Title: New franchises that need to be present in Brawl
Post by: NWR_pap64 on August 21, 2007, 02:21:26 PM
OK people, this is going to be a little different from the character, sticker, trophy, stage and music threads. In here post the new Nintendo franchises that SHOULD be in Brawl, no matter how (character, sticker, trophy, stage and music).

The new franchises must have come around the time or right after Melee was released.

Here are some of my picks (I will also post some of the franchises that are already present in Brawl):
Animal Crossing: AC is already in Brawl via a stage and an item. Even if AC was originally released for the N64 the series began to take off on the GC and became a worldwide smash on the DS. So big that an anime movie based on the games was based! So it makes sense that AC has a presence in Brawl.

Nintendogs: One of the puppies is an assist trophy and a Nintendogs has already been shown.

Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents: I can't stress enough how they need to be in Brawl one way or another. The games may not have the sale numbers of AC, Wii Sports and other titles, but they are certainly very well received among the gaming community and their attitude just screams of a representation in Brawl.

Luigi's Mansion: This will be more than likely. In the newest Mario Sports games there is always a Luigi's Mansion themed stage. With the stage could come an updated Luigi character complete with his Vacuum cleaner from the game, and even an appearance by E.Gadd as a sticker or assist trophy.

Mario and Luigi: Technically, the series isn't new because it starts the Mario characters. However, the games feature such unique stories and characters that it wouldn't hurt to put them in Brawl somehow. I could see them making stickers out of the great character artwork.

Pikmin: Only two games, yet many fans adore the characters (myself included). Pikmin was already represented via trophies in Melee, but they need to step it up by making a Pikmin stage, make Olimar a playable character or turn the characters into either trophies or stickers.

This is what I have so far. Feel free to add onto this list!

I can't stress enough how this is a stupid idea.

And I can't stress enough how useless you are on these forums.

Insulting EBA is punishable by death

I'm not insulting EBA, I'm insulting the popular notion that it be included in Brawl.

What do you have against it EBA in Brawl? I think the characters embody the DS as much as, if not more than, the Nintendogs. I don't expect there to be a playable character (which is a shame, because dance-moves-as-attacks would be humorous and effective) but at least a sticker to acknowledge the games' existence. I mean, come on, the Wild Gunman guy got a sticker.

I also hope to see the Kawashima-head, as a sticker or trophy. I've also mentioned before that I feel Metroid Prime Pinball deserves some sort of nod. That game was clever, dangit.

Also, does this thread have to be limited to new franchises? Some old ones have been overlooked in the past, and that could be rectified in Brawl. For instance:
Wario Land. The new Wario seems to be all-WarioWare, all the time. There needs to be some shoulder-dashing and some Kitchen Island in this one.

It's not exactly new, but it's new to me; I'd like to see Custom Robo appear in some form (most likely AT). I recently picked up the DS one and I absolutely love it. Ray Mk. II was a trophy in Melee, it shouldn't be too hard to come up with a way to use it as an AT. And LuigiHann said what I've been saying, Kawashima's disembodied head needs to be an AT as well (I can't imagine there's any chance it won't be a sticker).

That's enough to need killing.

And on the subject, I've noticed that, so far, the only new franchises to be represented via playable characters are Wario Ware and Kid Icarus. Every other character introduced in either the first ever SSBB footage or subsequent reveals has been connected to an already-represented franchise.

We need some new ones...

I was wondering something about the EBA. Does Nintendo legally owns the franchise (also counting Ouendan) or does iNiS still have main control of the series?

I ask because iNiS is almost like a freelance developer and while they have two big hits on the Nintendo DS it doesn't mean they are Nintendo exclusive. Plus, I remember there was mention of the Ouendan/EBA going to other platforms during the Games Developers Conference.

So does Nintendo own the Ouendan/EBA franchise?

The same question applies to Chibi Robo. If I am not mistaken, the game was published in Japan by Bandai. But when the game was released in the US and Europe it was published by Nintendo. So does that make Chibi Robo a Nintendo exclusive?

Anyways, I totally forgot about Custom Robo. The series isn't technically new in Japan, but it is very new around the world (with the GC and DS game being somewhat of a cult series). Would be cool if at the very least included a Custom Robo assist trophy.

I forgot to put in the first post the Big Brain Academy series. Dr. Lobe is already a sticker in the game, but I doubt he will be a playable character. I see him as an assist trophy. His attack could be that he waves his magic wand around and creates a literal brain storm. Lots of small brain icons (like the one that appear when measuring your brain's weight) come raining down on the characters.

Bandai was to publish the original Chibi-Robo. Which was supposed to be point and click game where the point was to train Chibi Robo to act on his own. skip canned this project, but later Miyamoto contacted skip and said he liked the character, and wanted to assist them in making the game we all know and love.

I'd personally be happy with Chibi Robo (playable) or Mr. Sanderson w/Chibi Robo playable, some sort of EBA/Ouendan assist trophy, Capt Olimar w/Pikmin, Ray MK II(Custom Robo), Jill from Drill Dozer and Doshin/Evil Doshin playable character (This will never happen).

It's possible that there won't be any image of Kawashima, just because Nintendo's legal right to his likeness may be limited to the Brain Age series itself. I don't know what the fact of the matter is, but that's enough to make me doubt its likelyhood.

That's a good point, I didn't think of that.
