Title: PS3 Controller
Post by: Ceric on July 30, 2007, 04:14:11 AM
As all probably know by know I have recently purchased a PS3.  I've been playing the snot out of it getting caught up on PS2 games and Demos.  I'm Unemployed right now so I tend to have a lot of time on my hands once I go through looking at all the job postings.  This has led to me using the Dual Shock style PS3 controller more then I ever used the PS2's controller, I was a Cuber.  Thus my right hand started hurting sort of weird stemming from my thumb.  I need to find a more ergonomic controller it seems.

I've seen this, PS360 but I have neither the skills nor the capital to pull that off.  Though I'll probably try once I'm gainfully employed.

Though their just doesn't seem to be to much going for it that I could fine.  On the flipside since at the moment I'm really only playing PS2 games I could get oneof the adapters and use a PS2 controller. (Their is one shaped in the form of the Batarang PS3 controller, which I hope they do release eventually even if its a collector run.  I had one similar to that for the N64 and it was comfortable.)  The Logitec Chillstream looks a little bit heftier and a little more ergonomic.  Anyways I thought I see if anyone has any suggestions.

All I know is that I played fl0w for PS3 and the sixaxis sapped any fun out of the game that was probably there to begin with.

I think the PS3 controller is comfortable... more comfortable in fact than the 360, so I dunno if that's your problem.  Maybe you should just cut down on your play a bit.

It was always that weird ass d-pad that screwed up my thumb. That's why I hated PS1.

Would I be out of line asking how the Hell you were able to afford a PS3 if you're unemployed?  I want my Social Security payments back.

The Second one.  I actually have the money saved but I'm not going to put down the money itself until I actually have a steady job.  It didn't help that Sony made it now or never to have the Emotion engine in it and the price drop is only clearance.

I just wish I could use my Cube controller somehow...

I don't know about the sixaxis but the dualshock beats the Wii classic controller hands down when it comes to analog control (and I hate the dualshock layout). The lack of grips on the Wii CC means you have to counteract the force you put on the analogs with your index fingers. I have to use a GC controller for Paper Mario since I get cramps from the CC.

Really? I never had that problem with the CC.

I'll agree with you their KDR but Nyko, I think, has a grip that addresses most of my complaints on the CC.  Ideally though I like to have the Batarang PS3 controller or a Cube controller with and actual analog stick in the place of the c-stick and the traditional cross button layout to use.

Dude, you're going to have to buy a third party controller. Unfortunately most of them are shaped pretty much just like the sixaxis.  I think I was the only one who was excited to try the boomerang controller that Sony showed when they unveiled the PS3...

There are actually  mor then just a few of us who liked the idea.  It was just super easy to make fun of.  I'm still holding out hope at the moment that they will release it still.  I know it would have to  be third party but all I've seen are about the same.

I just thought of something. They make an Xbox360 controller for PC with a USB bluetooth adapter. I wonder if that badboy would work with the PS3?  I bet if some clever hax0r-type made a driver for it, they could get it running

I've always hated the DualShock controller. I'm so pissed that they kept it the same. I hate it so much that I'd rather use that freaking boomerang controller they were going to release! It just feels so weird and uncomfortable. The analog sticks are so flimsy and hardly have any resistance to them. And now the SixAxis with it's freaking triggers!!

I was in EB games yesterday and they had a logitec PS3 controller with a cooling system built in for $20 cheaper than the official sixaxis controller!  I haven't bought a 3rd party controller since the SNES days but this one looks very well made and is a little sleeker than the sixaxis. It kind reminds me of an Xbox controller (the smaller one).

In my experience, Logitech stuff is well made, often better than first party stuff.  I don't think I'd go in for a gimmick like a hand cooler, though.

Yeah.  I'm don't know about the hand cooler but it seems to odd a little more meat to the controller if that makes sense.  I wish I could find some place that would just let me use them out of the package.

Yeah I would really like to "try before I buy"  I think i'm just going to stick with the sixaxis though.
