Title: Server problems?
Post by: GoldenPhoenix on August 27, 2007, 03:24:07 PM
I've noticed that NWR seems to be getting bogged down pretty frequently. Are their any plans to rectify this?

Yep, decided to enter the URL for the forum to see if that was still up.. and to my surprise it was, but a Frankensteins like version of it, with no posts in the Smash forum and different main threads leading to others as well. Made a post, as I saw Thatguy did as well, in the lone general topic... and it appears to have vanished with the forums back to normal. Quite odd.

Yep, the posts are gone. They aren't even in my recent history. I'll miss that post, but I'm glad NWR is doing alright.

It was an epic post, one for the ages, and it's a shame insight of that caliber will be lost to time instead of available to be cherished by all...

Trust me, we're working to improve this. After all, NWR first and foremost wants to best serve its readers.

I've been having problems loading the site, but I just chalked it up to my browser spazzing out.

You really need to get the servers off XBox live. Its frustrating enough to wait 10 minutes to join a Halo3 game, let alone waiting 10 minutes get on the site to visit NWR.

How weird, some threads are recieving new posts, but it still says stuff on them like "last post January 02" and they are halfway down the page of threads and not getting bumped. For example it says the Kororinpa thread has 8 replies last one being Jan 2 but click on it and there's two more made in the last day.

Yeah, I'm just guessing here, but in the server change over we lost like 12 hours worth of posts. That set of posts was then added back in manually, which did not update the latest post and reply count information.

This was all a conspiracy coverup to delete my crucial post which revealed the TRUTH about NWR.

Server seems to be pwning the SSBB daily update thread. Must be 4 or more replies not being displayed. Figured I would just make note of it for you guys.
EDIT: Actually it seems that the thread is only showing pages up to 157. If you manually change the URL to page 158 you can see all of the missing posts. Weird. Do threads have a cap on pages? Is 157 the highest it will go? Or is this a server problem?

I would guess that it's just a server problem.

On the General Gaming forum I posted on the "Soul Calibur Jumps the Shark, and then beats it with a lightsaber" thread yet my post doesn't appear anywhere but it is indicated that I was the last person to post

I'm not sure there's much we can do. If I had moderator powers there I could try moving the thread around and seeing if that works.
I'd suggest it to Ty but pssh.

That thread is officially our own forum black hole, it's sucking up the posts.

so, um, the Linear view is completely borked... for example, I can't see posts newer than my own in the mafia signup thread unless I change the view to Threaded All (which aren't always displayed in correct order anyways)
