Well, after watching an amazing video of a 1982 Biplanes tournament, I remembered the DS compilation that I haven't heard of in awhile, so I e-mailed Keith again, to see if there's been any news regarding it. Unfortunatly, it is still without a publisher. Which sucks.
But, in case you haven't guessed yet, it appears that Keith and Co. are working to get Intellivision games as downloadable content on Wii (and possibly 360). This is awesome (to me!). I asked Keith if there was any chance of seeing something like this in the future for 360, PS3 and espically Wii and he mentioned that they are "pursuing" plans for offering Wii downloads!
I hope he doesn't mind a direct quote from his e-mail, but I really like the way he stated this:
Quote I have said in interviews that we see the future of Intellivision in downloads - Xbox Live Arcade, Wii, cell - because this is the area where we can do the next generation of our simple, addictive arcade style games at a practical budget. Dedicated console titles ($25 million to develop The Transformers game?) is no longer our playground.
While the Intellivision crew isn't the power house a lot of development studios may be now-a-days, I wonder how many smaller developers feel similar to this.
Anywhoo, here's hoping we'll get to see some Intellivision Wii downloads. I started my gaming life with the Intellivision and while some of the games haven't aged too gracefully, there are a ton of games that are great fun! If you've got some time to kill, head over to the VH1 Arcade for some free play on some fun Intellivision games.

Intellivision Lives!

Kairon says: Yay! Third party Wii Ware Support! Everyone else says: Yuck! wiimakes!
Hmm... I had the perception that WiiWare was meant for original projects. Would Intellivision Lives! count as original... or would Wii controls need to be worked in? Or would Nintendo not really care, given that they're not screening content.
And this is more of a statement of intent really Unclebob. They're "pursuing" the opportunity, they may not have wii dev kits yet, or ever if things fall through.

Intellivision would count as VC, of course.
Opening up to indie stuff always means loads of clones because many indies make just that. I hope some clone genres other than puzzle and shmup.

Karion - a statement of intent is good enough to get me excited. It tells me there's a chance this could happen.
As far as WiiWare vs. Virtual Console, it all depends. Isn't that Commodore 64 remake supposed to be WiiWare?

Bob, can you start e-mailing Capcom about releasing Mega Man Anniversary Collection for GBA?

There are a few Intellivision games on GameTap, but I haven't found them to be a whole lot of fun. Any recommendations of good ones?

My biggest concern is that, once WiiWare launches, it'll be flooded with games from companies like Capcom looking to rehash the same crap to yet ANOTHER audience, except it's "Puzzle Fighter" now so it doesn't belong on the VC.
I just hope that the independent devs which Nintendo is actually trying to help here don't get buried under the spew of mainstream devs...

If the hardcore have anything to say about it, they won't.

Capcom is dead to me after how they treaded us GCN fans...

Perhaps I just think Intellivision games are great because I grew up with them... what Intellivision games do they offer on Game Tap?

I thought there were more, but there are only 12:
Astrosmash™, Bowling, Buzz Bombers, Chip Shot: Super Pro Golf, Frog Bog, Hover Force, Night Stalker™, Pinball, Shark! Shark!™, Skiing, Snafu™ and Thunder Castle

Astrosmash is a fun one to kill a few hours at, if you don't mind the repetition. Buzz Bombers is good for a few rounds. Night Stalker is one of my favorite games. Shark! Shark! is good to play with kids and women who aren't gamers. Snafu is a great multi-player game. Thunder Castle is an awesome early dungeon crawler.
