Title: The Official "I WANT THIS STAGE IN THE GAME" Thread
Post by: HadesGigas on August 14, 2007, 08:26:07 AM
I saw there was one for characters, so here we are.

Gangplank Galleon from DKC2 (Or Tetra's ship if there's Wind Waker stuff in Brawl. Basically something piratey.)
Diamond City from WarioWare (like Onett comeplete with Mona and Dribbles & Spitz riding around the streets.)
Luigi's Mansion from Luigi's Mansion.

I think a Luigi's mansion stage is expected considering it has been featured in the Mario Kart and Sports games. A Diamond City Stage would be cool, but considering this is Wario we are talking about I expect it to be wacky and unexpected.

Even though I'm not a fan of the Paper Mario games I would like to see a PM Stage, maybe one based on Super Paper Mario. Like in the game the stage's gimmick would be that it flips between 2D and 3D. The 3D version would feature platforms and obstacles not seen in the 2D plane.

Mario Galaxy - One (or several) two dimensional planets that characters fight on.  If there are several, then they can have different levels of gravity, which will affect how easy it is to knock someone up.

Tetris - Blocks slowly fall/move/turn to fill in holes in the playing field.  When the stage gets too full everything shifts up.  (Alternatively, the playing field could be cleared when it reaches the top (and thus everyone loses a life) or if a Final Smash is used.)

Big Blue (F-Zero [return stage])
World 1-2 (Super Mario Brothers)
Lineback's Ship (Phantom Hourglass) - Fighting across the length of the ship as it travels through the ocean, forcing players to dodge attacks made by marine life...
Wario Ware - Think Game & Watch's stage, except you are stuck inside a constant game of Wario Ware!  Wackiness ensues! =D
Arwing Battle - Fight on top of constantly moving Arwings as they dodge enemy fire and asteroids in an asteroid field...
Phendrena Drifts - Snow and Sheegoths! (Blizzard conditions make it hard to see every once in a while...)

I also like the Wind Waker Ganon's Tower, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, and Mario Galaxy ideas...Plus, I'd love another unique Pokemon stage, but I can't think of any good ideas...

I love the idea of both Luigi's Mansion and a Mario Galaxy level with funky gravity.

I want a morphing Pokemon level with a Lava Pit...that is pretty important...Lava and real water hazards in the level.

A DS level would be cool...something like the Game and Watch level...but with different games being played and represented...this could be also based around the Wario Ware series with level interaction coming from the player playing the Wario Ware game.

Every stage from the original and Melee remade for Brawl.

Hyrule Throne Room from Twilight Princess

Bowser's Castle complete with interaction from the Koopa Clown Car

Adrock:  Yes a TRUE Bowser Castle is important...something terrifying to fight in because of the dangerous.

Actually, I would like two Bowser Castles, a nice one made from Brawl and then a Level 8-4 from the original Mario Bros Game complete with those spinning fire traps and random shot fireballs.

Brain Age: the stage consists of a white space where Brain Age and Brain Age 2 challenges appear.  There would be straight black lines as platforms, of course.

When the "Connect Maze" appears, numbered/lettered dots and a giant stylus appears and traces the lines from A to 1 to B to 2 etc.  The lines created could be temporary platforms or maybe dangerous to touch or get hit by.  There would be fewer dots to connect, or maybe it'd be limited to a few numbers (like in WarioWare: Smooth Moves).

When "Low To High" appears, numbers flash on the screen and are replaced with boxes.  In numerical order, the boxes are tapped by the giant stylus where massive damage happens.  To throw everyone off, sometimes the giant stylus wielder might make a mistake and hit the boxes out of order, but the taps would still do damage.

When "Stroop Test" appears, the words could just do damage where they appear, provided there's some kind of warning where a coloured word would appear a second later.

Etc.

A little weird, but hey, Brain Age has sold and still continues to sell like hot cakes.

How would you deal with the "wrong" passages that take you back to an earlier part of the stage?

I want the outside of Peach's castle in a giant snow globe. The globe will be shaken occasionally, not hurting the players. The castle will be 2-Dimensional and you can use it as a platform.

What I want to know is, assuming Sonic is in. . . how do you make a good Sonic stage?

I've no idea.

Easy, just stay the hell away from everything after 2d games

I want a wii level like ds and gc levels in mario kart but instead of starting on the wii you play on moving wiimotes. Halfway throw whoever playing gets angry and launches the wiimote into the tv were the rest of the match is.

Hmmm, I say they either use the classic Green Hill Zone, or if they are feeling creative, Casino Night Zone (with pinball bumpers and all!)...

Mario Galaxy - One (or several) two dimensional planets that characters fight on. If there are several, then they can have different levels of gravity, which will affect how easy it is to knock someone up.

i can just picture a platform, pretty decent in size, taking up most of the bottom part of the screen as one surface of a planet. then other smaller planets floatind around that act like platforms but with their own gravity, make it possible to fight upside down!

you think you're sending your opponent flying off the stage but the gravity of one of the planets/platforms pulls him in instead, that'd be awesome.

as for the old school bowser levels.. i could totally see a slow paced scrolling level with sparkys flying out of lava pits, fire chains spinning from floors and cielings, fireballs coming out of bowser statues. even the "high/middle/low" puzzles can be thrown in.. taking the "wrong" passage could deal a small amount of health, or taking the right one could give you back some health perhaps?

and speaking of olschool mario stages.. we need more pipes. pipes in the first MK stage from the original smash were cool, and i really missed them (and the pirahnna plants) in melee. they need to return.

also, a fun new item should be one that turns all characters on screen into their 8-bit forms. granted not all characters have 8-bit sprite forms but it would be nice to see what the artist can invision someone like fox or falcon like. it would just be an item for fun that would have no negative or possitive effects. if thats too lame, heres a pro/con it could have:

-turn everyone else 8-bit while the player who used it remains intact. the unnaffected player would be larger and faster than the sprite versions.

or

- all characters turn 8-bit and special moves (B moves) are turned off until the affect wheres off.

The last world from SMB 3, all the ships flying by in their original 8-bit (or however many it was back then) glory, just floating by in the air in the same manner as the Pokemon Floats level from Melee.

The stairway leading to Dracula's throne room. It's a stock Castlevania setting and the only one I can imagine being a suitable Smash stage. I guess maybe the Clock Tower too.... I like the stairway more though.

Death Mountain from A Link to the Past. It's has to be from A Link to the Past, otherwise, this idea can't work. See, occasionally the background gets hazy and it switches to the Dark World, complete with the music changing. We'll just assume that everyone has Moon Pearls and doesn't transform though it'd be kind of funny and a neat little throwback to see Link transform into a bunny.

I just remembered something. Remember in the first Brawl trailer when Zero Suit Samus first appeared, then Wario was introduced?

Those scenes took place in a dessert like place. Could that be a stage in the game or is it just a random background created for the scene?

PINK BUNNY LINK FOR BRAWL!!!

I would like to see a Pikmin based stage, an Advance Wars stage; ideally on a carrier at sea, or a Wario Ware based stage; something either involving Fronk or Orbulon's ship.

I'd like a Super Paper Mario 2-D to 3-D flipping stage.  I think that could be very dangerous and equally hilarious to suddenly find yourself over a pit you didn't see in 2-D.

Also - I think a Phazon-floored environment would be cooler than the rising lava stage of SSBM.  You can walk around on it, but it drains your life.

It would have to be 2-D to 2-D, and when the stage flips, everyone would be in the exact same spot (horizontally, that is). The "flip and be over a pit" scenario would be impossible unless everyone was every time, which would kinda ruin the point. It would not play out anywhere near as interesting as in the actual Super Paper Mario game.

Nah, picture it this way: the characters remain in the same position on the screen, but the level rotates 90 degrees around them. It could work.

That said, I'd honestly rather have a stage from Paper Mario 64 than one from Super Paper Mario.
