brown sands of pu pu, he strictly likes the pink beaches. he told me so himself.

a man makes a girl want to deal with it, im pretty sure Leonidas's wife would never ask him to shave his balls.

I'm just saying, if you've never had the pleasure of being pleasured in that manner, then you can't hate on me when I groom myself in order to make it more appropriate and more enticing.

"Excuse me miss, but do ya suck balls?"

girls do like the clean shaveness, i trimmed myself for my last encounter, and it was a successful counter, I said something similar to the last question so, do you give Ben Johnsons ..i didnt say ben johnson , but unfortunately she said she did not. She did everything else though :D
It was way better this time than the last, i felt like King Leonidas myself. I was sweating like crazy!
I hate shaving though, i'm a hairy dude. Its been 2 days since i shaved, and now im all stubbly and razor bumped. Never shaved my chest till this time, but i tried it, i look way skinnier. I guess i just looked like a gorilla before.

Was she a hooker?
Title: Re: Ask ThePerm
Post by: ThePerm on May 25, 2009, 04:58:02 AM
She wasn't an official hooker, if you pay when you go out on the date it isn't much different.  I took her to see star trek last week, ticket 6.50 matinee and i had to buy my own of course, soda cost 4.50 i bought a second loyalty cup of beverage so next time i go its only $2 for 2 people, i bought a pizza for $5.45 a week later. We started watching Jeepers Creepers, i didn't want to see it much. Then she told me she had never seen Napoleon Dynamite, so we started watching it. Halfway through the movie we were in my room. Like right when the forever young song starts playing.

So the total was $22.95

and slanged up for codization
The first move was the arm around the shoulder, the second was her move was the kissing, the third move was hers again was all out tongue war, then my move was an external bolder exam. The phone rang, we took a break, she went to the bathroom. Soon as she got out of the bathroom i mauled her. We started making out harder, i pushed her against the wall and lifted her up, we started scrumping(look it up), my room is right next to the bathroom so i could just sort of push her into my room, my bed is right next to the door, then we just started fooling around more, one thing kept leading to another, it was a good time, we got in all sorts of positions, had to get on the floor cus i got this little twin bed that can't handle all that motion. She met her maker about 5 times(she must have said his name about 500 times), i pre-prepped before she came over and never met mine, but an hour or so worth of rocking and rolling was fun. i was sweating hard and I had to just relax cus i was out of breath. I felt amazing though, like exactly how it felt to beat Ocarina of time. It was good game, that took about a week to beat. It was a tightrope walk though, i knew if I had made some different decisions it wouldn't have turned out as well as it did, but it turned out perfect. Even better than expected. We had a conversation after wards and it was weird i felt like a total player. I think im going to give her a call and see if she wants to finish the movie sometime this week. I don't want a GF though. I've spent about 5 hours with the girl and its cost me 22.95. God knows how much my old GF drained me, and I barely got any satisfaction from her.

Hahaha, that story was pretty funny. It felt like you just beat Ocarina of Time! LOL...I've never heard that analogy. Way to go buddy!

But were you drunk or something? Maybe your "raincoat" was too small?

Everyone's been there, but not sober!
Title: Re: Ask ThePerm
Post by: ThePerm on May 25, 2009, 07:10:47 PM
I wasn't drunk. Na, i pre-prepped. I cleaned the pipes in the shower about an hour before hand. The first time i got introduced to Ben Johnson i cleaned the pipes before hand and the girl tried for like an hour and a half to make our introduction a good one. I didn't clean the pipes the last encounter back in December and it was a short encounter. Finished pretty quickly...Dissapointing. I probably could have finished this time, but my muscles hurt from all the work. I'd rather not finish and go for an hour in like every imaginable position (we even did the lotus position), than to be like done in a couple of minutes and be like "im done, get off!". Although, i'd really like to have both. She was supposed to pick up all her girlie friends and take them to the bar after we were done with the movie, but we were busy doing other things. If she had no where to go afterwords I would have taken a break and started up again. I was a little annoyed when she came over and she said she planned to do something after, but it all worked out on my end anyhow. I totally got what i wanted.

Last encounter was in December...?
One night stands? or ongoing projects?
Title: Re: Ask ThePerm
Post by: ThePerm on May 25, 2009, 07:59:13 PM
somewhere in between, the other girl from December lives in Wisconsin and was visiting her family for the holidays, i know her because I used to have a class with her brother, she's studyng veternarian stuff up there and maybe we'll reconnect if she moves back. It sure seemed like a one night stand though. This newer girl we'll see. I don't plan on anything more than a booty call/fwb from her. Now that i got the ball rolling though I want to take on more ambitious projects.

thats super ambitious! I mentioned the last girl i dated to this one and they seemed to know each other. The last girl i went on a date with I only got to kiss her, than her myspace said she had a bf. She seemed to like me, but just never returned a call(prolly cus i waited to long to call her back), anyhow she had a nice little hard body, but was kinda skanky. I prolly could have scooped that up, but when we went out we went bowling, i just got lazy afterward and went home to bed. I was talking to my friend and he was like "your an idiot"

Next time I say dry humping im just going to say stealing apples, this could be the place where american slang reaches cockney levels of sophistication

RAB, how do I become more awesome?
Title: Re: Ask The RAB
Post by: RABicle on November 12, 2009, 02:08:37 PM
There's lots of way to be more awesome. For example you might want to spoil the ending of a popular new release (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=29846.msg563952#msg563952). You can also invest in a board of some sort. Most boards are awesome and just having one makes you more awesome. For example I've got a skateboard that I've only skated on like once time but just having it makes me more awesome, similarly when my mother was buying a new ironing board I out manoeuvred my rival sibling to secure the old one. Actually that is another way to appear awesome; acquire rivals and consistently beat them. Don't be afraid of taking on obviously stronger foes either; I'm building a hockey rivalry between my university and the weak dogs over are UWA who can only claim 8 consecutive national titles to their name. At the moment when they beat us they look like over-achieving faggots, thrashing a rag team team of jokers, but when we beat them we will be the ultimate in superstar legends, full of passion and spirit.

One common tactic people use to try and appear more awesome is to hang out with lame-os. I strongly advise against this tactic as their lameness will rub off on you. You may feel brief euphoria being the most interesting person around but soon you'll find that they party they held is over by 9:30 pm and you have to stick around another hour to sober up before you can drive home. Imagine the night you could've been having at the pub or even tugging off. I've recently had to jettison some Veterinary Science and Chiropractic Science students from my life as their **** was too pathetic for me.

Got it.  I'll pick up a water board first chance I get.

I'll also start hanging out with those meth addicts who hang out on the other side of the tracks.  They never go to sleep so there's no worry that the party ending before I do.

I dunno. I've been hanging out (with Infernal for that matter) at Aussie-Nintendo under a pseudonym. But they've been pretty lame lately so i thought I'd barge back over here for some cameo posts. I still flick through NWR at least 3 times a week.

The one hoping to become more awesome.
Dear Rab, what's the biggest spider you've ever seen in the wild?
Ahh! An excellent question. The thing about Australia and spiders is that there really is no distinction between spiders in the wild and spiders in the house. The biggest spider I've ever seen is actually a very common species; the Huntsman Spider, they should be found in subtropical Americas so I hope it's not alien to everyone. I used to have a picture that I used for demonstrative purposes of a Hunstman next to a ruler on the wall above my pillow. I can't seem to find it now :(. But yeah Hunstsman, see them all the time, totally awesome spiders. As a general size guide, make a fist, now imagine a spider is sitting on the back of your hand, his legs would span the whole of the back of your hand.
Dear Rab
Are you regretting having to answer all these idiotic questions?

Title: Re: What is ThePerm?

ill start with the easiest question since im Wii typing. I have read George Romero's Resident evil script and it's pretty good in my opinion, it follows the games alot better than the actual movies do. Despite the movies not following the games, I'm looking forward to the upcoming movie. It has a post Apocalypse <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> feel.

I don't remember reading past the first page of the script, I was full of **** back then. And I couldn't spell.
