Title: Smash Bros. Website ReLaunches
Post by: WindyMan on May 21, 2007, 08:49:46 PM
Site launches with an impressive list of music talent; daily updates promised.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=13501

The countdown is over.  The Smash Bros. Dojo has finally relaunched and is promising daily weekday updates from this point forward.  There aren't any new character announcements or videos to accompany the reopening, but there is an insight into the game's music team.  Its very large, star-studded music team.  Before getting to that, though, here's a rundown of what the blog-structured site has updated with.

The first blog post shows players how to play the game.  Anyone who has been rapidly hitting F5 at the site should already know the basics, but a few screenshots demonstrating the actions show parts of what appears to be a previously unseen stage.

Second is the introduction of the basic stage, seen in both trailers released for the game thus far, which are also available on Smash Bros. website.  Battlefield has three simple platforms that don't move, but the background can change between day, evening night and dawn time periods.

The most exciting update, however, comes in the form of a list of game musicians and composers who will be contributing to the game's soundtrack.  A whopping 36 of Japan's most talented music men, including those from Nintendo, Konami, grasshopper, GAME ARTS, HAL Lab and more are on the list, which also includes Yasunori Mitsuda (formerly of Square) who worked on games like Chrono Trigger and Xenogears, Tomoko Sasaki from NiGHTS and way too many other talented people to list here.  Just look at the list and you'll be impressed.

It's important to note that the list of games these composers worked on does not necessarily mean we'll see characters from those games or game series in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.  Then again, if this many people from all of these different game companies have their hand in Brawl's development, maybe that's a sign of some sort?

NWR will have more information on Super Smash Bros. Brawl later this week.  Stay tuned!

NWR, I am challenging you to start a campaign to get the soundtrack of this game released.  I must own it.  I will get it.  I would like to get it legally, but I would like more to get it as soon as possible.  MUST OWN.

And lol, Chorno.

Wow, Smash Bros. will be MASSIVE in both production values and hopefully in game play variety!

Is this a nice shiny thing to distract from the fact that we don't have a release date? Does anyone else smell 2008 or is it just me?

Well, considering the page says 2007, it's just you.

I wonder why Uematsu isn't on the list.  Didn't he compose the music for the original trailer?

Yoko Shimomura     Kingdom Hearts series

Sora playable!  I just wet my pants.

I know this is far from confirmation but I can dream.

Shimomura also did Super Mario RPG, but I'm not letting the composer list give me any ideas for what characters may show up, as I highly doubt the two would be related in any way.

But it is fun to speculate!

the page says 2007 in non-PAL regions, and since he's in Australia, his assumption might be right :/

That doesn't confirm that either of them will be playable.

If Dan Smith was in Super Smash Bros. I would smile.

Probably forever.

Since there's so much speculation already, I'll throw this fuel on the fire:

Master Chief in Brawl.

Hey, it could happen. It would really help the idea of the "Wii60" combo.

Is he from a popular game or something?

Most of the Killer7 characters used guns, though.

Since two Grasshopper composers are in there, I expect Travis Touchdown, actually.

He has the necessary melee weapon and his presence would boost sales of NMH dramatically.

Kevin Smith uses knives.  Although he's the worst character, so nuts to that.

Mask de Smith uses explosives.  He'd be pretty bad ass.  Plus he already has multiple skins from the game.

Travis is the star of an upcoming game, one which will likely launch around the same time as SSBB, hence why I suggest him so heavily.

It would SERIOUSLY boost sales of SUDA's game, and it's an M rated game at that which will make the Wii look that much more favorable for M games.

As cool as Mask would be, I'd think the potential sales of NMH would be far more worth it (unless they released a Wii port of K7).
