Quote The arrangement only covers versions of those games for personal computers and Microsoft's Xbox 360, two platforms that have a high proportion of users connected to the Internet.
. . .
"We would love to do Nintendo and PlayStation, but they control the platform, they control the ecosystem and they have to decide what to allow or not. It's not something that's in our control," Van Arsdale said.
Yay for them only being on MS consoles.

I sort of have mixed feelings about in-game ads. If the game is set in the present then why not? Just make sure you screen for the porn and the stupid ones your golden. Don't have to develop realistic ads to populate your environment. Now if its in the future, past, or a distinctly different world I don't know if I like it very much.

Yeah . . . I mean in sport games I guess it isn't so bad. I mean in reality there are advertisements all around stadiums and such. Hell stadiums themselves are advertisements (the staple center for example).
So I guess it isn't a big deal. However, they SHOULD lower the price of the games if they are getting payed for advertisement space in the virtual world.

I wouldn't mind ads if it meant cheaper games but except for games that are meant to be one big ad (Moorhuhn anyone?) I haven't seen that happen. A major concern is the tendency of advertisers to think they're the only important person in the world and make their ads as obnoxious as possible. There's a reason the consumer has started to fight against ads on the internet, they're getting more and more annoying to the point where you're practically at war with the advertisers because they have no concept of decency.
For games I'd expect them to add animated ads, especially the flashing kind that may even pretend there's something game related on it just to get your attention (e.g. in an egoshooter a billboard with a picture of an enemy on it).

I always get the feeling that ShyGuy is actually Peter Moore. He's here to spy on us. Or something.

Whoa, for a second there I thought they signed an exclusive sports deal, so all the EA Sports games would only be on the 360 and PC..
Hmm, I wonder what would happen if EA made their own console?
