Title: Wii's wifi antenna sucks

I just bought the USB adapter because I was sick and tired of the internet working off and on.
The Wii is sitting right next to a wireless relay point which connects it to network channel 1. I checked and ensured (via wireless stumbler) that it's the ONLY wifi network on that channel, and yet the damn thing still loses internet connectivity at random, yet my laptop, my friend's laptops and other wireless devices (like the relay point which is connected wirelessly to ANOTHER point) have no problem connecting. The irony is that I'm using the USB ethernet adapter to connect the Wii to the wireless relay router which is 2 feet away.
Anyone else had the issue of the Wii sometimes just not connecting wirelessly to the internet? I've ALWAYS had this problem, with mine and the one at my parents' house so it ain't just my location.

I could never get my USB dongle to work here at work with my DS, so i just gave up. Good thing at home we eventually got a wireless router before I even needed it, and finally here at work we have gone the same route.
I never tried using the dongle with my Wii, but I suspect I would have about as much luck.

My router is underneath my Wii in my living room...even though my PC is wired to the router and in a room very far away. It's the easiest way to FTP to my XBox and have the 360 plugged in for Live (and the PS2 and Gamecube back in the day). I did move the router into my "office" for a while though, and the Wii connected and went online 100% problem free. Also, my little brother's Wii is a good 25 feet away from the router at my Mom's house, and it connects to the network just fine as well. Cordless phones and microwave ovens can cause a lot of interference.

Some routers have to have problems with the Wii - minor changes to the configuration usually fix it. Throw some router specs into nintendowifi.com and see if they have a solution.
I had to switch off one option on my old Netgear router and then wireless worked fine for me. Haven't tried wireless with my new Billion router yet.

Meanwhile, the wireless relay point sitting less than a foot away from it would still work just fine, and it's the same story for the Wii at my parent's house except that the router is further away. These are two completely different routers in completely different areas connecting to different Wiis and they both have the same issues.
Maybe there's a certain level of interference the Wii just can't handle, but if the Wii can't handle it and the wireless relay can, then I can only conclude that the wifi antenna in the Wii just ain't up to snuff.

Some routers can often get confused, my one at times very frequently refuses to assign IP's (or give permission) to the Wii and so it gets confused and won't go online.
I can think of three options:
1 - Wipe the wii wireless settings and re-enter them. 2 - Turn on the SSID broadcast (the name of the network) if it's off. 3 - Assign the wii an IP. How you do this depends on the router you have. Netgear routers refer to it as LAN IP.

There could very well be something wrong with Wiis. I use the Dongle and after initial problems it works 100% of the time with my DS, but randomly will cut out with my Wii or just wont connect and the Wii will sometimes say it "can't find it" when its only a metre away from it. I'm guessing the problem is interference since I have a ton of electrical junk around me, but it doesn't effect my DS.

A friend of mine had to use a USB cable to move his dongle out from behind his PC (relative to his Wii). Apparently, some hardware was disrupting the signal. Our best guess is that it was his 19" CRT monitor.
Come to think of it, any of you having trouble might want to check whether your TV, if it's a CRT, is between your Wii and your access point.
