Title: Red Steel 2 Info Coming Next Month?
Post by: WindyMan on September 05, 2007, 08:40:27 AM
ONM in the UK looks like it will have the scoop in its next issue.  "And oh—it's online."

Scans from the current issue of the Official Nintendo Magazine in the UK have strongly hinted at the possibility of the publication revealing details on a new Red Steel game.

In the magazine's preview for next month's issue, Japanese characters and a red dot paint a white background, accompanied by the text, "Bigger.  Better.  Bolder.  Bloodier.  And oh—it's online."  Red Steel is not mentioned directly anywhere in this teaser, but given the context of the pages it's highly likely the game in question is Red Steel 2.

We'll keep our eyes out for ONM's next issue and pass along any information on the game, should it appear.

Let's hope it is at least A YEAR away.  It needs time.  A lot of time.

No matter how much time it has already had.

I've got a fever...and the only prescription...is a better Red Steel II with Metroid-like controls and some incredible level design...and not to mention online w/ voicechat and no lag.

Hopefully this version will be everything Red Steel wasn't. Anything they put together for the first Red Steel needs to be thrown in the garbage and not used for the second.

Even the turn the gun on the side thing?

Red Steel's aiming was pretty bad, but at least it didn't make it feel like you where spinning a virtual bar like COD; the lag in that game was horrible (though even with that I do prefer COD).

Well let's be glad that Metroid set the bar the to beat. Games that simply copy their style will be far better along than anything that came out pre-Prime.

i never found myself shooting that way unless i snuck up behind and wanted to shoot them executioner style... still it would suck to see it go. it made things look more realistic being able to twist that way just because you could.

And it's gonna come with a free ingot of gold.

The aiming in Red Steel alternated from rather irritating to "too good."  Often times the AI was just dumb enough that I could kill them all before they ever were able to get a bead on me.

You could tell that the developers put a lot of good ideas and heart into Red Steel but something just went TERRIBLY wrong.
I bet a sequel, with some more development time and lessons learned, could be pretty damn good.

They were definitely rushed. They really wanted to have the game ready for the Wii's launch. I haven't fully finished the game but I could tell that they had ideas they wanted to polish further but couldn't.

I hope they work harder on the sequel even if it means the game might get released Fall 2008.
