The next Star Wars game from Factor 5 will be unveiled in next month's issue of EGM.

According to Gamers.com, the online extension of Electronic Gaming Monthly, the next issue of EGM will feature the first-ever information on Star Wars: Rogue Squadron III, Factor 5's newest game. LucasArts will be the publisher, of course. The website offers no further information except that the game will debut at E3 in May.

We'll know more when the new issue of EGM arrives...

Considering how short in development the first for the GCN was, and how it still manages to be one of the better GCN games. I am very exicted to see what Factor 5 can do given more development time.

Hopefully they will give us a Slave 1 worthy of the one in Episode II.

And a Falcon worthy of the OT for that matter. Why did they make it so slow and have the weakest shields and guns out of all the ships?

I was just incredibly impressed they managed to get the Buick in and playable despite such a tight dev schedule and a ton of other ships to include as secrets, as well. (Although the Buick was glitchy as heck, but got to love all the details when you went to the In-Cockpit view.) Yeah, considering how rushed Rogue Leader was, a really polished sequel would be a sight to see.

What I would really like to see would be capital ship controls-commanding the guns, perhaps from your starfighter. Massive capital ship battles...I can only hope.

And having read the novels, and being an avid fan, I still maintain that Factor 5 accurately represented the Falcon and Slave 1. They just aren't starfighters.

We discussed this in the other thread, but I'd love to see a storyline following the events of the New Jedi Order series, especially since Rogue Squadron figures so prevelently in it, with Jaina Solo ranking very highly and Corran Horn being Rogue Leader (Wedge is a retired general by the events of NJO). I'd like nothing more than blasting coralskippers out of the sky while performing the Solo Slingshot.

I think a game based on the novels would be fantastic. It would be easy to translate them to games, they were written by a game designer. I suppose that's what this game could be.... they've got to be running out of in-movie battles to re-create.

Please, no more Movie recreations! I've only read about...10-15 Star Wars books, including the Han Solo Trilogy, and I have to say that the Falcon is a faster ship, and is built for fighting as well as transporting. The ship should have been much faster and Han Solo isn't too cheap when it came to the shields on his ship, so they should be much better than X-Wing shields, and slightly weaker than Y-Wing shields. Also, Chewbacca is not that bad a shot from what I've read and the "Automatic guns" on the Falcon were horribly inaccurate.

I would love to fight Coral Skippers, but I am not a Jedi my friends, and I think that would be a bit tough to recreate in a game, at least the fighting in the first few novels of that series. I just want to see the new model X-Wings, and some original missions, or novel based missions with good use of the story provided by the novel.

Oh, and I honestly hope that Factor 5 is making more than one game, and that the other game is not Star Wars based.

I thought Rogue Leader was a very good game but it is was ultimately too short. There were other extras like Gold Medals to increase replayability but those were just so hard to get that they really only appealed to the hardcore. I don't think I would have bought it if it wasn't a launch title.

I'll give Rogue Squadron III a rental for sure but that's about it. Odds are within a week I'll be able to play most of the game anyway. One thing that really made Rogue Leader more enjoyable was that a lot of it took place during the movies. Unless they repeat missions (which would suck) the game isn't really going to take place within the movies and therefore won't be quite as interesting.

Well, I just got my new EGM today....and NO Rougue Squadron info!!....either that or I didn't look hard enough, but you'd think a story like that would be cover page!!

Obviously you haven't read the NJO novels- it has an extremely creative and inventive story that I personally enjoyed much more than the movies (I'm grateful Lucas created the whole SW universe, but he's not the most creative of people). IMO, the NJO series has much more at stake since we're talking about xenocide of all non-Vong lifeforms rather than just having a rather nasty guy for a tyrant.

anothermatt, where did you hear the story for NJO was written by a game designer? They've been contracting multiple authors to pen the series.

Black Knight: True, coralskippers are formidable opponents, but who said the game had to take place around Vector Prime/Dark Tide when they had no tactics against them? Hell, what I'd love even more is a side story, a sort of shoot off of the NJO main series, similar to the eBooks Denning and Williams wrote.

Umm... Fellas? Wouldn't multiplayer be a worthy addition? Co-op. Counter-op, deathmatch, maybe (Prolly not though...) online play? Wouldn't this be a great reason to play through again? You could have 3 of your buddies as your squadron as you try to take down the Death Star (or whatever), In Counter-Op you're friends could an AT-AT as you you try to snag them down, and the possibilities are endless. In fact, I hope that this game is merely just a multiplayer game. I personally didn't like the RS2, but multiplayer can really change that.
