Title: Mii
Post by: ThePerm on September 19, 2007, 09:02:39 AM
I was thinking about this..what if you could play as a Mii as a character..they could shoot out fireballs that have customizable skins ala F-zero.

Can you shoot out customizable fireballs?  Then why should your Mii be able to?

I think playable Miis are a possibility, but I'd guess that generic attacks are more likely than customizable ones.

It was "Video Land", and your NES gun doesn't work? I've modded mine, as well as an NES controller belt with a flux capacitor to do that jumpy/runny/pausy thing.

All seriousness aside, I would imagine it would be difficult for Nintendo to justify the ability to shoot your little sister's likeness with Snake's rocket launcher or a Sonic Spin Attack. Then again you can box your little sister's likeness in Wii Sports, so it may happen still.

The final unlockable character will be Miyamoto's Mii

Here's how I worked it out: The game will clearly ask you to create a save file for the game. When you do, it will ask for your name and if you want to assign a Mii to the save file. When its time for the Mii to get unlocked the game will use the Mii you assigned and voila! The Mii is a playable character!

I still say they should just attach your Mii head to the Animal Crossing main character...It'd make more sense and kill two birds with one stone...

my mi idea was this...the character has like a set of moves..like kick jump, double jump, and fireball...but how that fireball looked depended on how you painted it. As most of you know...my mii looks like my avatar

or maybe mr game and watches second skin is a mii!

I can't even begin to think how customizable fireballs would work and why they would ever be considered for inclusion.

Notch another fine example of posting up for ThePerm.

Wouldn't "painting" be more in tune with an Animal Crossing character, not a Mii? Also, your ideas are beyond retarded.

I'd like a Mii fighter that you control entirely by picking up with a disembodied hand and flailing around, like in the Mii and Everybody Votes Channels. It'd be amazing, I'm sure.

That'd be a fun assist trophy, to be sure.

B - swings a tennis racket up in front of the Mii, catching any projectiles it hits into the air in above of it. Press B again at the height of the projectile's arc to serve the projectile back at its owner
Toward B - Mii pitches a baseball forward
Down - B - Mii rolls a bowling ball along the ground in front of it. Hold B to charge up more speed
Up - B - Mii throws a vicious uppercut, carrying Mii high into the air (recovery move)

Toward smash - strong right/left cross
Down smash - swing a baseball bat down onto the ground in front of you
Up smash - swing a golf club over your head

Final smash: Mii Parade. Hundreds of Miis drop onto the level from above and swarm the level, damaging players they bump into.

just because it hasn't appeared in a previous Nintendo game doesn't mean they can't innovate new ideas into the game. My idea for the fireball merely comes from Miis not having any recallable traits.
Captain Falcon and Starfox pre-smash bros were characters confined to vehicles.

the fireball thing is more of a parody of other fighting games, as alot of games contain pretty much the same characters with palette swaps.

Ryu & Ken
Sub-zero & Scorpion
Mario , Luigi, and Dr. Mario

alot of Nintendo Wifi games have featured paint style customization
mario kart and animal crossing to name a few. So its not too far fetched.

The Miis are a culmination of years of Miyamotos research with Stage Debut, which arguably was in even better form on 64DD. Which allowed all sorts of customization.

No matter how you try and justify your stupid idea, it's still a stupid idea.

98% of all the speculation on this board is pure, 100%, grade-A idiocy.

Why single out perm for his?

To be fair, he wasn't the only one to rag on Perm (though he did do it twice in this thread...).

I like the idea, for what it's worth. A Mii character isn't a bad idea, per se, but I can see how it would be weird, perhaps even too weird for Smash.

God how i wished the 64DD came to the states. First time i heard of Talent studio i was floored, it was an amazing concept and i couldnt wait to play it.

i never actually saw it in video form, i still have the np issue with a few screens of it (and the mario artist series discs), the textures look pretty good for an n64...

i actually like it better than the mii's

maybe one day we'll finally be able to upload our face's onto a nintendo game, like we should of been able to do since Perfect Dark.

Ah ha ha, Bowser moonwalking.
A Mii character would be okay...or how about a Mii feature that lets you replace the characters' heads with your Mii's head?

Edit: Ha ha, Kirby or Pikachu with a Mii head, stupidest idea ever.

I remember when my buddies and I really wanted a 64dd, one of the things that got me wanting one was Stage Debut. I'm big into customizability. I used to build my own quake and halflife levels and character models. When i said I wanted to have a paintable fireball i meant this. What would you throw at someone if you could throw something at them in smash brothers...it would be different for different people.
I'd really like to throw tomatos at people, maybe you'd like to throw basketballs, or someone else would like to throw toy zebras.

what the 64DD promised would of been a dream for anyone that likes to customize things. I remember reading an example of how what you creat in one game can be used in another.

I dont remember if its an actual example of just a guess of how things could work:

You could paint something in one of the 5 Mario Artist games, which you could save to the DD, then when playing Simcity (or something similar) said painting can appear in your town as a billboard or something. This idea alone sparked my imagination at all the possibilities it could of opened up for the 64 and future nintendo consoles.

Its all well and good that some of these are finally being implimented but too bad it started off with a product very few people had. Back when one of the Pro Skater games came out, i believe 3, one of ps2's features over the GC version was face-mapping for custom skaters (and online vs) and all the fanboys claimed how nintendo was lame for not being able to do that because they didnt have the "awesome" eye toy. Yet when i tried to argue that Nintendo already tried that with PD back on the 64, no one believed me.

now xbox has the custom soundtrack feature and again, more mainstream players will think thats a big microsoft innovation when it could of thearetically been done on the 64DD (using custome mario artist tunes). Maybe now with the wii being a "casual" hit, nintendo will be able to release some of those old concepts as channels/wiiware games.

I dont remember where i read it, but can't you use mp3s in brawl games? Because iv thought of a few songs that would be funny to hear as we smash it up.

well it was discussed when the My Music update came up but it hasnt actually been confirmed that we'll be able to play custom mp3s off an SD card. If im wrong someone please tell me cuz i'll start making a playlist this second if its true.

so far the only games on wii that will have that feature, that i know of atleast, are Excite Truck and the upcomming Endless Ocean. I dont know about 2nd/3rd party games that use it though.

Kirby with a Mii head is brilliant.  It would be just your head eating people.

Or Kirby could just take some of your attributes like glasses, hair ect for that.

Or Pikachu wearing a mask.

I would be ok with a silly mode like that.

Mii mode where all the characters are wearing Mii masks of the player playing them?

Sounds awesome.

The stage builder feature has inspired me...Why settle for just a Mii when you can create a whole new character!

I call it "build a fighter mode". First it takes your Mii data and places it on top of a blank body. Then you modify it by selecting a fighter type (light, medium, heavy), creating smash attacks, creating his or her appearance (clothes, accesories etc.) and more!

The Mii alone would be awesome, but creating a brand new fighter around it would be even better!

i was talking about this in costumes

3 modes that would be awesome
1 Mii mode, just use Mii's to fight
2 build a fighter, build your own fighter(if they leave a character out, you could put them in), hopefully Megman will be in the game, but if not Build him and give him
a moves set thats cross between Mario and Samus. Crash Bandicoot, Knuckles, Spyro etc.
3 Paint, paint existing characters! No oni link no problem, paint em. Add accessories!
